Story
Howdy, partner! Meet Nelly, the sweetest gal this side of the Mississippi!Nelly may be a seasoned cowgirl, around 14, but don`t let her silver-years wisdom fool you—every now and then, she still kicks up her heels for little case of the zoomies! She`s doing her best with house training, gets along great with other dogs and cats, and is happiest when she`s receiving a little love and affection from her favorite humans. She`s a quiet gal who prefers a peaceful homestead to a rowdy rodeo, and she`s ready to settle into a forever home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort.Nelly isn`t much for hitting the dusty trail on long walks, but give her a chance to mosey along and sniff every interesting scent, and she`ll be as happy as a Beagle in a field full of rabbits! She`s also got a legendary snore that`ll have you wondering if there`s a whole herd of cattle sleeping in the next room. Stairs can be a bit of a challenge for this seasoned cowgirl, so a home with fewer steps would be mighty fine. One thing`s for certain: Nelly is no fan of the crate, so she`ll need a home where she can relax without one. She hasn`t met any little buckaroos yet, but her foster suspects she`d do just fine with children. If you`re looking for a loyal companion to share quiet evenings, cozy naps, and the occasional wild west wiggle, Nelly`s ready to ride off into the sunset with you. Her next adventure? Finding a forever home where she`s loved like the treasure she is!Interested in meeting this dog? Fill out an application and we will be in touch. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Siren

Beagle Mixed Breed (Medium)

Female, 5 yrs 10 mos
Barrington Hills, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Siren is a calm, gentle, quiet girl who joined us from rural Kentucky. It appeared she had had very little human interaction when joining BAARK last year, but with time and patience, she has come out of her shell and has become a little more confident….but does have a ways to go. Siren is definitely a Mix Breed, possibly a Beagle-Heeler, with other breeds sprinkled in! She’s an estimated 32 lbs. born in January of 2021. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, but prefers calm dogs. She can become startled by loud noises and quick movement but as her confident continues to grow, such things will likely not bother her. Siren is most likely to thrive in a quieter household consisting of adults. But older children, respectful of animals, would be good for Siren as well. She’d really enjoy the companionship of a calm, possibly older dog too. A secure fenced yard is also a plus. Siren is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is believed to be housebroken as well. If you are interested in adding Siren to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Sprout is an adorable purebred Beagle, who had spent the first year of his life in a cage at a Beagle Breeding & Testing Facility. He knew nothing but being used and abused by humans, no kindness, no gentle touch, and certainly no playing or running free with friends. Sprout joined BAARK in June of this year, fearful and confused, knowing nothing other than life in a cage, except when taken out for “use.” Fast forward to today and Sprout has made so much progress that one would never realize he came from a Beagle Breeding/Testing House of Horror. He is friendly and even cuddly unlike a couple of his friends who suffered the same horrors and much more physical torment at the facility. He is of course wonderful with other Beagles (but can get the entire pack into trouble at times!) and seeks out the company of people who are kind and compassionate toward him. These days, Sprout enjoys playing with toys, chewing bones, and running and cuddling with other Beagle friends. However, he also enjoys chewing plenty of things that he should not! Given his past life of living in a cage, he has had to learn how to live in a home and how to be a companion animal. To distract Sprout from getting into things and chewing things he should not, he enjoys plenty of toys, chew bones, and more toys to keep him busy and interested!! Sprout has been doing very well with housebreaking. He needs to work on feeling comfortable walking on a leash as well as riding in the car. But he is eager to learn and eager to please. Given his past, Sprout has not been forced to be in a crate in his foster home. For Sprout, potential adopters MUST…. - Have a history of experience as a pet parent to Beagles - Have at least one Beagle friend currently in the home - Live in a single family home. Sprout, like most all Beagles, enjoys spending time barking - Have a secure fenced yard (definitely no invisible fences) - Spend a minimal amount of time away from home (i.e. not work the typical 8 – 10 hour day), although Sprout has been good home alone (un-crated) in his foster home. - Remember that Sprout is a young Beagle, and very active, curious, and at times mischievous! - Live within 30 miles of Barrington IL. The above are minimal requirements with no exceptions, please. In addition, as for all of our dogs, we require a solid vet history for all current and past dogs. Sprout is fully vetted, is up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative and on year-round heart worm prevention, is neutered and microchipped. Sprout’s estimated date of birth is 06-16-2025. He currently weighs approximately 22 lbs. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this special pup, please reach out to BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 for more information on adoption.
