Story
Meet Teddy, a loving Beagle × Treeing Walker Coonhound born approx. May 2024 (about 23 months old). We’re heartbroken to rehome him and want a patient, experienced adult-only home. Teddy is incredibly sweet. He's independent, you’ll often notice him putting himself to sleep at night or resting on his own bed. He loves the outdoors, is an amazing running partner, and his favorite spot is Ocean Beach dog beach where he’s friendly with other dogs and superb off-leash, happily spending the day playing and lounging in the sun. He’s fully potty trained, uses a front-door bell to signal bathroom breaks, and knows sit, stay, rollover, speak, and twirl. He waits for the “okay” before eating. Because he’s young he needs lots of exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. Important: he displays resource guarding around food with other animals, so he must be rehomed to a household with no children or pets. If you can offer structure, activity, and love, Teddy will be a devoted companion.

Buddy is a Courtesy Post only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact his foster dad, RJ Casey at 949-701-7755 (call or text) My name is Buddy, I’m about 1½ years old, around 40 lbs, and I'm told I'm a Beagle/Boxer mix — which basically means I'm equal parts playful goofball and loyal cuddlebug.  I get along great with other dogs, I'm house-trained, and I even know how to use a doggie door (yes, l've got my diploma in "Good Boy Basics"). My short, sleek coat means I hardly shed - less vacuuming, more belly rubs. I'm also vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to join my forever family. As for my personality? Think of me as the perfect coffee blend: not too strong, not too mild, just right. I'm chill when you want peace and silly when you need a laugh. Basically, I'm the kind of guy who fits right in anywhere. If you're looking for a best friend who's loyal, fun, and easy to love - I'm your Buddy. She has recovered :) She has been under our Wellness program and is in great condition now and ready for her forever home. She is so funny; she has her binky blanket and loves to be wrapped around it:) Daisy Loves to ride in the car and will make a great addition to any home who will offer her a forever home so she will never be hurt again. She is crate trained and loves her crate because she knows she will get a treat. She can stay calmly in there with her treat and toys. She loves to play tag of war - and loves any toys and the ball. Story
We were recently contacted by a family that’s in need of rehoming their 4 adult Beagles due to no fault of their own, we were told that they no longer have enough time to care for them as their lifestyle has changed and now they travel often. They’re all mostly outdoor dogs and are only crate trained (they sleep indoors at night). So we’ll be looking for families that would be able to train them to become indoor pets. Not bonded, we can place them in separate homes. We’re hoping to take them in as soon as we can so we start their Vet care, spay/neuter, etc. But we need to have some families lined up for at least some of them to be able to commit cause they’re several. Skyler. This is what we know about him by his current family: “This is Skyler: He’s a 2 years old tri chocolate (brown/tan/white) boy. Super playful. Bigger than the rest. Strong. He's a cryer and loves to sleep in the sun. Loves to play with balls. He's hyper, likes to jump on us.” Included with adoption: - Vet wellness exam - Vaccinations up to date (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies) - Rabies Certificate - Fecal test: (Pending results) - FLEX4 test (Heartworm, Anaplasma, Ehrilichia & Lyme): (Pending results) - Heartworm/Flea/Tick/Worm preventive will be given (Simparica Trio) - Microchip with prepaid lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite) - Neuter surgery - Leash and collar with microchip ID collar tag - Adoption contract - Some of his current food Pick up would be in San Diego, CA. Transportation could be arranged to the right home, if needed. If Skyler sounds like a potentially good fit for your family, and you’d be interested in adopting soon, feel free to fill out our adoption application form and we’ll be back with you. That’s the only pic we have of him (the Beagle next to him is his father), we’ll update the post once we receive more pics.

Story
Matilda is a sweet tricolor Beagle. Her approximate age is 5 years old. She’s on the smaller side, weights 24lbs. She was in a rough shape when we took her in but she’s all good now. Looks like she was used for breeding. We were told that she was an outdoor dog, so she’s not potty/house trained. She’s now crate trained, she sleeps indoors in her crate at night. We didn’t receive much explanations as of why they surrendered her, just that they couldn’t keep her anymore. Anyway, what matters now is that Matilda needs a loving forever home! She’d love a nice couch to lay on with her people, she’s a sweet girl, she’s full of life and active/playful. She’s ok with other dogs and loving with her people, unknown about cats. A Beagle experienced family would be amazing! Included with adoption: - Vet wellness exam - Vaccinations up to date (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies) - Rabies Certificate - Fecal test: Negative results - FLEX4 test: Negative results for Heartworm, Anaplasma and Lyme. Positive result for Ehrlichia - Medication to treat Ehrlichia (1 month of Doxycycline pills) - Heartworm/Flea/Tick/Worm preventive given up to date (Simparica Trio) - Microchip with prepaid lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite) - Spay surgery - Dental + 1 tooth extraction - Leash and collar with microchip ID collar tag - Adoption contract - Some of her current food Matilda is ready to be adopted, she already finished her treatment. Pick up would be in San Diego, CA. Transportation could be arranged to the right home, if needed. If Matilda sounds like a good fit for your family, and you’re interested in adopting her, feel free to fill out our adoption application form and we’ll get back to you. Adoption fee is listed in this post.

Story
'Colby' Beagle/Spaniel X, male, 5 yr old, 27 lbs'Colby' Spaniel/Beagle Mix - Male 5 years - 27 lbsColby is an adorable 27 pound beagle mix that was hit by a car in Mexico and left to die on the side of the road. He was rescued by us and brought to the USA. We have had this little sweety in the rescue for a time now and are looking for the right home or a foster. He is good with other dogs and loves to play. He has a cart and drag bag. He does need his bladder expressed but we can teach you how to do that. He is NOT totally paraplegic (see video) but mostly. So he still wears a diaper/belly band when inside. But outside in the dog yard he plays and 'stumbles' about. But boy can he move!  Our adoption fee through our rescue covers the dog being fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered, dewormed and flea treated. Story
Looking for a silly, outgoing, spunky and fun-loving Basset Hound and Boston Terrier mix to brighten your days? Then Heron may just be your guy! Heron originally came to us from a shelter in San Bernardino County, and he quickly made fast friends with everyone both two and four legged. His favorite pastimes at TBL include roaming the play yard with his buddies, playing fetch, going on weekend hikes with volunteers, and just being a ham for attention. You only need to meet him to know that this playful dude has a happy-go-lucky outlook on life and nothing will bring him down. Given his energy and tenacity, he would do best with an experienced owner that can keep him grounded and help set boundaries. Heron loves to give you kisses – whether your hands, arms, or face, he is not picky! He comes equipped with adorably squat legs, classic black and white coloring, constantly wagging tail, big inquisitive brown eyes, and happy smiling face. To those who know him well, and those he has established trust with, he is a very sweet, jolly, and obedient boy. Heron weighs around 30 pounds, a great size for most types of living situations. He is about 9 and a half years young (estimated DOB December 2011) but can still keep up with the best of them on long hikes and outdoor adventures. If Heron sounds like the perfect pup you have been looking for, come see if he is a match for you!If you'd like to meet Heron, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below.
