Story
Sascha arrived at NCCR on 11/21/24, surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. She turned out to be very pregnant, but now that her puppies have all been adopted, and Sascha has been spayed and brought up to date with her veterinary care, it’s her turn to find a forever family of her own! She is an approximately 4-5-year-old female mixed breed. Sascha loves people, but can be a bit shy with strangers, especially men. Sweet talk and some treats generally bring her out of her shell quickly!   Show her that you’re only going to love her, and she’ll melt like ice cream in August! She has lived with another large dog, as well as children but cannot live with small dogs or cats as she will chase them.Sascha is leash trained, house trained and knows basic commands, too. This sweet girl just wants someone to love her as she deserves! If beautiful blondes catch your eye, give Sascha a look. Sascha is in foster care. Meet & greets can be arranged for approved applicants.*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found on the website at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!NYS Registration #RR028

Story
*PUPDATE: Jelly left May 31st for a Slumber Party! Jelly arrived at NCCR 5/1/26, ready and excited to meet her forever family. She is an approximately 8–9-month-old spayed female Husky mix. She probably has at least one or two other breeds in her mystery mix, too. Jelly weighs approximately 45 lbs. and may grow a little more over the next few months, but likely won’t get too much bigger. As with all young dogs & puppies, she will need ongoing daily training, lots of exercise, attention, and playtime, and plenty of patience & love to help her grow into the best dog she can be!*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.  If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Story
Della, an approximately 1 year old, female Husky /Shepherd mix was surrendered to the rescue when owner was unable to keep her in his apartment any longer. Owner who had only had Della for 3 months reported she was house trained and knew the command "sit". It was only he & Della that lived in the apartment and when he had to leave she had a seperate room she would stay in till his return. Della is looking for a home where she can be free to roam & not have to be crated when family is away and with no young children due to her resouce guarding issues & strong-willed personality. Oftentimes, inappropriate behaviors, such as Della's temper tantrums when returning to her kennel, diminish once a dog is settled in a home. Della is an active, intelligent girl looking for a family that will prioritize training ( especially regarding resource issues), physical exercise, mental stimulation along with her general daily needs. Della is house trained, current on vaccines and spayed. For more information on this beautiful girl please contact Tri-County Animal Rescue Center (kennel license # 8704 )

Not good with kids, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Needs an adopter highly educated in separation anxiety. Has anxiety, can’t be left free roaming. Scared of outdoors. He doesn’t like where I live the (busy highway and close neighbor) he literally shivers/barks with fear especially in his crate. He is not happy here. I have a toddler and I think they both over stimulate each other. I do not think it would be safe to rehome him with children as he has bitten my daughter. There was food involved so I do believe it was a food resource guarding issue not aggression aimed to intentionally harm. But even so I will be very cautious about where he goes. He chases my cats so I think he could be a danger to cats who fear dogs but my cats are saints and would just let him eat them if he wanted lol. He would be a great agility dog for someone who has a lot of time and land. He has the hops and is fast as fk boi. I think he would make someone with time, private land, and education an amazing pet/best friend. He wants a person but mine Is my kiddo..

Story
Lizzie (5) and Lilac (8) are a very special bonded mother and daughter duo who are searching for a patient and loving home together. Both girls spent their entire lives in a puppy mill where they were used only for breeding. They lived in poor conditions with very little human interaction, socialization, or handling. Because of this, they came to us extremely overwhelmed by the world outside of the only life they had ever known. When Lizzie and Lilac first arrived, they were terrified of their new surroundings. They spent most of their time hiding in the corner and struggled to adjust to the sudden change from their previous rabbit-hutch style living conditions. Over the past several months, they have been slowly working through rehabilitation and learning that people can be kind and that life can be safe and predictable. Lilac, the mother, is understandably the more shy of the two. After spending eight years in a puppy mill without socialization, she is still very timid. She is not mean in any way and does enjoy gentle attention, but she will not seek it out and needs a patient person who understands that trust takes time. Lizzie is a bit more outgoing than her mom and will come to people for attention once she gets to know them. Both girls are incredibly sweet and loving at heart, they simply need time and understanding to feel safe. Lizzie and Lilac rely heavily on each other for comfort and confidence, and because of this strong bond they must be adopted together. They truly thrive on routine and having each other nearby. Their future family must understand that these girls will need continued patience, consistency, and a slow transition into their new life. They are looking for a calm household willing to allow them to move at their own pace while continuing to build confidence. Because they are still easily overwhelmed and can be flight risks, a secure fenced-in yard is required. They would do best in a quieter home without young children, as high energy environments can make them nervous. They are also not suitable for homes with cats. Despite their difficult start in life, these girls have come so far during their time in rehabilitation. With the right family, patience, and continued guidance, Lizzie and Lilac have the potential to blossom into truly wonderful companions. They have already endured more than most dogs ever should. Now they deserve the chance to experience what it means to finally be loved, safe, and home. ADOPTION FEE WAIVED.
