Sammy had always been the kind of dog who stayed close enough to hear his owner’s heartbeat. A gentle, golden‑brown mix with soft ears and a slow wag, he lived for quiet mornings, warm laps, and the steady voice that told him he was loved. But one day, that voice went silent. After his owner passed unexpectedly, Sammy found himself in a world that didn’t make sense anymore. Neighbors tried their best, speaking softly and offering treats, but Sammy kept searching the rooms for the one person who wasn’t coming back. Eventually, he was brought to the shelter — a place full of new smells, new faces, and a loneliness he didn’t know how to name. At first, Sammy curled up in the corner of his kennel, resting his head on his paws as if waiting for someone to call him home. But the staff quickly learned that beneath his grief was a heart still full of sweetness. When volunteers sat with him, he leaned gently against their legs. When children visited, he offered slow, hopeful tail wags. And when someone whispered his name, Sammy’s eyes softened, as if remembering what love felt like. He wasn’t the loudest dog or the most energetic. He didn’t bark for attention or jump at the kennel door. Sammy simply waited — quietly, patiently — for the person who would see him not as a dog who lost everything, but as a dog ready to begin again. And somewhere out there, his forever home was waiting too.

Story
This special little guy is RYAN. He is a 1 year old, 12 pound Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix who is simply a loyal lover. He is looking for someone to return his love. RYAN gets along with other dogs. I do not have cats so I am not sure how he would do in a cat home. RYAN was found in a very rural area with GROVER, a 1 year old male Chihuahua. They are best buds but they do not need to be adopted together. It would be nice but not necessary. He is not a barker and does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He was a hot mess of long matted hair when found but he was a true trouper while being groomed. He allowed the groomer to handle him and make him look gorgeous and feel better.
