Story
I AM SPONSORED! Thank you Spice, Koal and Zee for sponsoring me! Phoenix is a 2 - 3 yr old male Husky. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced in yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for snuggles and kisses. Phoenix does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and shake. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is intensely interested in cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.

She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles and kisses. Hera does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she will be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated, but does not yet know any commands. She has a dominant personality, but mixes well with other dogs in a kennel. We would require the potential adopter to conduct a meet-and-greet with any dogs they have at home before the adoption process can be completed to ensure that they are compatible. Hera is not a fan of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Drake is a 7 - 9 month old male Husky mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He can be a little shy at first, but don't let that fool you, this social butterfly warms up quickly to new people. He likes to sit by his person for snuggles and kisses. Drake does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Story
Meet Wolfie, she was a scared and extremely skittish female that was found roaming in our area earlier this year. After a month of work we were able to catch her and upon closer inspection took note of her large size and clear wolfish features (she is larger than a husky). After DNA testing, it was confirmed that she is 23% Grey Wolf!! Her other side is majority of Alaskan Malamute which also have a close tie to wolves. Our staff have spent these past months working on socialization and training and we are proud to announce that we are officially accepting applications for her! Due to her unique breed and characteristics, this is NOT a first come first serve. Applicants will be reviewed and MULTIPLE meet and greets will be required before her leaving as foster-to-adopt will be strongly encouraged. Wolfie is needing a home with NO OTHER ANIMALS. Wolfie is already spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested and up to date on vaccinations!
