Story
MEET TENOR & BASS! Would you like a pair of happy-go-lucky and playful dogs who will smother you with kisses, greet you at the door and smile at you much of the day? That's pretty much what you'll get if you foster or adopt Bass & Tenor, a very bonded pair of husky mixes. They are each about 4 years old, rescued from a shelter well over a year ago. We are determined to keep them together because they love each other so much. Bass is brown-and-white and weighs 55 lbs., and Tenor is tan-and-white and weighs 60 lbs. Both boys are active and fun pups who need people on the go! They play with each other for entertainment, but would love to go on walks and hikes or runs! They would thrive with an active person, people, or a family with older kids. They occasionally like to jump up and give kisses, so would do best in a home without smaller children. They are not super friendly with other dogs but will give you all the attention you need as they are so affectionate, loving and loyal. Please email for an application.

Story
HI - I'M COTTON! I'm a 3-year-old pure white male Siberian Husky in need of a foster or forever home! I have gorgeous blue eyes! I was recently rescued from an overcrowded shelter, where I was kenneled with another male dog without any issue. I am dog friendly and people friendly, and a wonderful size -- I weigh only 45 lbs. Like most huskies I am not good with farm animals but would be a great addition to almost any home. I would do best with an active person or people who can get me the husky exercise I need. Please email for an application.

Story
HELLO THERE, I'M JAMES, a 2-year-old husky mix rescued from a California shelter. I've got a heart full of love and a spirit full of curiosity. My friends say I'm gentle and smart, and I agree. Cuddles and scratches? Oh, I love those! I'm always up for a good snuggle session. I get along well with my fellow canine pals, and my playful nature is sure to keep you entertained. I'm a medium-sized bundle of joy, ready to bring love and happiness into your life. Why should you adopt me? Because I promise to be the most loving, loyal, and playful companion you'll ever have. I weigh only about 50 lbs. and am currently looking for a foster or forever home.

Story
Blanco is a very happy guy; he loves to run and play and resembles a horse, especially as his long legs give him a ground covering stride. He equally loves to snuggle and truly believes he is a lap dog. He loves to lay across your lap and squirm around like a toddler. He doesn't like to be "patted" as that seems a bit fear inducing to him, but he likes to be petted in other ways. Blanco needs an experienced owner who won’t let him get away with being pushy when he wants something. Seriously, personal boundaries are not his forte. Do we hear people say: “Duh, he is a husky!”? Consequently, he jumps on people and gets a little nippy when he first meets them or when he gets excited but he settles back down pretty quickly, at least with adults. We haven’t seen him with medium or young children but he would probably get too rambunctious with them as he jumps on big kids. Blanco enjoys playing in the backyard as long as someone is with him. If that person goes inside, he scales the 4 or so foot fence or opens the gate. Luckily, he comes running as soon as called since he isn’t trying to run off but to get back with his people. He will need a tall fence to keep him contained. He does well to sit and will play fetch. Blanco does great in a 6’ tall chain-link pen in a climate-controlled garage with Coco and rarely has accidents. He goes right in when his foster mom opens the door. Surprisingly he hasn't torn up his bed or any toys. In fact, his foster mom hasn’t seen any destructive behavior. He tolerates a bath and enjoys being brushed – and regular brushing is needed! He doesn’t resource guard, but he will push other dogs away from “his” person and can be kind of rude about it. Fireworks and loud noises don't bother him. Blanco has been good with dogs in some situations and not others. He seems okay meeting new dogs but once they start to share space and he bonds to people he is less amenable, especially if his “backup”, Coco is with him. There is a dynamic between them that can be problematic, especially when they gang up, and they will probably do best if adopted into separate homes. Skills and sociability with cats - saw the family cat through the window and didn't care. Skills and sociability with other animals - not tested. Takes to one person mostly or the whole family? So far, mostly takes to his foster mom. Leash walking - does ok. Off leash - does well. In car - does great. In public places - does ok. Responding when called – great. Barking/howling/talking - high pitched bark when he's ready to be let out or he sees another dog in his territory. Crate and kennel trained – yes. Door dashing, runs off – sometimes. Stealing food from kids/counter surfing – no. Ok in apartment? - yes, if he gets to go out enough. Blanco is approximately 1 year old as of June, 2023 and probably a Siberian husky mix. He arrived with Coqueta (Coco) from California on June 10. They were surrendered from the same household to a shelter there. If you're interested in Blanco, please fill out the pre-adoption application on Linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

