You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lovable, friendly, sweet puppy who loves to cuddle.Meet Izzy! This lovable, friendly and sweet Beagle mix loves to play and be held and snuggled by her humans. She is outgoing, loves playing with her littermates, and is confident and willing to approach humans for attention. Izzy was part of a litter that was rescued along with their mama, a small/medium beagle/terrier mix, in the desert in La Paz, BCS, Mexico. She was rescued when she was just a few weeks old, and grew up in a foster home with good vet care, food, and lots of love and attention. Her mama is a small/medium sized beagle/terrier mix around 30 lbs, and we think there is some Lab/Shar Pei in this litter from the dad's side. Izzy is sterilized, vaccinated and ready to find her forever family! Meet Izzy in person! Story
Meet our beautiful purebred female Beagle "Daisy Mae" :) She was found on the bones; you were able to see all her bones/ribs. She has recovered :) She has been under our Wellness program and is in great condition now and ready for her forever home. Daisy Mae is currently being raised around a large group of dogs, including a blind dog; which she learned very quickly she is blind and respects her space. She is very special and will make a great companion. She is calm; when needed, not the typical howling or barker Beagle. However she will bark when others do. She is so funny; she has her binky blanket and loves to be wrapped around it:) Daisy Loves to ride in the car and will make a great addition to any home who will offer her a forever home so she will never be hurt again. She is crate trained and loves her crate because she knows she will get a treat. She can stay calmly in there with her treat and toys. She loves to play tag of war - and loves any toys and the ball. She can make a great family addition or be a solo companion as well. Daisy is healthy, vaccinated, and has been spayed:) Are you ready to give them a forever home? Please text at 619-576-0747 or email veronica.aaofusa@gmail.com or visit our website at www.aaofus.org and complete our application at the following link: http://aaofus.org/adoption-application.html . We are scheduling meet & greet adoption appointments and keeping a distance protocol. No appointments will be made unless we have received an application; therefore, we can match you with the best fit for you. Follow us on Instagram @aaofus where you can see more pics. Story
Hello, Meet Oliver the Beagle who is an energetic 40-45lbs boy in need of a loving home, who loves the outdoors and enjoys following his nose on long walks. He is intelligent, food motivated, and learns tricks easily with treats. Oliver knows how to sit, lay down, touch, twirl, and shake. One of the little games we do with him is hiding treats around the house for his nose to find, and boy does he love it. He is a very sensitive and emotional dog who will let it be known when he wants some attention. Great with young children, especially cleaning up after them when they are all done with their food. Oliver does really well with bath time but can be sensitive with his ear cleaning and nail filing. Will happily curl up next to you on the couch to watch movies with you.

Story
Meet Callie! Callie was surrendered by her owners to SEAACA (Southeast Area Animal Control Authority) because they could no longer afford her care. We scooped her up on January 30th to become a Frosted Face. Callie is 9 years old, weighs 28 lbs., and is the cutest low-rider! She is very sweet and friendly, both with people and other dogs. Callie enjoys going on our weekly FFF hikes, and she has lots of pep in her step. Volunteers report she is great on leash and is a fun walking buddy! Callie rides nicely in the car, takes treats gently, loves having her back scratched, and as you can see in the video, enjoys going shopping! Callie went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what she is like in a home. She earned rave reviews for being a "dream foster" and all-around best girl! Her Fling Mom reports: "Callie was a dream foster. She was sweet and loving. She has a gentle personality and just wants to nap on blankets and people all day. She would make a great companion for anyone with a quiet lifestyle. Callie was great around my own dog, who is smaller than her. They coexisted and walked together so well. She didn't seem too interested in playing. She often would cuddle up to both my dog and me. Callie seemed 100% potty trained! She didn't have any accidents and always did her business outdoors and on walks. Callie enjoyed going for walks around a couple of blocks. Callie is such a sweetie and just wants to be near her people." Callie is back on-site and ready for her forever home! She is a young senior with lots of pep in her step and light in her eyes. Her future person or family will be so lucky! Come meet her lovely Callie at Open House this Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm!

