Story
Meet Russell… the shelter’s most confused supermodel. Russell would like to file a formal complaint with management. He has the handsome face. He put on the royal blue bandana. He perfected the “thoughtful model pose.” And yet… somehow… he’s still waiting. Russell truly cannot understand it. Because if you ask him, he’s clearly leading-man material. This striking Husky mix has those icy blue eyes that stop people mid-scroll, a gorgeous coat, and a personality that balances playful and sweet. He’s the kind of dog who looks like he belongs in an outdoor gear commercial… or curled up on your couch supervising movie night. Russell’s Highlights • Handsome Husky mix with striking blue eyes • Friendly and social • Gets along with other dogs • Cats: unsure • Keeps his kennel clean (a great sign for house training!) • Loves attention and being near his people Russell has been patiently watching other dogs head off to their new homes and quietly wondering when it will finally be his turn. He doesn’t need perfection. He just needs someone to see him and decide he’s the one. And honestly… with that face? We’re still shocked no one has scooped him up yet.

Story
Husky lovers… we’ve got one that will steal the whole show. Meet Bernice — aka Bernie — and yes… she knows she’s stunning. Those ice-blue eyes don’t just look at you… they evaluate you. That little smirk? It says she already has a plan. And that Husky personality? Fully charged and ready for action. Bernie is one year old and everything people love (and respect) about the breed: smart, expressive, athletic, and just the right amount of dramatic. She bonds deeply with her people — the kind of dog who doesn’t just live in your home… she becomes part of your daily rhythm. Your sidekick. Your shadow. Your “what are we doing next?” partner. Bernie at a Glance • 1 year old Husky • Sweet and affectionate with her people • Highly intelligent and alert • Thrives with structure and engagement What Bernie Needs • Secure fenced-in yard (non-negotiable for this explorer) • No small dogs • No cats • No small children • Experienced owner who understands the Husky mindset Bernie isn’t a “set it and forget it” kind of dog. She’s a “let’s go, let’s think, let’s LIVE” kind of dog. If you love Huskies for their bold personalities, their brains, and their big energy — she is exactly what you’ve been looking for. And once she chooses you… you’ll know.

Story
Chicago is a beautiful husky with a curious spirit and a personality all her own. She enjoys exploring her surroundings, keeping an eye on what’s going on, and doing things on her terms. While she’s affectionate with the people she trusts, she’s more independent than clingy and is perfectly happy spending time by herself. She loves to “talk” and isn’t shy about sharing her opinions. Whether she’s greeting you, commenting on the day’s events, or letting you know she disagrees with a decision, she always has something to say.Unlike some dogs that constantly seek attention, Chicago is a bit of an introvert. She enjoys companionship but doesn’t need to be the center of attention. She would do well with someone who appreciates the intelligent, independent nature that makes huskies such unique companions.Rehoming her is a difficult decision, and our goal is to find her a loving home where she can continue to be herself and enjoy the life she deserves.

Story
Kane and Audrey were part of a litter of seven 6-week old puppies brought into an overburdened rural shelter. Their mother had been found nearby, struck by a car — leaving her babies orphaned, emaciated, and so cold they were barely hanging on. Despite the shelter’s best efforts, all the puppies except Kane and Audrey passed away. These puppies are fighters. They’ve bounced back from fleas and worms of all kinds, as well as sarcoptic mange, and are ready to start their new lives. A DNA test found that Kane and Adurey are mostly Australian shepherd and husky mixes. They are both very sweet and smart and love playing, running, and having fun with toys. Kane is a little more timid than his sister. He’s snuggly and just wants to crawl up inside you because the world is a little frightening. Audrey is braver and more outgoing. She crushes on every boy dog she meets and just wants to be close to them. The pups are each looking for a new home. (They will not be adopted together.) They are being fostered in the St. Louis area. To apply: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##2689461##
