Story
In foster care since: June 13, 2024 Good with: dogs, children, tentative with cats Fostered in London, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Violet! A gorgeous blue eyed husky mix who came to us from Save A Dog Network Canada in Northern Manitoba with her sisters (who are with another rescue). Her looks alone could melt your heart and make you fall in love, but her personality will be what really pulls you in! Violet is a bundle of energy who will make a perfect companion for any adventure, even if it’s just a walk around the block. She has been practicing her leash training with her foster mom and is excelling. Violet is already mastering basic commands such as sit, especially when it’s time to eat. When it comes to mealtime, she prefers to have her food all to herself, and if her furry friends try to sneak a bite, she will let them know. She is making great strides with her potty training and with consistency and a patient family, she will be a pro in no time! Violet thrives around her furry foster siblings. Regardless of their size, she makes friends with everyone! She has shown some interest in chasing cats when she seems them outdoors, but since she is still a puppy, she can likely learn to live with a cat. Violet’s favourite pastime is playing with her doggy friends, playing soccer with her foster mom in the backyard, and chewing on her chew toys - especially a tasty bone! Violet absolutely loves the people who care for her, and she will quickly become a little shadow that likes to be by your side all the time. She is starting to run with her foster mom on her workouts and really enjoying herself, so she would make a great companion for an active lifestyle. She would love somebody who she can snuggle up with at night after a day of play and exercise. Crate time isn’t Violet’s favourite, but with some positive crate training, she will be able to nestle in and feel safe in her crate soon. Violet is a bundle of both energy and affection. She is a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will add joy and happiness into the lives of the family she joins. She has traveled to Ontario for her chance to find her people and live a full and amazing life. She has touched many hearts at BSDRO in her short time with us, but she is ready to connect with the people she is going to spend the rest of her life with. Violet is spayed, dewormed, up to date on relevant vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Story
Winter ~1.5 year old male In foster care since: May 24th, 2024 Fostered in Dutton, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Winter! Now one of our longest term residents, in foster care now for over 200 days. Winter is a young husky mix that will need a home that is understanding and willing to continue with his at home training. Winter is a high energy dog seeking a high energy home. He would be a wonderful partner for an active person who is searching for a loyal dog. He would make an absolutely fantastic walking or running companion. We rescued Winter from a shelter days before it was too late. Winter was excessive when we brought him in. It was evident that he had been given no boundaries as a puppy and probably had minimal training. Winter entered a board and train program shortly after his arrival. Training helped him so much and he was eager to learn. (BONUS: Winter’s adoption fee includes a 1-on-1 training session at Doggy Discovery Zone for his new family to learn how to best help Winter continue to be successful!) Winter is a very smart boy. He will excel with someone that is committed to continuing work on his training. He has a great foundation, but will need some finessing to make him the perfect dog. He still has his days of destruction and will need to have someone that can give him rules and a routine. He is known to counter surf, so his home will need to understand that while he is learning his new routine, things will need to be kept out of the way. He gets along with dogs, cats & children, having been fostered in a home with all of them. Winter loves to play with the daycare children who come through his home. He is still young and likes to play like a husky, so smaller dogs might not be his best friend. Because of his activity levels, we’d suggest a home with older or dog-savvy children only, as he may knock infants and toddlers over in his excitement. Winter is house trained and crate trained. He goes into his crate every night at the end of the day. He will also go in on his own occasionally during the day when he needs a break. At night and when you are out of the house or can’t keep your eye on Winter, he will need to be crated because he still wants to get up to mischief. He likes to chew and use his brain, so enjoys having a bone or playing with interactive toys. Give Winter a puzzle treat mat or a kong and watch his brain work out how to get his prize! Winter has a lot of love to give to the right person. He loves to curl up on the couch with his people or his doggy foster siblings whenever he gets the chance. He’s known around here as being just a little bit quirky, and we just know the right person is out there looking for a dog just like him. Winter is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. If you believe you can give Winter the home he so deserves, apply to adopt

MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue https://www.taffyslegacy.com/berlin First Impressions: Dogs: Good with dogs, happy to engage and LOVES to play with dogs he meets. Does like to be pushy and take/share dog beds and toys. Does listen to other dog's corrections. Cats: Loves cats, is gentle and gets along with feline friends Kids: Grew up around a toddler and baby, he loved his human sisters and was very gentle with them Strangers: He will growl very quietly, or bark, at people in his home that he does not know. He does not like being pet, or being starred at by people he is not familiar with, and it is best he is advocated for in these situations. He is currently learning, "Quiet" and continued training is being put into his socialization skills. When meeting people outside, he can be timid and prefers not to be pet, but does not growl or bark at them. If they own a dog, he is less apprehensive to engage with them and may allow them to pet him, and may even give them kisses on their hand before moving away from them. It only takes a few times meeting a stranger outdoors to be fully comfortable and confident around them, whereas indoors, it can take multiple meetings before he is accepting of them being in his space. Crate Skills: Crate trained. He is always a happy pup to snuggle up and take a nice snooze when there is a blanket in his crate. He does take a few days to settle into new environments and will lightly cry to get attention, but settles in time. Leash skills: Great leash skills. He is walked on a transitional leash as he can be skittish of cars, or people running by. He walks nicely in a loose leash walk most of the time, although he can surprise you with random puppy zoomies! Energy Level: Berlin is currently a low energy pup, he only needs an hour of walking per day. In his current foster home he gets more than required, as he gets to spend about an hour playing