Story
Hi, I'm Jaycee! I'm a 2-year-old female husky/shepherd mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, spayed, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Shy, Curious, Loyal Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am the sweetest and calmest girl you'll ever meet! I don't require a whole lot to make me happy, I just want to be with my humans. I would love an owner that works from home so I can be with them all the time! I was very shy when I first came to CRHS, but I've made tons of progress. With that being said I would still appreciate someone to help me come out of my shell a little more! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 5/10 Housetraining Status: I have been very good at keeping my kennel clean, but it may take me some time to adjust to the schedule in my new home. I should do well in a home: Due to my shy nature any children in my potential home will need to be 8 years or older. I should do fine with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I would do with cats. My favorite activities are: My favorite thing in the world is being with my human! Things I need work on are: Confidence building and basic commands Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Meet Cassie! Cassie is a Husky mix puppy who was born in the beginning of January and is ready to find a forever home! Cassie is a happy, spunky, brave & outgoing little girl who will make a great adventure buddy for someone! If you haven't owned a husky before, we recommend researching the breed before moving forward, as they have tendencies that are important to be prepared for. This includes being highly driven, highly intelligent, active and they tend to be great escape artists. Because of Cassie's young age, her adopters should be ready for all things puppy. This includes potty training, leash training, biting phases, chewing phases, positive socialization, and much more. She is too young to be spayed at this time, so her adopters will need to provide proof of a pre-paid appointment at their vet for when Cassie is old enough for it. So far, Cassie has done well meeting other pets and would likely love a play mate! She has done well around children, but still uses her sharp teeth a lot, so her adult owners should supervise her around young children - puppies Cassie's age tend to see small kids/toddlers as their equals, and will use their mouth during interactions. This confident little bugger would likely love an owner who is active & outdoorsy! Huskies love to be out in the world exploring, often no matter what the weather is! If you're an all-terrain kind of person who wants a companion, Cassie would love to join you! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html Cassie has started her vaccines and can have a rabies vaccines by the time she is 12 weeks old. Her adoption fee is $240.

Story
Meet Konan! Konan is approximately 4 1/2 years old and is a Husky mix. Unfortunately, Konan was removed from a home after being kept in unlivable conditions and not able to be outside for activity. Because of this, we're hoping to find him a family who can show him just how wonderful life can be! He was kept in a crate that was far too small for him, forcing him to live lying down or stand crouched over. He had parasites and G.I. bacteria, so he was treated immediately upon coming to us so that he could start to feel better. None of this mistreatment or neglect has stopped Konan from LOVING people. He's an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. One of his favorite things is belly rubs & he's very affectionate. Konan is great at keeping his kennel clean, so we think he'll pick up on the new potty training schedule with consistency and patience. He's playful and will entertain himself with a tennis ball and pile of snow with no complaints. He loves toys, interacting with people, and should do well around big dogs given a proper introduction & supervision (he may prefer female dogs, but that is not necessarily set in stone). He is not recommended to live with cats or small dogs due to his prey drive. Konan has a nice moderate energy level, meaning he'd be ideal for someone who wants to be outside to exercise every day, but on a nice day he'd likely love to hang outside in the backyard or snuggle with you on the couch. As most folks with a history of Husky ownership know, it's important that Konan has safe containment anytime he's outside. This breed is famous for being adventurous and clever, so a leash, tie-out or fence is best to keep him safe. One thing to note: Konan has a severe over-bite. While it's one of the cutest things you'll ever see, it's also causing his bottom canines to make contact with the roof of his mouth. We've been working with a vet on our plan for some dental work to ensure Konan has a pain-free mouth for the rest of his life. This will be done prior to his adoption. (and the adorable over-bite will still exist!) Konan has been through so much in his life so far, and we cannot wait to find him someone who loves how goofy and loving this breed can be. If you'd like to meet Konan, we are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html Konan is neutered & fully vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200

Story
My name is Hollywood Rose. I came to the shelter with my daughter, Melrose Ruby. We came off the Amish puppy mill farm. She has been adopted and I am still working on socializing, but have come a long way. A fenced in yard is required as I am a big flight risk . I am rather shy and would need several meet and greets to feel more comfortable. I love long walks with my special shelter person and have a few volunteers that are super cool and fun to be with! I haven't been the most fond of meeting other dogs thus far.

Story
Peanut 🐶 Peanut is a 6-month-old Husky / Carolina Dog mix with a playful personality and a big sense of adventure. Like many pups from these breeds, he’s curious, smart, and always ready to explore the world around him. Peanut loves to run, play with toys, sniff around outside, and follow his people from room to room. He’s a fun, happy pup who enjoys being part of whatever is going on. He’s still a young puppy and working on potty training, but he’s making great progress every day. Peanut is already doing great with kennel training and sleeps peacefully in his kennel all night. Peanut does well with other dogs and loves having playmates. He hasn’t had any experience with cats yet. He should do fine with children, but like many puppies his age he can be a little mouthy while playing, so continued training and supervision will help him learn good manners. With guidance, love, and plenty of playtime, Peanut is going to grow into an amazing, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a playful pup to join your adventures, Peanut might be the perfect match. 🐾 📍Being fostered in Onalaska, WI 🏁My adoption fee is $350 and you can see more about the rescue at https://lastpawrescue.org.
