Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $150 is sponsored.  We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 17, 2026, 3:30 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Darrow arrived at the shelter on 8/7/2026, from one of our local rescue friends. He's an approximately 7 year old red heeler mix. We were told there could be some corgi in there, but he looks a lot like a purebred heeler. He's a really nice boy! Darrow has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Darrow lived outside most of his life and was abandoned by his owners when they moved. However, he's pretty well-mannered and keeps a very clean kennel. He's one of the happiest dogs we've ever met! He loves people. He kind of goes with the flow of things. He might need a little basic training and will require regular exercise. A home that has some experience with herding breeds like him would be great. We do think he would do okay with other respectful dogs. Cats? It's hard to say. Kids over 5 would be best.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nala was originally adopted from us at 9 weeks of age back in February 2025. She was part of a litter of 8 and the mother dog was a tan husky-type mix with blue eyes. She was returned to the shelter on 8/28/2026 after 18 months in her home as her family's life became busier and they realized they didn't have enough time to devote to her. Nala looks to be a mix of pit bull, husky, and shepherd. She's a fit young dog who will be 2 years old in December and is between medium and large in size. Nala has been fully vetted, microchipped, and her fee is $150. Nala is a very strong and active dog. She will require a lot of regular exercise and would make a great walking/running partner. She has had some basic training but would love more. She's a loving dog who did live with kids and has done well with other dogs. Cats are most likely a no as she does tend to chase them. She would make a great addition to an active family. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