Story
Coco is very sweet. She loves being petted and wags her tail the entire time her person is talking to her and petting her. She enjoys running and playing. She's completely fine on her own, displaying almost aloof behavior and an independent personality. Once she has done her own thing, she's happy to come get love. She does not jump on people and is very gentle. She has an adorable, prancy trot. Since she seems to be good with everyone in the household, she should make a really nice family pet. That being said, she resource-guards food which could create issues with young children and toddlers. With dogs she can participate in a training session with treats involved (assuming they do not get scattered on the ground) but must be fed her meals separately. Coco will generally sit when asked. When her foster mom throws a toy, she runs to it, but doesn't pick it up. She is great on leash and off leash she mostly comes when called when there are not very powerful distractions around. She is housetrained and does well staying in a kennel run in the garage when her foster mom leaves. When someone is home she barks & whines to let you know she's ready to go out. She hasn't displayed any destructive behavior and could probably do fine in an apartment as long as she gets a decent amount of exercise and mental stimulation (like sniff walks). She does great in a car; just sits in seat! She alert-barks when new people come to the home but is generally friendly with strangers. Coco’s interaction with other dogs in the home is mixed. She is fine with Blanco who she lived with before and may be her son though they get problematic together when they go into pack mode. She started out okay in her foster home with the resident male dog but then began picking fights so she and Blanco can no longer be together with that dog; this may be a pattern of not accepting other dogs once she starts settling in and feeling at home. Skills and sociability - with toddlers – unknown but probably good unless there is food involved. - with young kids – same as toddlers. - with big kids – good. - with familiar dogs outside the home – unknown. - with new dogs - some good interactions, some not. - with cats – unknown. - with other animals – unknown. Coco will need a 4-5’ fence or so; she paces the fence looking for a way out and if she sees an open door or gate she will take off. Her full name is Coqueta (Hispanic for "one who flirts") but her foster mom has been calling her Coco. She arrived with Blanco on June 10, 2023. They were surrendered from the same household to a California shelter. Coco is possibly a purebred Siberian husky. We're guessing she's about 2.5-3 years old. She was spayed in June. Hi!  My name is Sky!  Im a 1.5 year old Alaskan Malamute.  People say I'm active and a total sweetheart!  I love humans and would do anything to make them have a good time.  I am ok in my crate and can do walk very well with a lead leash.  I am housebroken.  I love to play w toys, but they have to be made for my breed.  (Strong) I have to say NO To Cats.  They are so interesting to me.  I chase them like I do squirrels. Apparently they are not ok w it and keep telling my humans.  So...pls no cats. We have fosters all over the Pacific Northwest allowing us to post in specific cities. Due to Covid 19 restrictions all Meet & Greets have been cancelled to keep everyone safe. Our adoptable pets are in Houston living with local foster families making the transition into your household a whole lot easier.  I've had all my required shots, have a microchip & neutered.  I'm ready to meet you.   Our application review takes about 10 days.  This adoption process will require 3 videos of (outside of your home, backyard, and inside of your home) since we are not able to conduct home checks at this time. We will be calling 2 references (Not related to you please). We will be contacting your veterinarian (We work with 1st time owners) to make sure you have vaccinated all your pets yearly, and that all have been spayed/neutered. Our transport company leaves Houston every 2 weeks for Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Colorado & Canada. We will book your baby as soon as adoption & transport fees have been received.  If you have fallen madly in love and would like to make this baby part of your family, then go to https://www.petstablished.com/organization/920716    ##1613011##

Story
Duke’s an 80lb boy that is a little over half Siberian husky and Great Pyrenees and the rest are a bunch of different breeds. He is playful, super soft & snuggly, gentle giant of a teddy bear with a calm, but active demeanor. Duke loves to give hugs and morning/night kisses, is fairly independent, keeps himself busy outside or at watch near a window — but finds you and gets “chatty” when he’s bored, ready for dinner or play time. He does need at least an hour or two a day of active interaction — a long walk, tossing a ball/toys or a large dog sibling to playing with! He was rescued as he reached his “due out” date from a 6-month stay in an Utah shelter & has gained some much needed weight since. He’s kennel & house trained, knows basic commands like sit, shake, kisses and corrections, is cat & kid tested, gets along with other dogs well including little ones (his large stature may be intimidating at first but he’s respectful & nonreactive). Duke is probably 1 t o 2 years old.

Story
Grüner/Rippy has the most mushy personality you can imagine. If he had a car it would be covered with stickers like “Make love, not war”, “To know me is to love me”, “Give peace a chance”….and maybe “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”. He is soft without being anxious. He is very easy to manage and generally easy to live with and he only keeps getting better as he matures. Grüner/Rippy frequently goes with his foster mom to places that serve food and/or beverages and allow dogs. Grüner/Rippy is great with other dogs. He is respectful and very good when meeting new dogs. At the dog park he was described by someone as the gentlest, calmest husky mix they had met in a long time. He loves to meet up with his buddies for play dates or have another fairly playful dog in the home. Toys are a must for this youngster; he loves having things to carry around and/or chew on. He will play fetch now and again. Grüner/Rippy is surprisingly good at not pulling on leash when out for walks. He has no problem walking on the Greenbelt or other place where he has to pass runners, scooters, other dogs etc. Most of the time he does fine when hiking off leash with his foster family and stays with the pack though he still shows a bit of the husky independence regarding coming when called. He rides well in a car. He has lived with cats just fine. Grüner/Rippy was one of the litter we named The Winos that we took in a little over a year ago. His adopters called him Rip which we have tweaked. Due to unforeseen circumstances the family had to rehome him. They had children and another dog and he was great with them all. He was born June 23, 2022. He has Siberian husky, Alaskan malamute, German shepherd and more according to his siblings’ DNA tests. Grüner/Rippy’s Achilles heel is being home alone though he has done great on his training of this and now does quite well. He would do great for someone working from home as he just lies around. He seems to benefit from having a furry friend when home alone. He is crate trained but gets claustrophobic when locked in it by himself. He does however happily sleep in a crate at night whether it is open or closed. While Rippy is a young dog that needs regular activity he doesn’t need all that much exercise. Story
Hi everyone! It is me Peanut! I have been kicking around here with the Moonsong crew for a few months now and just wanted to reintroduce myself! It is fall now after all, and I would love to find myself a dream family who is ready to share in all their adventures. As you can see, I am a very handsome male husky/malamute mix who is eager to please and just need someone to show me the ropes. I am only about three years old and am your typical bouncy boy who loves to play. I do know basic commands but could really use some consistent training efforts to help challenge my mental abilities and help me excel. I get along with most dogs who are similar in size but do need proper introductions and supervision with those who are little more dominant. Oh, and in case you were wondering, I would do best in a home with a secure yard, a family who is active and of course able to provide me with all the snuggles I deserve. If you are interested in fostering or even better, adopting me please fill out an application or contact my person for more information. I promise I will bring a world of happiness that is beyond your wildest expectation! And remember PEANUT ROCKS! Available to Adopters in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.
