Story
Meet Barbie, a delightful Husky mix with a personality as unique as her breed. She's the epitome of gentleness and carries a mellow aura that can soothe any soul. Barbie's sweet demeanor is a balm to everyone she encounters, making her a beloved resident at the shelter. She's also quite the comedian, her funny antics are sure to brighten your day. But it's her cuddly nature that truly sets her apart. She's a friend you can lean on, a companion in the quiet moments. Adopt Barbie and bring home not just a pet, but a loving friend who will fill your life with joy, laughter, and love. Barbie is a 2 - 3 yr old female Husky mix. She has a medium energy level, so she should fit well into most homes provided she receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. She does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated, but does not yet know any commands. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is not a fan of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.

Story
Karma is a 2 - 3yr old female Husky. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active home with a fenced in yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called, but likes to explore when not being interacted with. She also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Karma does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated and knows the command sit. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home.
