Story
Perla is a two to three year old no shed mix. Breeds we think she could be include poodle, havanese, and schnauzer. She was confiscated from a hoarding, neglect, cruelty situation along with other dogs. Her fur was a matted mess. The shelter gave her anesthesia to shave off the mats and I did the best I could to even out her very short coat. She is silkie soft and not difficult to groom. She will be even cuter when she grows a little more fluff. She was pretty traumatized and shy, especially of men, but is becoming more confident every day. My husband is making great progress winning her over. When she first arrived here I couldn't get her to come inside. Now she always wants to be where I am. She's either in my lap or in the dog bed under the table where I work. She was instantly comfortable with a visiting ten year old child. She likes other dogs, but sometimes needs to be encouraged to share a lap. She's becoming playful and likes to toss around fabric dog toys. She will need some leash training. She is crate trained for overnight and is doing very well with daytime house breaking. A new family needs to be committed to finishing that up. Story
Bella is a sweet little Poodle mix, about 2 years old and only 11 lbs. with a soft white coat, warm brown eyes, and a cheerful personality that is beginning to shine. Bella came from very poor conditions, and in just three weeks in a loving foster home she has started to discover something entirely new: comfort, companionship, playtime, walks, treats, and people she can trust. She is friendly, affectionate, and happiest when she can be near you. Bella loves to cuddle, enjoys going for walks, and gets along well with children. She is also doing beautifully with the two other dogs in her foster home. Although she is tiny, she is no pushover — she happily joins in the fun, holds her own with the other dogs, and plays until she is ready for a well-earned rest. Bella sleeps near her foster family’s bed and seems to take comfort in simply knowing her people are close by. She is mostly house trained and is beginning to understand commands and routines. She is very treat motivated, which should make continued training both easy and fun. She will bark at strangers from time to time, but she is not an excessive barker. More than anything, Bella seems eager to be part of a family and to enjoy all the ordinary things she may not have had before. What is especially touching about Bella is watching her confidence grow. After such a difficult beginning, she is learning that hands can be gentle, homes can be safe, other dogs can be friends, and people can be trusted. Bella would be wonderful for someone looking for a small, affectionate companion who enjoys walks, cuddles, playtime, and simply being close.
