I was picked up as a stray by a local shelter when I was just a baby. Everyone told me I was super cute and my family would come looking for me but they never came and nobody adopted me. After 3 months of living in the shelter the staff was out of space and needed to make room and 'my time was up' luckily a staff member bought me some time and started reaching out to rescues explaining I was just a baby and needed some work on resource guarding (I held onto everything I got just in case I wouldn't get anything again). The lady from Almost Home said yes and that's when the fun began. I got to the rescue and they started introducing me to kids, dogs, cats, and toys. I had to learn to share and I learned how much fun toys with others are and that there are always treats and toys and kids are fun and so are small puppies. I love everything! I even love water- I swim in the horses tanks all the time because a beautiful girl like me loves to stay cool and keep my coat clean. Everyone says I am such an amazing girl and so pretty but nobody has given me a chance yet- rescue lady says one day my perfect family for me will show up and I will be spoiled. I would love to meet you though if you are a man we will need a woman or child as a buffer as men can be scary to me. But I do love everyone I just get shy rescue lady thinks maybe a man was mean to me at some point when I was a baby but I do try and I loved the worker men at the shelter when I was there. I just need some time to understand they won't hurt me. I'm not mean I just run away from men. But women and children I am a true lap dog in every sense of the word. I love hugs and kisses from them and will try to make myself small so I can cuddle in their laps.  Please scroll down for the boring information about me the rescue lady said people might want to know. Please be aware birthday and breeds listed are our best guesses based on looks - we seldom know this information unless they come in with registration papers. Approximate DOB 2/1/2023 Approximate Adult Size - Medium maybe 40 lbs or so once full grown  History- This young girl ended up at a local shelter early July and lived there until transferred to us in September.  It appears staff and volunteers spent a lot of time with her however, she was labeled as special no kids under 12 and a meet and greet as she was possibly aggressive with other animals. This is could be part of the reason she was never adopted. Anyhow, we went to meet her and she was lovely and was transferred to our program. She has been here about a month and is just a fantastic girl!!!She is gentle with small children, scared of cats, a little possessive of food and toys but is learning to share and is just such a little lovebug who loves to lay on your lap and gives the best hugs. Temperament- Super sweet, very smart, loves attention, and tries really hard to do what is expected of her. She is hesitant with new experiences but with some coaxing is learning to trust that we won't put her in harms way. She was very fearful of going into new places however she is now coming in the house on her own and slowly starting to explore but will still hide behind me when she gets scared- like when the cats come into where she is for instance or when we turn on the fan. Everything is new to her but she is taking it in stride and doing amazing. **Willow may have had a bad experience with a man at some point as she is scared of men when a woman isn't around.  Energy Level- She is higher energy than some dogs but not nutty high energy she just gets the zoomies and enjoys exploring the yard and running and playing like any puppy does. She would do best with an active family. A mid size active dog would also be good for her to play with however if the dog is to rambunctious and too high energy she will hide to get away.    Dogs/Cats- Scared of cats but slowly trying to figure them out from behind me. She currently spends a lot of her time with a mellow adult German Shepherd, Lilly another husky in our program, and Tug a Chihuahua in our program and she does great with all of them. She is very respectful and learning to be a dog with other dogs.  Housetrained- She is using a dog door and not having any accidents.  Vegas is an absolute doll. She absolutely loves, loves, loves attention and seeks her person for comfort. She is awesome with kids - my grandkids love playing with her as she is very gentle and doesn't knock anyone down. She would just be an amazing dog for any home. She does bristle and get very intense when meeting new dogs but won't actually do anything - I think it is more due to fear of not knowing if they are going to attack her or not but she is very playful and once she knows they are not going to try and kill her she starts playing. She has met quite a few dogs since coming in and has done great with all of them. She has also met lots of people and just loves everyone. Though we did find out recently that she would do best in a home with women and children and/or a very patient man that can spend a lot of time gaining her trust through a woman.  