Story
🐾DeSoto😍 DeSoto is a 10 month old husky Carolina dog mix that was pulled from the euthanasia list just in time! He wound up there despite being an AMAZING boy and we knew we had to save him. 🫶🏼 Desoto has the most beautiful eyes that are two different colors. That and his happy smile make him stand out. He also jumps off the ground with all four paws when he’s excited like a deer. 😅🦌 This handsome boy is taking his second chance at life very seriously and has been the happiest boy since he broke out of the pound. DeSoto loves to spend his days playing with his higher energy foster brothers, being goofy, snuggling with his foster parents, going on adventures, and working on his leash walking. He is house trained and mostly crate trained! He has had a few accidents overnight but he’s working on it. He is also still working on his manners as he spent most of his life in the shelter and is still getting the hang of the good life. But he is very easy to correct and very food motivated making him super fun to train. 🐾 DeSoto gets along with the calmer resident dogs, reactive resident dog, and even the 17 year old blind and deaf resident dog in his home. He is very good at reading the room and respects their boundaries and space well. 🐶 This cutie needs a home where his family will continue to work on manners and obedience with him while also giving him plenty of adventures, fun activities, and love. He would also love a higher energy furry sibling to play with. 🏡 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Mr Max 💙 This handsome blue-eyed boy is a three-year-old Husky. Mr Max was found as a stray by a wonderful family who made every attempt to find his owners. Unfortunately, he was not microchipped, was not neutered and had Heartworms. Max is completely healthy now and is finally ready for his forever family. 🎉 Max is an awesome dog and he definitely has a lot of Husky characteristics. He is very smart and very headstrong in true Husky fashion. Max loves to go for walks and is great on leash but he will let you know if you try to stop the walk before he is ready. He has been known to stage a complete sit-down and tell you all about it in his best Husky voice 😂. Max is an active, playful boy who also loves to snuggle in for belly rubs and pets. He makes quick friends with everyone he meets and is quite the charmer. 😍 Max would be great with older children and he is good with both dogs and cats. Max is house and crate trained. He likes to have his peeps with him and would not do well home alone for long periods of time.🐾 Max is an amazing pup who he needs someone with Husky experience that understands the breed. He is super smart and needs a confident owner who can keep him challenged and busy so he does not get into trouble 🎾🥏⚽️ Max also needs a secure fence and an active caretaker. He would love to be a hiking or running companion or maybe a fly ball or agility champion. 🏆 So if you know and love the breed and feel you would be the perfect family for Max then please fill out the application. Whoever is chosen as this guy’s forever family will be very lucky 🌈🍀🌈

Story
🖤SHILOH🐾 Gentle, handsome, senior husky 🐕 After years of neglect, he’s safe in rescue & getting the care he deserves. We were told that he formally belonged to a neighbor who used to keep him on a chain and never let him in. But recently he had let him go and said he did not want him anymore. Probably because, Shiloh had a tumor growing on his underside and he did not want to be responsible. He has finished his antibiotics and steroids, and the tumor has been removed. The good news is …. It isn’t cancerous!!! And his heart and lungs, and all other x-rays were clear 🖤 True to his breed, he is vocal and full of adorable personality. He greets every human with a soft “awoooo” and lots of cuteness😍 Good with other dogs, but doesn’t need any in his forever home. He’s a bit of a loner. 🤣 In search of a yard to sunbathe in, snacks & pets from people that love him, and the opportunity to live out his golden years how he deserves 💕 If you’re interested in adopting a settled, senior boy, please consider welcoming Shiloh into your home! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rex is looking for his forever home. He was surrendered at just a mere 8 months old to One Dog at a Time ODAAT because of his severe separation anxiety. He was born in February 2018 and is a Husky, Terrier mix. A lot of people might have given up on Rex. He is deaf, suffered from severe separation anxiety, and had no training whatsoever. But the people at ODAAT believed he'd be a perfect candidate for their training partnership with a local prison, Rockview. Rex learned great basic commands while staying at the prison and a couple of really special ones. He is no longer in the program and is ready for his forever home. Because Rex is deaf, we truly feel he would require another pup to be able to live life to the fullest. Older children only. Rex is protective of his people. He is committed through and through with the person he bonds with. He will require a special family to be able to bring him to his full potential. Rex will not be able to be a social butterfly. If you're looking for a dog that will be a great companion, this is your boy! His best friends are Deitz, Vader and Dugan, three of our ODAAT rescue pups. So if you are in the market for an awesome pair, trio, or quad group... just let us know! Applications can be found at  www.onedogatatime.us.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 5, 2023, 4:08 pm

Story
Lucy was recently returned to the shelter because it was not the right fit. Lucy was originally surrendered to the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is around a year old and loves to meet new people! She loves being with people and is an attention seeker! Lucy has lived with other dogs and does not seem to mind her neighbors here at the shelter however a dog introduction is required with other dogs who live in the household. Per her previous owner Lucy has been around cats but has played rough with them in the past. Lucy currently weighs 43 pounds but does need to gain some weight. Lucy loves to run as most huskies do! Breed experience is a plus with potential adopters. Lucy did test positive for Lyme and has been placed on antibiotics due to showing symptoms. Lucy has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since her arrival at the shelter. She would love to have a second chance at a loving forever home soon!