Story
Meet Bonita! Bonita was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society by her owner for chasing after the resident cats. Poor Bonita was terrified at the shelter, and we scooped her up on March 11th to give her a fresh start as a Frosted Face. Bonita is 9 years old and weighs 30 lbs. Bonita is a shy but very sweet girl who walks nicely on leash, rides quietly in the car, and as you can see in the video, gently takes treats. She is also a polite restaurant guest! Bonita went on a two-week Frosted Fling, and being in a calm home environment helped her decompress. Once she has the security of a forever home, we know she will continue to become more confident. Bonita's Fling Mom shares: "Bonita is a sweet, fun dog that would be a great addition to any family. She has a funny, sassy personality and will let you know if you are not making her dinner or getting her a treat fast enough! She does not guard her food, and I was able to leave kibble out for her and my dog to free feed. Bonita was very comfortable with me, my husband, and child. However, when I wasn't home, she tended to go upstairs and hide a little bit. She was also comfortable in our house and in the backyard exploring on her own, but she was nervous walking on leash. If we went to a walk from the house, she would try to turn around and pull back to the house. With time and patience, I'm sure that will change. Once Bonita gets to know a person, she uses them as a comfort when she is in places that she doesn't know. One of the times we tried to go to a park for a walk she just went underneath a bench and sat at my feet instead of walking. Bonita enjoys getting belly rubs and playing with balls and toys. She does not have separation anxiety when home alone and is potty trained. She didn't have a single accident during our two weeks together. She can go up and down stairs on her own, but with her short legs, she needs help getting up onto the furniture and will sleep next to you if you let her. If you help Bonita onto your bed, she loves to sleep under the covers, which is adorable! Otherwise, she is fine with sleeping on a dog bed. Bonita's previous owner surrendered her because she would bark at and chase the cat. Yes, on occasion, she barked at my cat, but her tail was wagging at the same time, so I'm not sure it was aggression or play. I lean towards play. At times, Bonita would hang out within a foot or two of my cat, and it was fine. Bonita is super sweet and snuggly and was great at chilling with our family. If you are looking for a lay around the house, mellow homebody, Bonita is your gal!" Be sure to watch the adorable video of Bonita playing with her tennis ball! Bonita is back on-site and ready for a forever family that will be patient with her as she learns the world isn't so scary with them by her side. Might you be the family she needs? Come meet sweet Bonita on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 1:00 during Open House!

Meet No-No Nacho! No-No Nacho came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on March 23rd. He is 10 years old, weighs 19 lbs., and is very sweet. Nacho loves pets and scratches! No-No Nacho had a great time on his first weekly FFF hike! He has lots of pep and can do a 3-mile hike on the trails. He rides nicely in the car, too. No-No Nacho recently went to live in a Foster home, and we are looking forward to learning what he is like in a home setting. Story
Looking for a silly, outgoing, spunky and fun-loving Basset Hound and Boston Terrier mix to brighten your days? Then Heron may just be your guy! Heron originally came to us from a shelter in San Bernardino County, and he quickly made fast friends with everyone both two and four legged. His favorite pastimes at TBL include roaming the play yard with his buddies, playing fetch, going on weekend hikes with volunteers, and just being a ham for attention. You only need to meet him to know that this playful dude has a happy-go-lucky outlook on life and nothing will bring him down. Given his energy and tenacity, he would do best with an experienced owner that can keep him grounded and help set boundaries. Heron loves to give you kisses – whether your hands, arms, or face, he is not picky! He comes equipped with adorably squat legs, classic black and white coloring, constantly wagging tail, big inquisitive brown eyes, and happy smiling face. To those who know him well, and those he has established trust with, he is a very sweet, jolly, and obedient boy. Heron weighs around 30 pounds, a great size for most types of living situations. He is about 9 and a half years young (estimated DOB December 2011) but can still keep up with the best of them on long hikes and outdoor adventures. If Heron sounds like the perfect pup you have been looking for, come see if he is a match for you!If you'd like to meet Heron, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Story
