Story
Vanna is an approximately 5 year old Havanese who is just beginning to learn what safety and kindness feel like after being discarded by a breeder. She needs a very specific home, ideally with someone who has experience with undersocialized breeder dogs. Vanna is extremely fearful of people and of the world around her, although she has shown to find comfort in very calm large breed dogs. She will need a long, patient decompression period to begin feeling secure. She is timid about eating in front of people and needs consistency at mealtimes to help her gain weight. Due to her deeply rooted fear, she is currently afraid to go potty outside and relies on pee pads as she builds confidence. Vanna will do best in a very quiet, low traffic home with someone who expects nothing from her socially and is willing to let her move entirely at her own pace. Although she is just beginning to experience life with people, she will allow gentle handling. A calm household with minimal visitors is essential. No kids, no chaos, and lots of patience. In the right home, with time and understanding, Vanna has the potential to slowly blossom, with progress measured in small but meaningful wins. She is up to date on vaccines, is spayed, and takes monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. An adopter should expect to attend multiple meet and greets with Vanna to ensure full understanding of the care she not only requires, but deserves.
