Story
Meet Winston! This Australian Shepherd-Havanese blend weighs 19 lbs and is about two years old. Winston is a certified love bug who will never, never, never give up until he has found a forever family to call his own.
General Behavior: Winston is a total lover and wants to be with his human all the time when he isn't running and playing. He can be shy with men and they need to go slowly, but once he knows they are safe, he is a total cuddlebug. Winston prefers to have secure place to lay and relax when not with his human. Winston is hard of hearing, but that doesn’t slow him down! He is a good watch dog if he sees someone come to the door or if the other dog barks.
Likes & Dislikes: Winston’s very favorite thing is hanging out with his people. He likes to snuggle on a blanket with you and relax on the couch while you work, watch TV or read. He loves good belly rubs, too, so if you can work some of those in, Winston will be in heaven.
Training: Winston is a true gent. He is housetrained if let out frequently. He is working on his manners, like not jumping up on people. He is a smart boy who learns quickly. He walks well on a leash, is well-behaved in the car, and generally has good basic manners.
Medical: Although Winston is hard of hearing, he does not require any special medications for that. He just needs his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.
Other Animals: Winston will thrive in a home with a dog of his size and age that likes to play and run and do zoomies while their human watches over them. Winston hasn’t been observed around cats yet, but his foster does not think they’d get along.
Children: Winston would do best in a home with understanding, gentle teens only, who can understand that they need to take care not to startle him because he is deaf.
Home: Winston needs a single-family home: he has quite a deep bark on him! He also needs a securely fenced yard: since he is hard of hearing, he can’t hear you when you call to him.
Grooming: Winston is a fluffy boy who will need regular grooming about every six to eight weeks.
Overall: Winston will make a wonderful companion for a gentle, understanding family who can look after him, quirks and all, and who want constant companionship for cuddles.
