Story
*Note: Benny is in Korea now but will be flying to Vancouver once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.BackgroundBenny’s story began on the streets. After being taken to a high-kill shelter, his name appeared on the euthanasia list but fate had other plans. He was saved just in time, and today Benny lives happily alongside other dogs at a boarding house, waiting for the forever home he so deserves.Personality and SocializationBenny is a gentle, sweet, and wonderfully social boy with a medium energy level that makes him an easy, adaptable companion. He loves the company of other dogs, especially those around his own size. He plays well with them and genuinely thrives in their company. With people, Benny is an absolute cuddle bug. He’s warm and affectionate, loves attention, and has no fear of men. Whether it’s snuggle time on the sofa or simply being near his people, Benny is happiest when he feels connected.BehaviourBenny is a well-mannered, easy-going boy in day-to-day life. He walks beautifully on a leash and loves his outdoor time. He is calm and comfortable in the car, and is equally patient and well-behaved during baths, nail clipping, and grooming sessions. For potty, he prefers to go outdoors but will use indoor pee pads when needed. He currently shows no separation anxiety when in the company of other dogs.Health and DietBenny is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped, and receives monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry food twice a day and has shown no signs of food allergies. There are two health conditions to be aware of. Benny was diagnosed with Stage B2 heart disease and requires daily heart medication. He is stable and well-managed, and to help with the transition, Benny will come with two months of heart medication included. Benny has also recently developed nuclear sclerosis, a natural age-related change to the lens of the eye that causes a mild hazy appearance. It does not cause significant vision loss and requires no treatment. It is a common symptom associated with aging.Ideal HomeBenny doesn’t ask for much. He just wants to be loved. His ideal family is someone who can give him plenty of time and companionship. A work-from-home professional or retiree would be a wonderful match. Most importantly, his new family should be comfortable managing his heart medication and attending routine vet check-ups. In return, Benny will give you everything he has: unconditional love, endless loyalty, and all the cuddles you could ever want. Could you be the one he’s been waiting for?*Note: Benny is in Korea now but will be flying to Vancouver once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.

Story
When Mulberry was captured by urban management, he was not in pretty shape - he had a cataract in his eye, his fur was matted, long, and dirty. We suspect he was abandoned by his owner due to his old age and eye problem. One day Mulberry couldn't get up from his crate, he was immediately taken to the vet and we found out he had pancreatitis. After his care ended, someone said they would adopt Mulberry so our rescuer fought to get him out of the urban management shelter. Unfortunately, they backed out. Now, Mulberry lives with many other dogs at the rescuer's own sanctuary, but we hope someone kind can bring him home and give him the life he deserves. This poor boy had been through so much, yet still so kind and friendly. Mulberry is currently in China, and available to fly to you in the coming months. Please send us an email if you are interested in learning more about him and our adoption process!

Story
Meet Jerry Currently in Calgary! Name: Jerry Age: 3 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Poodle Color: Brown / Weight: 4.2 kg Height: 30 cm   Rescue Story Jerry was rescued from a city shelter in Korea before euthanasia. He is now looking for a patient and understanding home that can provide the structure, time, and support he needs.   ‍‍‍ Social with People Jerry is an affectionate dog who enjoys being near people and likes companionship. Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys attention, pets, and relaxing near his trusted people.   He can be sensitive when touched unexpectedly, especially around his hind end, and prefers gentle, respectful handling. He does best when interactions happen calmly and on his terms.   Due to behaviors observed in his current home, Jerry is looking for an adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy teenagers.   Social with Other Dogs Jerry will politely greet unfamiliar dogs and sniff them, but he does not show strong interest in playing. He is generally independent and enjoys having his own space.   Cats When he sees cats during walks, Jerry tends to remain focused on his handler and has not shown strong reactions.   Energy Level Jerry has a moderate energy level. He enjoys walks and outdoor time, but also likes resting quietly for much of the day.   Walking Jerry walks well on leash and generally follows his handler without excessive pulling.   Home Life & Personality Jerry enjoys a calm, predictable routine. In his previous foster home, he often rested quietly on his cushion while his foster parent worked nearby.   Like many rescue dogs, Jerry can find major life transitions challenging. During his adjustment period in a new home, he has been observed pacing at times, having difficulty settling, and showing increased attachment to his people. These behaviors may improve as he becomes more comfortable and secure in his environment.   Jerry has also shown some resource guarding and defensive behaviors around high-value items and toys in his current home. His future family should be prepared to manage these behaviors with positive reinforcement, structure, calm boundaries, and professional guidance if needed.   He enjoys enrichment activities such as food puzzles, nosework games, snuffle mats, chew items, and treat-searching games.   Ideal Home Jerry would do best with someone who:   • Has experience with anxious or sensitive dogs • Uses positive reinforcement methods • Can provide a calm and predictable routine • Understands the importance of decompression and boundaries • Is comfortable continuing confidence-building and enrichment activities • Has no young children in the home   Jerry may not be the right dog for every home, but for someone who understands sensitive dogs and is willing to give him the time and support he needs, he has so much love and companionship to offer.
