Story
Jonah is a sweet Siberian husky/malamute with a big personality and is afavorite among shelter staff and volunteers - exceptionally goofy, playful, sweet, and a total cuddle bug who loves his people. Jonah has spent several months in foster, where he immediately thrived. Athome, Jonah is chill, independent, and adaptable. He is house trained,non-destructive, sleeps 10+ hours overnight, and can be left at home for 6-8+ hours (after proper exercise). He loves to nap almost as much as heloves being with his people. He can be vocal but is not a husky howler, andhe has never shown escape tendencies. His favorite activities are walking, visiting the beach, and receiving belly rubs.Jonah responds best to clear behavior and predictability/consistency (inboth routine and body language). While new people or confusing behaviorscan excite him initially, it doesn’t take too long for him to observe, figure outhow this new part of his world works, and go back to his sleepy self. At times, Jonah has spurts of energy and excitement which can bemanaged since he is very smart, and food motivated. He has already comea long way when it comes to leash-pulling, recall, prey-drive (squirrels, mouse, rabbits) and impulse control, and he’s still making progress.Jonah is truly a one-of-a-kind dog who will brighten anyone’s life. He woulddo best with patient, husky, or malamute-familiar adopters with an activelifestyle, who can help keep him physically and mentally stimulated as partof the foundation for his training progress as well managing a large, strongdog, and advocating for Jonah’s communication style with new people. Jonah has so much potential and love to give. He is ready for his foreverhome!

Story
Hi, I'm Kiki — a 2-year-old Siberian Husky with a striking white coat and an extravagant tail to match my bold personality! I am available at the Santa Barbara campus. I'd like to say I'm a typical Husky, but that wouldn't do my unique personality justice! I do have a few classic Husky traits—I'm happy to chat when I absolutely must tell you something—but once I've had the chance to zoom around the yard and burn off some energy, I'm great at settling down and relaxing. I'm housetrained, so I'm ready to settle right into my new home. While I've already mastered that important skill, I'd still benefit from a little continued training to polish up my basic manners. I'm eager to learn, and with consistency and patience, I'll be an amazing companion. I've lived happily with other dogs before, though I can be a little selective about my canine friends. If you already have a dog at home, I'd love to meet them first to make sure we're a good match. My adventurous spirit means I'm always ready for fun! Whether it's a brisk walk, exploring a new trail, playing in the yard, or working on fun training games, I love staying active and spending time with my people. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Dash is a stunning young husky with unforgettable heterochromia and a baby-soft coat that turns heads everywhere he goes. Shelter life has been tough on this active boy—he has a lot of energy and nowhere to channel it—but put another dog by his side and you’ll see him completely transform. His stress melts away, his confidence grows, and his happy, playful personality shines through.Dash would thrive in a home with another fun-loving dog to be his built-in best friend. He’s done wonderfully with both male and female dogs and enjoys group play. With canine companionship, he’s truly a joy to have around. In the home, Dash is already checking all the right boxes: he’s potty trained, comfortable in a crate, and once he warms up, very affectionate with his people. His overnight foster reported zero counter surfing or destructive behavior—paired with another dog, he was an absolute dream.Like most young huskies, Dash is still working on his leash manners. He can be a puller and is very eager to say hello to other dogs (enthusiasm over manners!), but he’s friendly and doesn’t bark.Dash is ready to leave the shelter behind and start his next chapter—could that be with you and a canine sibling?

Meet Troy — a spunky young husky who is ready to bring everything you love about the breed into your life.Talkative? Absolutely. Obsessed with water? Yes. Ready to run? Always. If you know and love huskies, Troy is your guy.At his best, Troy is an absolute joy — romping through playgroup with other dogs, charming every person he meets, and filling a home with personality and noise (the good kind). He`s affectionate, fun-loving, and thrives with canine company, though he`s a little selective about his friends. Troy is working on his reactivity to other dogs on leash and behind a fence, so he`ll need an experienced home that understands the breed and can give him the structure and patience to keep making progress. A wrestling buddy at home could be a dream scenario for this guy.Shelter life is starting to wear on him — he`s losing weight and showing stress, which is why he`s been added to our urgent list. Troy deserves so much better than a kennel, and we know the right home is out there for him.

Story
Beau is a 5 month old sweetheart who needs a loving home! He LOVES people and is great with kids and dogs! Beau’s ideal home would be an active household with a big yard and another dog to play with and learn from. As a husky, he is rambunctious of course, but when given adequate attention he is a very mild mannered, smart and silly boy who is SO easy to love! We’ve been fostering him since he was a baby, and would keep him in an instant if our landlord would allow it. But nevertheless we’ve given him a wonderful foundation to be a stellar dog!

These pups are in Goleta, California too!

Story
Tundra didn`t get the best start to life, which is very sad for an Akita, since connection to family is so important for the them. She was underweightand in some pain, but has responded to better diet and care. She is looking good now!True to the breed standard, Tundra is dignified, independent and aloof to strangers, but has a silly playful side once she gets to know you, especially when a krinkly or squeaky stuffy is involved. She is a phenomenal leash walker (no pulling or weaving) and does well on trail, even when off leash dogs approach her on a hike. That said, while neutral, she does not enjoy the companionship of other dogs. Unlike many of the dogs here, Tundra L.O.V.E.S. CAR RIDES. You will be the star wherever you drive with this looker sticking her majestic head out the window. Her advocate even bought her a pair of hot pink `doggles` to protect her beautiful brown eyes from high winds. Frankly, you`ll be the star wherever you go with Tundra--she`s just that mesmerizing. At a recent bath at Lemo`s, staff and customers were admiring her looks (obvi) but by what a calm girl she was during her bath. And if Tundra had to pick a favorite thing besides crinkly toys, BRUSHING is it. Girl knows her coat needs to stay luxurious!Come meet this elegant and impressive creature. She is truly one of a kind.
