Story
Marnie is a recent mom who is now looking for that special forever home. She is a cautious girl who needs a little time to decide to engage with you. She must have a fenced yard, as she will not go to the bathroom while on a leash. We believe she may have suffered past trauma related to leashes, so walking on one is not currently an activity she can do. Marnie has perfect house manners and plays well with all her toys. She also gets along well with small dogs, though she has not yet been around big dogs or children under 10 years of age. She is a loving little dog who wants nothing more than to sit by your side and have you stroke her head for as long as you are willing. She loves being with her person but is not a shadow dog. She rides well in the car and is okay being left alone for short periods of time while she is fine with cats. (An adoption fee of $500 is required.) If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form. https://www.chewdogrescue.org/adopt If you have previously submitted an application form to CHEW, there is no need to reapply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations before being placed in their forever homes.

Story
Shag is a Havanese/miniature Poodle puppy and is the cutest little dog. He loves toys and is very confident. He does well with other dogs. He is a good eater (though magically spits out his medicine). He is becoming more consistent with potty training on the pee pad. Shag is very friendly though prefers to come to you instead of being picked up. He loves snuggles and falls asleep quickly when being held. Shag likes to play and then naps often. At night, he has been in a crate with a blanket over for "night time" (as all of our dogs are crated at night) and has been doing well. He and his crate mate will wake up occasionally, but understand that it is night time. He can hold his pee at night. Shag has been good with potty training (makes his pee on the pee pad some of the time) but would benefit from more attention (it is difficult to potty train consistently with 2 puppies). He has yet to go outside to make potty. He seems very friendly with adults and kids, and other dogs. He is food motivated. Shag is a sweet boy and hopefully he will meet his forever family soon. He loves keeping up with everyone, human and dog, and would be a great addition to any family. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
Juji is a Havanese puppy. He is fun and loves cuddles and playing with his foster sister. He is a hungry boy and has a great appetite. He sleeps well in a crate with a blanket over the crate to make it a little more cosy. He uses a pee pad pretty consistently. He is good with other dogs, but hasn’t been around children. He rides well in a car. He is a sweet little boy and gets more adventuresome every day. He is so easy to love. -----

Story
This special little guy is RYAN. He is a 1 year old, 12 pound Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix who is simply a loyal lover. He is looking for someone to return his love. RYAN gets along with other dogs. I do not have cats so I am not sure how he would do in a cat home. RYAN was found in a very rural area with GROVER, a 1 year old male Chihuahua. They are best buds but they do not need to be adopted together. It would be nice but not necessary. He is not a barker and does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He was a hot mess of long matted hair when found but he was a true trouper while being groomed. He allowed the groomer to handle him and make him look gorgeous and feel better. If you are interested in adopting RYAN, please submit an application on the website below. Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org
