Story
Buddy is a Courtesy Post only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact his foster dad, RJ Casey at 949-701-7755 (call or text) My name is Buddy, I’m about 1½ years old, around 40 lbs, and I'm told I'm a Beagle/Boxer mix — which basically means I'm equal parts playful goofball and loyal cuddlebug.  I get along great with other dogs, I'm house-trained, and I even know how to use a doggie door (yes, l've got my diploma in "Good Boy Basics"). My short, sleek coat means I hardly shed - less vacuuming, more belly rubs. I'm also vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to join my forever family. As for my personality? Think of me as the perfect coffee blend: not too strong, not too mild, just right. I'm chill when you want peace and silly when you need a laugh. Basically, I'm the kind of guy who fits right in anywhere. If you're looking for a best friend who's loyal, fun, and easy to love - I'm your Buddy. Message them to meet me — I can't wait to be your new best friend.   Buddy is available to meet in the San Diego area. For further information or to meet Buddy, please contact his foster dad, RJ Casey at 949-701-7755 (call or text)October 14, 2025, 6:45 pm

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Joshua (now named Barley), an affectionate, outdoors-loving adventure buddy with a gentle and sensitive heart. Barley is 6 years old and weighs 40 lbs. He may be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe, he bonds deeply and becomes a loyal best friend who loves being close to his person. Barley is incredibly smart and well-trained — he is fully potty trained, crate trained, knows many commands, and has great recall. He enjoys daily walks, hiking, running, and exploring new places, and has even gone on road trips and camping adventures across the Western U.S. He’s great in the car, loves rock-hopping on boulders, and enjoys fetch with squeaky balls. He’s not a swimmer, which actually makes him the perfect paddle-boarding passenger, he’ll happily stay on the board and take in the scenery! Barley thrives in a calm, predictable home where he can relax and feel secure. He can be a bit reserved when meeting new people, but with patience and gentle introductions, he warms up and becomes loving and affectionate. Barley can be dog selective and would need a calm dog in the home that can give him space until he is comfortable and would do best with someone who is home often, as he experiences some separation anxiety and wants to be included in daily life — whether that’s adventuring outdoors or relaxing by your side while you work. He loves being petted, enjoys learning new tricks for treats, and will happily sleep in bed and stay curled up until you wake. With time, structure, and understanding, Barley truly shines, he has so much love to give and will make an amazing companion for someone who appreciates a devoted, active, and deeply loyal best friend. Joshua will need to be adopted by a family without young children. He is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  January 15, 2026, 7:10 pm