I know huskies have a bad rap about being loud and being escape artists - she is a very quiet husky and she has never tried to leave the property but as with most dogs if a gate is left open she will run off to play as she has never been trained to not leave a fence when given the opportunity. If I have to run inside real quick for something and forget to leave the door open or if I close it she will wait for me on the front porch until I come back out. She is just an amazing dog who would do great in an active home or home with children. She would excel in a family who won't mind introducing a young girl to new experiences in life. Since she lived in a shelter half her life she really hasn't had the experiences most dogs her age have had. She takes them well and tries her best but she would surely benefit from someone who can take her on new adventures to learn what being a loved dog is truly about. She isn't bad with new experiences - she just hesitates and you can see she is unsure of the situation for instance her introduction to the cats was so cute I had to put it on Facebook https://fb.watch/nYNqGiVf9g/ Adoption fee $250 includes spay, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies, collar and leash, training information, and all the support you need. I am a beautiful sweet girl who would just love my very own family to love. I am a little shy and submissive but absolutely love love and attention. I was purchased from an individual who had adopted a dog from Almost Home NM and then when the family realized puppies need attention and training they returned Marshall and asked the rescue if they could take me in as well. Of course since Marshall is my big brother the rescue lady said yes. So here I am looking for my own happily ever after. I don't know what toys are really yet so rescue lady is trying to teach me that toys are fun she said I am young and will figure it out soon so we will see.    Please be aware birthday and breeds listed are our best guesses based on looks and temperament Estimated DOB 1/1/2024 Size – We believe she will hit be about 50-60 lbs full grown  History- This little girl was purchased to be a playmate for another puppy and then surrendered when the family realized how much attention and training puppies take.  Temperament- Super sweet, very submissive, loves attention, and tries really hard to be a good girl. Energy Level- She is pretty mellow and quiet right now but we will see if that changes as she gets more comfortable.  Dogs/Cats- Super submissive with Marshall but we will introduce her to some of the other dogs and puppies here to see how she does. We will also be introducing her to the cats soon. Kids/People- Good with everyone she has met. Has met small children from 2-10 years old and is very gentle with them.   Commands/Obedience Level- So far she doesn't seem to know much. I really don't think they spent much time with her.  Housetrained/Crate Trained- She is using a dog door with no accidents. She is also crate trained. Adoption fee $300 includes spay, rabies, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip,  collar and leash, and all the support you need. Approximate DOB 9/21/2023 Approximate Adult Size - Medium maybe 50 lbs or so once full grown  History- Update 6/4/2024 - Marshall has been returned through no fault of his own. He is such a wonderful, sweet loving boy!!! He came back with another dog (white female husky puppy) the family had got who we have named Mochi. 11/5/2023 -Taken in as strays with their mom when they were 2 days old. Mom is Zuma and the babies include Skye, Everest, Rocky, Rubble, Marshall, and Chase. The shelter was concerned the babies would get sick if they stayed there so requested transfer out. When they were 3 weeks old we made space here at the rescue for them and they have been here ever since. They have had a straight parvo vaccine and 2 5-way puppy shots as well and spent the last 4 weeks in quarantine. They are very healthy, happy and sweet- very social babies already using the dog door to go out to do their business.    Temperament- Super sweet, very smart, and loves attention. As a baby I would have to hold him to g to sleep. He still loves, loves, loves attention and stays right by me whenever we are outside. He is just such an amazingly sweet loyal young dog who just watches his loved one.  Energy Level- These are huskies so please keep in mind that huskies are bred to run. They do need active homes with secure fencing or they may start escaping. These babies would do best in active homes that can take them on long walks, skijoring, skateboarding biking, etc  Dogs/Cats- Loves other dogs but I need to retest him with cats now that he is older.  Housetrained- Crate and house trained as well as uses a dog door perfectly.  Marshall is a wonderful gorgeous red/white boy with green and blue eyes (green with blue patches by the iris). He is very smart and extremely loyal wanting to be next to his loved ones all the time. He is high energy and would make a wonderful addition to any active family preferably with husky experience.  Please remember huskies can be talkative, escape artists, and high energy due to their genetics. An active family or lots of walks and games, a secure fence, an indoor home with air conditioning (they get very hot in the summer), and lots of attention would be in their best interest.   Adoption fee $250 includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies, collar and leash, training information, and all the support you need.
