Story
Meet Magnum! Magnum knows he’s handsome — and honestly, he’s not wrong. Named after the iconic 80’s TV heartthrob, this guy may not be Tom Selleck, but in his own mind? Total leading man. Magnum doesn’t just walk… he STRUTS. Magnum is about 2 years old, weighs around 28 pounds (currently rocking a little extra fluff), and is a proud short king. He’s a corgi mix and very much looks the part! We were told his background includes dachshund and bully breed dogs, and we suspect there may be some jack russell or rat terrier in the mix — but those corgi genes are loud and proud. He came to us with around 24 other dogs from a situation where intact dogs were allowed to interbreed for years, and resources were limited. Because of this, Magnum is still working on housetraining. His biggest challenge is a combo of being very smart and still wanting to mark — he was recently neutered, so this behavior should continue to improve with time and consistency. The good news? He already waits by the door to go outside to poop and is crate trained. And when we say smart, we mean it. If Magnum were a few inches taller, he’d absolutely be opening doors. He already knows how to paw open a pen that isn’t secured properly, so his future family should be ready to keep one step ahead of him. He’s highly food motivated and eager to learn, which will be a huge asset in continued training. Magnum can be nervous in new situations since he didn’t get much exposure to the outside world early on, but he gains confidence quickly once he realizes he’s safe. Because he’s still learning leash skills and adjusting to new environments, a home with a securely fenced yard is a must. He would do best with someone who has prior dog experience, so he’s not recommended as a first-time dog. He has not been around cats or kids to our knowledge. Socially, Magnum does well with other dogs and absolutely melts for affection. He loves head and ear scratches, belly rubs, and soaking up attention from his people. We’re still getting to know this confident little gentleman, and his bio will be updated as we learn more. If you’re looking for a smart, funny, charming dog with a big personality packed into a short body, Magnum just might be your guy If you are interested in adopting Magnum, please fill out an application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAY/Dog **Applications can take anywhere from 5-7 business days to complete.