in the backyard with his canine companions in the morning (weather permitted), and also gets time to play tug in the evenings with his humans. He loves to play and is never discouraged as we want him to live his best life! Confidence: Berlin is an anxious dog and would do best in a home devoted to building his confidence. He is very smart, and very food motivated, which will make training him fun for all parties! Affection: Berlin is not the kind of dog that demands affection from his people, however he is still very much a love bug and soaks up all of the affection his family is willing to provide him. He would prefer to be able to follow his people around to see what they are getting up to but will wander off to lay in other areas of the house for periods of time. Training: Berlin is always eager to train when kibble is involved. He is very keen and understands his cues well, always ready to learn new things for rewards. He knows lots of commands already, and is very keen to learning more Behavioural: Berlin is overexcited by food and will whine, cry and have mini bouncing tantrums when food is being prepared for his breakfast and dinner, or if any of the other resident dogs are being fed. Although a good food drive makes training much easier, we are working to lessen the excitement around food and reduce demand crying for food. Berlin has a condition called pulmonic dysplasia which is causing stenosis which means he is at risk for arrhythmias, symptoms (such as syncope/fainting), and sudden death. Berlin had a successful balloon valvuloplasty surgery on November 22nd/23. This has significantly increased his quality and length of life. At this time, the Cardiac specialists will be completing a follow up echocardiogram in February. The results will provide us with information on Berlin's current heart health post surgery, and next steps for his on-going health care. At this time, it is anticipated he will require an additional follow up echocardiogram 6-12 months after his February follow up, with potential of annual follows ups thereafter. He is currently on one heart medication, Sotalol, which he may or may not be on long-term depending on his echo results. For 2 months worth of Sotalol pills it is $24 at your local pharmacy, which is currently given every 12 hours (2xday). We are still learning about Berlin, and will update his profile more once she settles into her new foster home. ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

Story
For Adoption: Nadja! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Nadja is a 4-month-old Husky-Collie mix weighing about 20 pounds. She is still a puppy and will grow into her frame as she matures. Her coat is a beautiful blend of brown and black, with classic husky markings, a stripe of black down her back and a charming little black spot on her tail. Nadja’s oversized, floppy ears are adorable soft and awkward right now, but she will grow into them along with the rest of her puppy quirks. Her name, inspired by the show What We Do in the Shadows, suits her mischievous puppy antics, especially her playful nipping—a typical trait for a teething pup. Nadja’s journey began in northern Manitoba before Save a Dog Network Canada and Pound Dog Rescue stepped in to change her life. Now thriving in a loving foster home, she’s blossomed into a smart, energetic, and affectionate puppy who is ready to find her forever family. Nadja is quick to learn and adapt. She settled into her foster home within a few days and loves her daily routine. True to her husky nature, she’s energetic, playful, and always on the hunt for her next favourite toy. Her love for toys turns the living room into a puppy playground! She shares her foster home with two older dogs, whom she adores, though she’s still learning when to give them space. She also lives with a dog-savvy cat, but she occasionally needs reminders that the cat prefers quiet over playtime. Nadja would thrive in an active household, ideally with another playful dog or as the center of attention. She’d do well with children aged 8 and up who can participate in her training and exercise. A fully fenced yard would be ideal for her zoomies and daily energy bursts. She would require a detached home as typical to her breed she can be vocal at times. Nadja is highly food-motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement. She knows basic commands like “sit” and happily goes into her crate for naps when asked (especially if treats are involved). She can be a bit of a husky drama queen at times—her crate theatrics are entertaining but short-lived. She is crate trained and uses her crate when we arent at home and at night. As a puppy she requires a home where someone can let her out throughout the day, a full workday away wont suit a puppies need for a potty break midday. Anyone who is work from home, opposite shifts, early retirement, or able to come home on the lunch hour would be suitable. Nadja loves using her brain and would excel in training classes. She’s already making progress with leash manners but still pulls occasionally, especially when she spots a squirrel. With consistent training and patience, she’ll improve even more. While Nadja is confident and friendly with people and dogs, car rides are a work in progress. She tends to get car sick, so we avoid feeding her close to travel times and uses a crate during rides to keep her comfortable. Then with bath time, she’s not a fan of them just yet, but we are working on making the experience more positive for her. Nadja is fully house-trained and quickly learned to signal when she needs to go outside. She’s a kitchen companion too—often found sitting at my feet while meals are being prepared or quietly observing from a cozy spot nearby. Nadja is a stunning pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s playful, curious, and guaranteed to bring endless laughter and love to her forever home. If you’re a husky enthusiast seeking an energetic and affectionate companion, Nadja might just be your perfect match. Her journey has only just begun, and she’s ready to share her life and adventures with a family who will cherish her as much as she will adore them. Daiquiri / Female / 8 weeks / Northern Mix / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: Yes Meet Daiquiri, a playful and gentle 9 week old Husky mix who loves people and is always up for some fun! Daiquiri is one of Rory's ten puppies that came all the way from northern Manitoba. She enjoys playing with chew toys and has a special fondness for chicken treats. Daiquiri is friendly and calm, making her great with kids, and she is learning to trust the cats. Although she is small in size (for now!), she has a big heart and loves to snuggle! This smart pup is currently working on being house-trained and does well with pee pads. Her crate training is a work in progress, as expected at this age, but she's improving every day. Daiquiri isn't highly motivated by food; she prefers praise and attention. She's excellent with children and has begun making friends with the senior dog in her foster home. Daiquiri is current on age appropriate vaccines and is microchipped. She is being fostered in Hamilton. Apply to Adopt! https://forms.gle/BTWMP7DA98Rmkn4B9