Our Roger, is just a love bug:) he is a calm puppy, and loves to laid down on his bed and just give you a look with so much love of gratitude for giving him a safe and loving place to be fostered. :) he will be great with any family that will give him the time to get him out to be a busy body:) such as running, hiking, and he can even be with a laid back family as well. He has these gorgeous hazel eyes kind of green:) and we love his long ears:) A little more of his background: There were 7 total, 1 male has been adopted (Oreo) but we still have 6 boys and 1 girl left. They all have wonderful markings, of mixed breeds such as : Beagle, Bassett Hound, Labrador Retriever, Cattle- as dogs can have 7 different fathers. There are almost 4 1/2 months old now. Mama Mika is for adoption as well - however, she is a special needs dog. She was so abused that they damaged her eye and she lost it. Therefore, we had to perform surgery on her eye and removed to prevent future infections. She is very shy and so afraid of people. It will take that special angel who will have the patience with her to make her blossom again. She is coming along every day, and getting better but very slowly. She used to run from us - we left the food for her to eat and walk away. When we rescued her, she used to stuffed her mouth with food and run to the her puppies to throw up so they can eat. This is the situation when we found them up on a land-field hill sleeping inside tubes; they were about 2 months old and not getting enough food from mama so she will do this and throw up so they will eat. They had never seen people before, the poor little things were so scared. Now they are gorgeous beautiful healthy puppies waiting for their forever home. Mika is a wonderful mama who cared for the 7 of them - she is the example as how animals are just so wonderful in all ways -:) They have received all their 3 main core puppy vaccinations, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. Please open your home and hearts to these bundle of cuties:) Are you ready to give them a forever home? If so, Please text us at 619-576-0747 as 1st type of contact or email veronica.aaofusa@gmail.com or visit our website at www.aaofus.org and complete our application at the following link: http://aaofus.org/adoption-application.html . If approved, the adoption coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a Meet-and-Greet appointment. No appointments will be made unless we have received an application; therefore, we can match you with the best fit for you. Follow us on Instagram @aaofus where you can see more pics. Please allow 48 hours to process applications and respond back to set up appointments. Unfortunately, responses back to those who do not qualify are not possible due to high volume of applications. Donation Adoption fee includes up-to-date their 3 core puppy DHLPP vaccinations, spaying or neutering, deworming, flea medication, and a complementary health check up by a participating clinic near you. Please consider adopting one (or more!) of these fur babies! Due to high volume of calls; NO PHONE calls are accepted at this time - therefore, please text us or email us.- A minute of conscious - Please read:) We ask you Please to be SERIOUS adopters; as there have been so many people that are not ready. We set up meet & greet appointments, do a home visit or send them the address for some meet & greet locations, paperwork and suddenly they said they are not ready or spouse is not ready, etc. These fur kids have a very hard day the day of their appointment. Due to travelling we hold their food, so they won't get car sick. We bath them, some of them are schedule for grooming as you know it is stressful for them; then they have to travel with us picking up other rescued fur kids, and so on, it is a very stressful hard day for them for people to just cancel at last minute or not show up or do show up and just say they are not ready. Our time as well as your time is valuable. Please don't waste valuable time that is so precious for a rescued pet. Every single wasted time is a time that an animal will die because we didn't get to them on time to help them. In addition, of wasting gas and grooming fees which are paid by volunteers. Please take the time to put your shoes in the shoes of the volunteer and most of it to put your shoes on our rescued fur kids!! Please take a minute to tell yourself if you are ready to adopt and for this commitment. LIVE!! LOVE!! LAUGH!!
