Story
Meet Togo — a quiet little shadow with a soft heart and a story still unfolding. At 2 years old and about 33.5 pounds, Togo is another “mini Husky” who carries all the beauty and spirit of the breed in a smaller, more delicate frame. But unlike the bold, boisterous stereotype, Togo is a gentle observer — the kind of dog who watches the world from a safe distance before deciding it’s worth stepping into. Togo is very shy and still learning that people can be kind and safe. He won’t rush up to greet you — instead, he might sneak in for a quick sniff or a soft little kiss when you’re not looking, like a tiny whisper of trust. Sit quietly with him, give him space, and you’ll start to see his walls slowly come down. Every small moment with Togo feels earned, and that’s what makes it so special. He’s looking for a patient, understanding home that will let him move at his own pace. Togo will need time, consistency, and a calm environment where he can continue to build confidence. Because of his sensitive nature, he would do best in an adult-only home or with older, respectful teenagers who understand that trust isn’t instant — it’s something you grow, one gentle moment at a time. A securely fenced yard is a must for this little explorer-in-training. Like any Husky, Togo has that quiet curiosity about the world, and he’ll need a safe space to stretch his legs and take it all in without feeling overwhelmed. He is heartworm positive and has started treatment. Wish Bone will continue his treatment whether it's through our vet or providing medication to the adopter's vet to administer. Togo may not be the dog who greets you at the door right away — but he’s the one who will quietly choose you, inch by inch, until one day you realize he’s right beside you, trusting you completely. And that kind of bond? It’s the rare, heart-stealing kind that makes every bit of patience worth it.  His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $12 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Balto is a 2-year old Husky mix who weighs just 32 pounds. It's like someone hit “shrink” on a classic Husky but left all the personality fully intact.  Balto is a thoughtful, observant guy who likes to take in the world before diving in. He is shy when meeting new people and startles with quick movements, but give him a moment and he’ll make the first move — gently stepping in for pets and soaking up the affection once he knows he’s safe. When he chooses you, it feels a little like being let into a secret club. Once settled, his Husky side shines bright. He’s talkative, expressive, and known to sprinkle in some zoomies, happy hops, and enthusiastic stick-collecting sessions. He loves being outside, stretching his legs, and exploring every scent like it’s part of a grand expedition. Balto does best with a calm, confident canine friend. Having another dog around helps him feel confident and keeps his mild separation anxiety in check. He enjoys being part of the pack, even if he’s not always in the center of the action. He thrives in a home where he can both play and take his own space when needed. He’s making progress with house training but may have accidents when he’s unsure or needs to go — he gives subtle signals, so learning his cues will be key. He uses his crate as a safe retreat and does well when given a space of his own, especially at night. Because Balto is still building confidence, he needs a home with a fenced yard. Older kids (10+) could possibly be a good fit, especially kids who understand that trust takes a little time to grow. Balto isn’t the kind of dog who barges into your life — he quietly trots in, looks around, and then decides you’re his person. And once he does, you’ll have a loyal, clever, slightly quirky adventure buddy for life.  His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $12 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
