Story
Fiji is a 2 year old husky mix, incredibly dog, cat, everything friendly. House trained, crate trained and over all a great dog. Still working on stranger danger but he is showing improvement. Honestly, he is a great watch dog and would be great for a single gal that wanted to feel safe exploring ##1562428##

Story
This handsome guy would love to explore the great outdoors with you. At about 5 years old, Kota’s pretty mellow (for a Husky mix!) but still has plenty of energy for hikes and walks. He loves to scratch and sniff in the play yard then circle back to his person for a “good boy!” Kota is a friendly, confident fella who would make a wonderful companion.

Story
This active, friendly Alaskan husky/German shepherd mix could be your perfect walking or running buddy with some TLC and basic training. After he’d had a chance to play fetch in the play yard, he walked well on a leash with staff. He knows “sit” and takes treats gently. King perks up whenever he sees another dog on a walk or in the play yard. Bring yours in for a meet and greet with the spirited, friendly King. He is a loving and active boy! He really enjoys tennis ball fetch, he knows `Come` and `Sit`, and he takes treats gently. He seems friendly toward other friendly dogs and is great on leash!

Story
Sweet Serena is a somewhat shy, mellow and, shall we say, `serene` Husky. She comes with a beautiful shining coat and the most striking eyes: one brown, one green. In the play yard, she will explore independently first, then come to you for neck scratches and, quite possibly, a belly rub. She seeks a family that can give her the love, affection and attention to boost her confidence just a bit. She is sure to blossom into a lovely lifetime companion.

Story
Grenda is a spirited young gal with a beautiful white and tan coat and striking blue eyes. She enjoys chasing balls and saying hello to other dogs with a sniff through the fence and a tail wag. She even has a playmate at the shelter, so she’s very open to a meet and greet with your dog. With basic training and patience and guidance from you, Grenda would likely learn to walk well on leash. Because of her energy level, this gal would do best with a family with older kiddos ages 12 and up. If you’re looking for a friendly adolescent up for adventures and eager to grow up in your family, come meet Grenda!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Misty/Snowflake Snowflake came to SHRNM after she was abandoned by her family of 4 years.  She was kept outside most of her life, even during the birth of at least one litter.  Over the years, people donated a dog house and a 10 by 10 foot chain link kennel to get her off the chain that was her life.  Snowflake’s family moved to another state, leaving her in the outdoor kennel.  For several months, she was feed by a neighbor and left with dirty water and a filthy kennel. The neighbor was afraid of her and would only throw food into her space.  It was this neighbor that eventually found help for Snowflake, after 3 full months of living in bad conditions and no real contact with people.  Our rescue was called and she became a member of SHRNM.  Snowflake was friendly with people, not good with other dogs. She was loving and submissive.  It took some time to for Snowflake to find a home and it was a young man with another dog.  He lived with and cared for his grandparents in the Albuquerque area.  He took great care of Snowflake and renamed her Misty. She slept in his bed, played with his male dog, learned to be a good family member.  After 8 months, the grandparents decided that they no longer wanted Misty in there home.  She was too bouncy and too much husky for the grandmother.  Since the young man is the care giver for his grandparents, he was forced to return her to SHRNM.  Misty is a wonderful husky, she is housetrained, friendly (with a joyful bounce), good on leash and ready to live the good life again.  Misty is looking for a True Forever Home with a 5-6 foot fence, attentive owners, daily walks and lots of love. For more information on Misty, complete the online application and contact Shirley at 575-491-9577Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 2:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt My name is Balto and I heard that I was named after another famous husky that helped people up in the north a long time ago. I am a bit reserved but once you get to know me, I will also be your best friend. I’m a smaller husky. I love exploring on a hike, going for walks, and even just heading out to the dog park for a fun trip to meet other dogs.  I get along with everyone and I do have a very playful side, so wrestling with my dog friends may be in the cards!  Sometimes my dad says he finds me upside down relaxing and napping. I do love life and would love to meet you if feel like I would add to your life as well!  Fill out an application and let's meet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Hi – I’m Bennie! My foster dad describes me as a great doggie that loves humans and just has to be with him for walks and outings! I am an active husky and willing to listen and learn new things. I have a grin that fits my personality! I love the girl doggies, but am more selective about my male dog friends, so I would love a home as either a single loving guy, or perhaps a calm doggy female that can help me become my best self!   My foster dad says he is willing to have our fabulous trainer help with some training for me so I can learn how my humans become great “Bennie” owners! If you would love to meet me, please contact my foster dad, Steve, at 505-264-2514 TODAY!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 2:11 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
George loves people dearly and especially kids. When he meets someone, he is exuberant, running and licking frantically, until he settles into some snuggles. He will show you how excited he is by wagging his little nub of a tail uncontrollably. George was in a playgroup with other dogs at the shelter, so he is great with dogs but needs some space every now and then too. We think he would be great in a house with kids and 1-2 other dogs, and he is fully potty trained. George comes from a long background of trauma, so we are excited for him to meet you and settle in to some love. ##1549722##

Story
Senior dogs are such a joy! They`re mature and calm and really appreciate being given a loving home. Bear is a sweet old boy who’s friendly, walks nicely on leash, and takes treats gently. His grey muzzle shows he’s lived a long and eventful life. He’d love nothing better than curling up at your feet for a nice pat and snooze. Because of his age and size, Bear would do best in families with kids ages 10 and up. Bear shows interest in other dogs and would love to meet yours to see if they can be pals. Bear is neutered and once he gets his vaccines, he can go home with you to bring joy, humor, and love to your family.
