Story
Jonah is a sweet Siberian husky/malamute with a big personality and is afavorite among shelter staff and volunteers - exceptionally goofy, playful, sweet, and a total cuddle bug who loves his people. Jonah has spent several months in foster, where he immediately thrived. Athome, Jonah is chill, independent, and adaptable. He is house trained,non-destructive, sleeps 10+ hours overnight, and can be left at home for 6-8+ hours (after proper exercise). He loves to nap almost as much as heloves being with his people. He can be vocal but is not a husky howler, andhe has never shown escape tendencies. His favorite activities are walking, visiting the beach, and receiving belly rubs.Jonah responds best to clear behavior and predictability/consistency (inboth routine and body language). While new people or confusing behaviorscan excite him initially, it doesn’t take too long for him to observe, figure outhow this new part of his world works, and go back to his sleepy self. At times, Jonah has spurts of energy and excitement which can bemanaged since he is very smart, and food motivated. He has already comea long way when it comes to leash-pulling, recall, prey-drive (squirrels, mouse, rabbits) and impulse control, and he’s still making progress.Jonah is truly a one-of-a-kind dog who will brighten anyone’s life. He woulddo best with patient, husky, or malamute-familiar adopters with an activelifestyle, who can help keep him physically and mentally stimulated as partof the foundation for his training progress as well managing a large, strongdog, and advocating for Jonah’s communication style with new people. Jonah has so much potential and love to give. He is ready for his foreverhome!

Story
Hi there! My name is Ariel and I'm a 7 month old Female Husky/Retriever Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! Every princess deserves a happily ever after… and Ariel is ready to find hers. Just like the princess she's named after, she's discovering that there's a whole world beyond what she's always known. Ariel came to us after her person faced unexpected housing challenges and could no longer keep her. In her previous home, she didn't have many opportunities to meet new people or other dogs, so new experiences can be a little overwhelming at first. With a little patience, you'll quickly see her sweet, affectionate personality shine through. One place that Ariel truly sparkles in is playgroup! She has a loose, wiggly play style that makes other dogs want to be her BFF. She's learning that making friends is pretty magical, and her confidence continues to grow every day. This princess is also crate trained and has already been introduced to walking on a treadmill, where she happily trots along like she's training for her next adventure. With her young age and eager-to-learn attitude, she's ready to continue building confidence while learning all sorts of new skills. Are you ready to help this young princess turn into a wonderful queen? Ariel is waiting for you! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Dash is a stunning young husky with unforgettable heterochromia and a baby-soft coat that turns heads everywhere he goes. Shelter life has been tough on this active boy—he has a lot of energy and nowhere to channel it—but put another dog by his side and you’ll see him completely transform. His stress melts away, his confidence grows, and his happy, playful personality shines through.Dash would thrive in a home with another fun-loving dog to be his built-in best friend. He’s done wonderfully with both male and female dogs and enjoys group play. With canine companionship, he’s truly a joy to have around. In the home, Dash is already checking all the right boxes: he’s potty trained, comfortable in a crate, and once he warms up, very affectionate with his people. His overnight foster reported zero counter surfing or destructive behavior—paired with another dog, he was an absolute dream.Like most young huskies, Dash is still working on his leash manners. He can be a puller and is very eager to say hello to other dogs (enthusiasm over manners!), but he’s friendly and doesn’t bark.Dash is ready to leave the shelter behind and start his next chapter—could that be with you and a canine sibling?

Story
Meet Troy — a spunky young husky who is ready to bring everything you love about the breed into your life.Talkative? Absolutely. Obsessed with water? Yes. Ready to run? Always. If you know and love huskies, Troy is your guy.At his best, Troy is an absolute joy — romping through playgroup with other dogs, charming every person he meets, and filling a home with personality and noise (the good kind). He`s affectionate, fun-loving, and thrives with canine company, though he`s a little selective about his friends. Troy is working on his reactivity to other dogs on leash and behind a fence, so he`ll need an experienced home that understands the breed and can give him the structure and patience to keep making progress. A wrestling buddy at home could be a dream scenario for this guy.Shelter life is starting to wear on him — he`s losing weight and showing stress, which is why he`s been added to our urgent list. Troy deserves so much better than a kennel, and we know the right home is out there for him.

