Story
Meet Elsa ❄️ – A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Forever Home Elsa is a beautiful 3-year-old husky mix with soft, soulful eyes and a heart full of love. She may be a bit shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet and playful personality shines through. Elsa thrives in a calm and patient home. She loves gentle affection, soft voices, and relaxing walks. She’s crate-trained, making great progress on leash walking and basic commands like sit. Potty training is still a work in progress, so she’ll benefit from a predictable routine and continued support. She would do best in a home with adults or older children who understand her need for a slow, gentle introduction to new things. A calm, confident dog friend could help her continue building trust and confidence. If you believe in love built on trust and patience, Elsa might be the perfect match. With a little time and a lot of love, this shy girl will melt into your heart—and stay there forever. 💙 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.

Story
Maya is a senior Husky Golden Retriever mix with the kindest heart and the sweetest soul. She is truly one of those dogs that everyone falls in love with the moment they meet her. Maya is gentle, patient, and incredibly kind with everyone she encounters. She has a little bit of that classic Husky confidence, what some might lovingly call a superiority complex, but it only adds to her charm. Maya gets along with everyone and welcomes attention from anyone she meets. She is a snuggler who loves hugs, but she is also very good at communicating when she wants her own space. She is independent, calm, and not clingy or demanding. Maya is blind, and at 12 years old she does need some assistance at times. That said, she adapts beautifully. She quickly memorizes her surroundings, learns the layout of a room, and confidently does her own thing much of the time. She would do best in a home willing to offer a little extra patience and guidance, and in return she gives endless love and trust. She loves walks and absolutely adores the snow. Cold weather makes her light up, and she enjoys exploring the world at her own pace. Maya is friendly with everyone she meets and has a calm, steady presence that makes her a wonderful companion. Maya is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years feeling safe, cherished, and understood. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet Konan! Konan is approximately 4 1/2 years old and is a Husky mix. Unfortunately, Konan was removed from a home after being kept in unlivable conditions and not able to be outside for activity. Because of this, we're hoping to find him a family who can show him just how wonderful life can be! He was kept in a crate that was far too small for him, forcing him to live lying down or stand crouched over. He had parasites and G.I. bacteria, so he was treated immediately upon coming to us so that he could start to feel better. None of this mistreatment or neglect has stopped Konan from LOVING people. He's an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. One of his favorite things is belly rubs & he's very affectionate. Konan is great at keeping his kennel clean, so we think he'll pick up on the new potty training schedule with consistency and patience. He's playful and will entertain himself with a tennis ball and pile of snow with no complaints. He loves toys, interacting with people, and should do well around dogs given a proper introduction & supervision. (he is not recommended to live with cats due to his prey drive) Konan has a nice moderate energy level, meaning he'd be ideal for someone who wants to be outside to exercise every day, but on a nice day he'd likely love to hang outside in the backyard or snuggle with you on the couch. As most folks with a history of Husky ownership know, it's important that Konan has safe containment anytime he's outside. This breed is famous for being adventurous and clever, so a leash, tie-out or fence is best to keep him safe. One thing to note: Konan has a severe over-bite. While it's one of the cutest things you'll ever see, it's also causing his bottom canines to make contact with the roof of his mouth. We've been working with a vet on our plan for some dental work to ensure Konan has a pain-free mouth for the rest of his life. This will be done prior to his adoption. (and the adorable over-bite will still exist!) Konan has been through so much in his life so far, and we cannot wait to find him someone who loves how goofy and loving this breed can be. If you'd like to meet Konan, we are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html Konan is neutered & fully vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200

Story
Meet Zucchini! She is approximately 10-12 months old and is a mixed breed. She has physical traits similar to a Husky, Pit Bull Terrier or Bull Terrier, but without a DNA test we don't know for sure what she is, other than Pure Bred CUTE! Zucchini was found curled up on someone's patio way out in the country, and it's unknown if she was lost and just found a safe spot to rest, or if she was abandoned there and found safety near a household. Either way, we promised her that she would not have to experience that again! Zucchini was a little bit bashful at first, but it took her no time at all to warm up and feel comfortable around us. She's so good in her kennel and just curls up in her dog bed until it's her turn to come out. She keeps her kennel clean, so she seems to be potty trained but a refresher course may be needed so she can learn the new schedule in a home. Since she kennels nicely, we feel that utilizing a crate can also help her with the transition and give her a safe space to call her own. Zucchini has a nice moderate energy level so far - we think she'd make a great companion for daily walking, hiking & exploring, but we can also see her curled up with you on the couch for a movie night! We don't know what her history was with other pets or children, so we're learning as we go with her, but she has a sweet temperament and would likely do well as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. We will update her bio on this topic as we learn more. We also think she'd do just fine as an only pet and would not necessarily need any play mates. Zucchini is a nice 37 lbs and ready to find a new family! If you'd like that to be you, please follow the link below. We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved: https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html Zucchini will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $200.
