Story
Wanda has already endured more loss than any dog should. She was found lying in a field beside her deceased companion—a beautiful white Husky—and she refused to leave his side. Even in the face of that heartbreak, Wanda remained gentle, quiet, and trusting toward the people who came to help her.
When Wanda entered care, she was evaluated by a veterinarian and discovered to be in the very early stages of pregnancy. At the time, she had already received vaccinations and was taking pain medication and anti-inflammatories for a leg injury. Because of the risk of birth defects and complications, the veterinary team determined that the safest and most humane option was to proceed with a spay and pregnancy termination. Wanda handled the procedure well and is now fully spayed and medically stable.
Her leg pain appears to be related to an older knee injury with a small amount of arthritis, which can flare up in cold weather. Most of the time, Wanda is comfortable and mobile and does not let it slow her down.
After her initial rescue, Wanda experienced several transitions, including a brief escape during a potty break and a short shelter stay. Despite the upheaval, she has remained sweet and resilient. She is currently safe, but she urgently needs a stable foster or adoptive home where she can finally decompress and feel secure.
