Story
Meet Buddy – a sweet puppy ready to discover the world Buddy is a young Basset Hound/Australian Shepherd mix who is still very much a puppy in both age and heart. He hasn’t had the chance to experience much of the world yet. At night, he sleeps in the bathroom, and during the day he’s able to wander around the apartment — but his world has been limited to those same few rooms. He rarely gets to leave the apartment at all, not even for regular outdoor potty breaks.Because he’s missed out on important early socialization and new experiences, Buddy can be a little timid at first. The outside world is still unfamiliar to him. But the wonderful thing about Buddy is how quickly he comes around. Once he feels safe, his playful, loving puppy personality shines through. He enjoys playtime, seeks out affection, and you can see how eager he is to engage and learn.Buddy isn’t shut down — he’s simply waiting for someone to show him that life can be bigger, brighter, and full of good things. With patience, positive reinforcement, and gentle exposure to new experiences, he has so much potential to grow into a confident, devoted companion. His mix of Basset curiosity and Australian Shepherd smarts means he’ll likely thrive with guidance, enrichment, and an active home ready to help him blossom.Buddy is ready to run in the grass, go on walks, learn new things, and finally just be a puppy. All he needs is someone willing to open the door to that life.If you’re looking for a loyal friend and you have the heart to help a shy young dog build confidence, Buddy is waiting for you. Story
Meet Lady Lady is a beautiful female Bloodhound with the sweetest soul. This gentle girl has been through more than any dog ever should. She was found starving and severely emaciated after being dumped and left to fend for herself in the cold. Despite the heartbreak in her past, Lady’s spirit has remained incredibly loving and trusting. She’s still working on gaining back some healthy weight, but she’s making wonderful progress every day. With good meals, warm blankets, and caring hands, Lady is blossoming into the happy, affectionate dog she was always meant to be.True to her Bloodhound nature, Lady loves to follow her nose and take in the world around her—but her favorite thing to follow is her people. She absolutely adores humans and will happily stay by your side, especially if you happen to have a snack in hand. Treats are definitely the way to her heart!Due to her rough past, Lady prefers not to share her space, or her food, with other dogs. She thrives on companionship with her people.Lady is looking for a forever home where she will never again know hunger or abandonment—only love, security, and plenty of treats. If you’re ready to open your heart to a resilient, loyal, food-loving sweetheart, Lady is ready to meet you. What her adoption fee covers:&#226&#156&#133 Spay&#226&#156&#133 Vaccines&#226&#156&#133 Microchip&#226&#156&#133 Treated for fleas and worms Interested in meeting Lady? Please email: adoption@columbiahumane.org for an application.Adoption Fee: $350For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgFebruary 23, 2026, 6:12 am
