Story
Sascha arrived at NCCR on 11/21/24, surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. She turned out to be very pregnant, but now that her puppies have all been adopted, and Sascha has been spayed and brought up to date with her veterinary care, it’s her turn to find a forever family of her own! She is an approximately 4-5-year-old female mixed breed. Sascha loves people, but can be a bit shy with strangers, especially men. Sweet talk and some treats generally bring her out of her shell quickly!   Show her that you’re only going to love her, and she’ll melt like ice cream in August! She has lived with another large dog, as well as children but cannot live with small dogs or cats as she will chase them. She can be a bit rude and agitated with passing dogs when out on a walk (she has a lot of opinions and doesn’t hesitate to share them, but she’s working on mending her ways with the help of her foster mom!). Sascha is house trained and knows basic commands, too. This sweet girl just wants someone to love her as she deserves! If beautiful blondes catch your eye, give Sascha a look. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found on the website at caninerescue.org.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
This breaks our hearts, but we’re looking for the right home for our sweet husky. We’ve had him since he was a 10-week-old puppy, and he’s such a loving, loyal dog. He’s house-trained, crate trained, loves car rides, being outside, and getting all the belly rubs he can. He’s great meeting little kids outside the home, but since having our baby, he’s become territorial in the house, especially around food. He needs a home without small children, and should be fed separately. He’d do best with a family familiar with high-energy breeds, ideally with a fenced yard. He’s good with all other dogs, but no cats or small animals. We just want him to have a home where he can thrive and be loved the way he deserves. 💙 If you think your family might be the right fit, please message me for more info.

Story
Hi there, I’m Spirit — and I know what you’re thinking… “Wow, what a handsome dog.” I hear it all the time and you know what - you're right! So get your cameras out people because I'm also very obedient and already know sit, stay, down, paw and give belly! Just check out my Christmas tree photo shoot - that was on the first shot and without any treats, like a total pro, if I do say so myself. A little about what's on the inside - I’m 2 years old, about 55 pounds, and if you ask anyone at Happy Bark, they’ll tell you I’m a pretty cool guy to hang out with. Sure, summer is fun with the sunshine and the nice weather but have you ever dove face first into a pile of snow?! It is so much fun and I just love being outside swimming in the snow piles. I could really be out there all day and trust me, I will try! I’ve got my fun bursts of zoomies and I could play fetch ‘til the sun sets, but most of the time I’m pretty chill, soaking in the world with my one icy blue eye and one warm brown one. (Heterochromia? Fancy word, but it just means I’m extra cool.) I’m house trained, crate trained, and I’ve even lived with little dogs before. Just a heads-up though: I’m not a fan of cats. Too slinky. Too sassy. It’s a no from me. So if you’re looking for a handsome husky who could be a dog model on the side, a buddy who’s just as happy chasing a ball as he is lounging by your feet, I might be your guy. I’ve got a heart full of loyalty, a personality that will keep you laughing, and a tail that wags just for you. Ready to meet the handsome husky hunk this side of the fence? Come say hi — I’ll bring the smile, you bring the treats! Spirit's adoption fee is $275.