Story
While we won`t know without a DNA test, we`re thinking that Chiquito is a `Pit-usky` But he doesn`t seem to have any of the more challenging behaviors associated with Huskies (howling, escaping, etc.) He does well in his kennel, not appearing stressed. He`s only been here for a few weeks, but has been out on various day trips and the themes are all the same: `laid back` `cuddly` `calm when waiting` `doesn`t beg too bad for snacks` `good walker` `Great in the car`. The cutest thing we get from all his reviews is how happily he rolls in the grass (or sand!) offering his belly. I can testify to that myself, since I took his profile picture, which shows his beautiful smile after a vigorous roll in the grass. Come meet him. He`s a sweet boy.

Story
Beau is a 4.5 month old stud. He came to us as a tiny baby taken too early from his litter, from a home that was not equipped to care for a husky. We’ve been fostering him ever since. We would love to keep him, but as we have 2 other dogs and a cat, our landlord will not allow it. Beau is great with dogs (small and large) once he gets to know them, but will need more training on meeting new dogs, as he gets anxious with them, especially on leash. He has chased our cat, but should also be able to learn to live with the right one if necessary. He is very smart and already knows basic commands. He needs someone who can dedicate lots of time to training and exercising him. Right now, he acts out when left alone. He needs someone who can spend the majority of their time with him until he gets older. We want to find someone who is an experienced dog owner, ideally husky’s specifically. He is adorable and will be a wonderful companion to anyone who can handle him!

Story
MEET BASS & TENOR! This happy and loving duo has waited much too long for a home but we can't split them up. They are a loving, fun pair of playful dogs who need a foster or forever home! They are very affectionate toward people, and love, love, love each other. They are likely brothers, who found themselves at a crowded California shelter with no adoption interest. Fortunately they were rescued but still haven't found a home yet. They must be adopted together as they are extremely bonded. Both are almost 8 years old. Bass, the brown-and-white pup, weighs only 55 lbs., and Tenor (tan and white) weighs about 60 lbs. They are fun, active pups who love to run, play and snuggle with each other. They would love to be adopted by someone who could take them on hikes, walks and other outings. They currently play with each other for entertainment but it'd be great for them to branch out and see the world. Bass & Tenor love to jump up and give kisses. They are not super friendly with other dogs, so should be the only dogs in the home - but they have plenty of love to give and will be grateful to whomever adopts them. If you can foster or adopt Bass & Tenor, please email for an application. They are currently in Southern California but can be transported to Minnesota. They love the snow!

These pups are in Goleta, California too!

Story
Hi there! My name is Aquarius and I'm a 8 month old female Chow Chow/Newfoundland mix at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! Resilient, loyal, sensitive. These are only a few of the qualities that describe our floofy dark haired girl. Aquarius is true to the Chow breed, she picks her person and makes them her world. We are talking gaze into your soul type of loyalty, follow you around the house and never let you leave her sight type of loyalty. You are the center of the universe and everyone else is an extra. She is her happiest self when she can be curled up at the feet of her person or playing with her dog pals. Also true to the breed, she can be shy when first meeting new people and may require multiple visits from her potential family in order to become comfortable enough to show her playful personality. She would do best with a patient adopter who can show her the world isn't so scary and who won't mind a big furry creature as their new shadow. While she can be timid with new people, she LOVES other dogs and would benefit from having another confident dog in the home whom she can learn from, although this is not a requirement. Aquarius previously lived in a home with young children and has decided that this go around she would prefer to go without, too much noise she says. No judgment girl. If adopting Aquarius sounds like it might be written in the stars, she's waiting at the Santa Barbara Campus! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Tundra didn`t get the best start to life, which is very sad for an Akita, since connection to family is so important for the them. She was underweightand in some pain, but has responded to better diet and care.True to the breed standard, Tundra is dignified, independent and aloof to strangers, but has a silly playful side once she gets to know you. Truth be told, she is adorable to watch play with a squeaky stuffy. She does well on the leash, and like most Akitas is only medium energy, though a volunteer who is a runner said she did very well. She is newer to us, so check back as we learn more about this regal gal.
