Rescue FAQs

Columbia Humane Society is committed to compassionate sheltering by providing a safe haven for animals in transition. It is our mission to assist the community in the successful re- homing and training of adoptable animals. CHS does not have kennels that are open to public walk through we ask that you either email or call prior to coming to the shelter to meet a pet so that we can arrange a time that we can meet with you. The Columbia Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. OUR SERVICES: Pet adoptions, low-cost vaccination clinics, microchipping, low-cost pet supplies, and pet cremation services.
We serve the Pacific NW, primarily Oregon and Washington.

Cats $150.00


All cat adoption fees include leukemia testing, spaying or neutering, entire series of vaccines, de-wormer & flea treatment while at the shelter, microchipping, free vet check within 14 days of adoption at any local Columbia County Veterinarian, a complimentary adoption take-home packet and a carrier.

Puppies (under 6 months of age)................................$350.00

Dogs (over 7 months of age).......................................$250.00

All dog adoption fees include , spaying or neutering, current on vaccines, de-wormer & flea treatment while at the shelter, microchipping, free vet check within 14 days of adoption at participating local Columbia County Veterinarian, complimentary take-home adoption packet and a leash and collar.

All adoptions must be reviewed prior to approval. In order to ensure that every dog and cat goes to the appropriate home, Columbia Humane Society reserves the right to approve or deny any adoption application for any reason they see fit. A home check may be performed in order to determine suitability. Columbia Humane Society's kennels are not open to the public, all applications must be filled out prior to meeting with a pet.
