Story
Jonah is a sweet Siberian husky/malamute with a big personality and is afavorite among shelter staff and volunteers - exceptionally goofy, playful, sweet, and a total cuddle bug who loves his people. Jonah has spent several months in foster, where he immediately thrived. Athome, Jonah is chill, independent, and adaptable. He is house trained,non-destructive, sleeps 10+ hours overnight, and can be left at home for 6-8+ hours (after proper exercise). He loves to nap almost as much as heloves being with his people. He can be vocal but is not a husky howler, andhe has never shown escape tendencies. His favorite activities are walking, visiting the beach, and receiving belly rubs.Jonah responds best to clear behavior and predictability/consistency (inboth routine and body language). While new people or confusing behaviorscan excite him initially, it doesn’t take too long for him to observe, figure outhow this new part of his world works, and go back to his sleepy self. At times, Jonah has spurts of energy and excitement which can bemanaged since he is very smart, and food motivated. He has already comea long way when it comes to leash-pulling, recall, prey-drive (squirrels, mouse, rabbits) and impulse control, and he’s still making progress.Jonah is truly a one-of-a-kind dog who will brighten anyone’s life. He woulddo best with patient, husky, or malamute-familiar adopters with an activelifestyle, who can help keep him physically and mentally stimulated as partof the foundation for his training progress as well managing a large, strongdog, and advocating for Jonah’s communication style with new people. Jonah has so much potential and love to give. He is ready for his foreverhome!

Story
Hi, I’m Kodak and I’m a 9 month old Male Siberian Husky currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! Kodak is a 9-month-old Husky puppy who has already overcome more than most dogs his age ever should. After being hit by a car, he was surrendered and required an amputation. Through it all, Kodak has remained incredibly positive and he's recovering with the medical care and support he needs. Like any young Husky, Kodak is curious, intelligent, and ready to embrace life. He's learning how to navigate the world on three legs, and so far, he's proving that having one less leg doesn't stop him from enjoying all the things puppies love: exploring, playing, and spending time with his people. In his previous home, Kodak lived with children and did well with them. He spent most of his time indoors with the family and enjoyed being part of the household. While he has not lived with other dogs, he has done well around them while out and about. He has also lived with a cat and can successfully coexist with feline friends when given a slow, thoughtful introduction. As a young puppy, Kodak is still a blank slate when it comes to training. His future family should be prepared to continue teaching him basic manners, provide structure and guidance, and help him grow into the amazing adult dog he's capable of becoming. What he is looking for most is a family that sees him for who he is—not a dog missing a leg, but a dog full of potential, love, and determination. His journey hasn't been easy, but he's ready for his next chapter: a forever home where he can leave his difficult past behind and focus on being a happy, beloved puppy. If you're looking for a companion with a big heart, an inspiring spirit, and a lifetime of love to give, Kodak is ready to meet you. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Story
This stunning shepherd mix is an easy-going lady who just wants to be by yourside with a stuffy toy or a ball in her mouth. Easy to handle and walk and friendly to everyone she meets, fosters consistently give her high marks. No specific info on how she is with children, but her easygoing nature makes her a good candidate. It`s clear she has known a home and love and care, and is, understandably suffering in the kennel environment. Please come meet her and take her out for a day (or night, or week!) to see what a wonderful dog she is.
