Story
Poppy is being fostered in Ringwood IL Drum roll please!!!! Introducing Poppy!  This little munchkin weighs all of 11lbs.  She is a female Havanese, salt and pepper colored, meaning she is black with white hair dabbled in and has a white stripe on her chest and her belly. Her date of birth is 11/26/2022.   Poppy grew up in a breeder's home and is probably a papered and registered Havanese; but we don't have any of those things.  Her original person was a Champion show breeder.  She came to MASR because her person fell ill and wasn't able to take care of her and several other Havanese.  Poppy has been well cared for in her previous home but is looking for a new lap to hang out on.   She is potty trained and crate trained, although we think she probably doesn't need a crate at all.  She is crated in her foster home because all the other dogs in the house are HUGE compared to this little girlie.   Poppy will be a flight risk in her new home until she bonds to her person and gets to know the routine.  Currently in her foster home, she has a HUGE yard and an aluminum fence and she can fit right through it like it's a weave pole so she is on leash 24/7.  Poppy is a little nervous when a human reaches for her, but she will follow her human everywhere all over the house.  Poppy has become incredibly fond of the 87 year old woman - with a walker -  in her foster home.  She loves to sit in her lap, snuggle and be brushed.  Poppy walks well on leash, but gets little leash zoomies and will pull a little but because she is only 11 lbs, she doesn't really pull hard.  When she gets excited, she makes the cutest little noises and is quite this little talker. Poppy was picked on by the other dogs in her previous home, so its a must that the dogs in her forever home are nice to her, but she really doesn't even need another dog, as long as she has a lap to sit on, she will be so happy.  Right now Poppy sleeps in a crate at night, but we think she would be happiest with some little stairs and sleeping in bed with her human.   Are you interesting in giving this adorable little girlie a lap to snuggle on and a bed to call her own? Complete an adoption application today.   Poppy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases, microchipped and taking prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2739329##

Younger children are just too much for mePotty & crate manners: I am great at going potty outside and will bark by the door to let you know I have to go. I go in my crate when asked. If you’re looking for a sweet low-key friend, Willie is your guy. Willie came into rescue as his owner could no longer keep him. He was very loved and well cared for. Willie is a sweet guy hoping for a quiet home where he can enjoy his senior years. Willie likes to hang back and can be a bit nervous in new situations, just needing some patience and time to adjust. He currently takes prescription food and treats daily to help him be calmer. He does like to “leave his mark” in new places, so using a belly band can be helpful while he settles in. Willie is very well behaved and easy to care for. Just give him a soft place to lay, sometime outside and a relaxed walk and he’s happy as can be. An online application can be found at SandiPaws.org for this little guyThank you for choosing SandiPaws Rescue. Please visit our site at https://www.sandipaws.org to fill out an application to adopt. You can find information for volunteering and donations on our site as well.

Story
Meet Scooter! I’m a 7‑year‑old, 25lb Havanese mix with a clean bill of health. I recently lost my owner & I’m still adjusting. I’m looking for a quiet home where I can be the only dog & soak up all the attention. I would do best with someone who works from home or who is home often. My adoption profile gets a lot of attention (because let’s face it, I’m adorable) but underneath my good looks, I’m an anxious guy that gets quite overwhelmed in new environments & around new people. It can take me several weeks to fully warm up in a new home. I need someone who is patient and experienced with skittish dogs like me & will give me the time and space I need to settle in. The anxiety meds I’m on as well as a few drops of Rescue Remedy that get added to my water every day are helping a lot.Affection & playtime are on my terms, especially in the beginning. But once you’ve earned my trust (and you’ll work hard for it), I’m a real sweetheart that will follow you around until it’s time to snuggle up for the night. I love to nap and lounge the day away and although I don’t require a whole lot of exercise, I do enjoy a couple daily walks. I also enjoy running zoomies around the yard and rough housing with my foster mom on the couch. I might be an older pooch but I still have plenty of energy and will need an adopter that can keep up.I’m a smart boy who’s treat motivated and I would benefit greatly from learning a few more commands or tricks to increase my confidence. Like most anxious dogs, I need a pack leader that is loving but firm, so I don’t regress in my behavior. I was recently trained to wait in my “spot” until the humans are done eating their meals, then I’m rewarded with a yummy treat. They were impressed with how quickly I caught on.I sleep soundly through the night (preferably next to you), and I’ll go potty outside as I’m supposed to. With an established routine, accidents are no issue. I get along fine with friendly dogs but I don’t care to engage much; I prefer to be near my humans. Cats are unknown but I’d probably just ignore them, too. Since smaller children make me nervous, older dog savvy kids only please. If you think you’ll be my perfect match, apply to meet me today!DATCP #483538
