Story
It's True, I Act Like a Husky!Bear was born about December 16, 2017 and weighs about 35 lbs.  We must let you know right away that if you don't have Husky experience (in your adult life) your application will not be considered.  Bear is mixed, which shrunk his size, but he still has a whole Husky personality and has been nippy with humans entering the home and with the kids that were friends of his kids.  He did love his kids and they could do anything to him, but going forward no children in his next home, please.  He is one of those dogs that when company comes you will need to crate him or put him in a separate room and get your guests settled before he meets them and if you are walking on a street you will need to be wary of humans, and children, approaching him too quickly and too close since he really is quite stunning in appearance and humans are going to want to touch him.   Let's get the other negative out of the way - this boy SHEDS!!!  The good thing is that he adores being brushed and since he came to us very matted we had to shave him and he was SO wonderful about it as he sat on the woman's lap as she relieved him of A LOT of fur!  Bear has too much interest in cats to live with any comfortably.   Now for the good part - he loves car rides and is wonderful with other dogs and loves playing with them and is on the gentle side.  Bear moved in quickly and realized he lived here now and he adores all of us and we ADORE him!  He is a very quite guy and if he has something to say it's in the 'wooo-wooo' language and he is SO smart!  He listens to you and when you are talking to him you can tell in his gorgeous eyes that he is all about you and trying so hard to understand everything.  When treats are being handed out he lays quietly waiting for you to notice him and be sure to give him one.  Oh, and he LOVES water!  He loves to be in it and on it - boats, paddle boards, kayaks - he can do it all!!!   Someone (has to be the right someone) is going to love this boy to the moon and back!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $400.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Macy arrived at NCCR in mid-November after she was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for her. She is an approximately 10-year-old female Husky. Macy seems to be at least partially blind in her left eye. She is a friendly girl who seems to love attention and petting and enjoys being with people. She knows how to walk on-leash, but enjoys her down time as much as her walks. Macy is able to climb low fences, but seems to do well with the shelter’s 6’ fences. She may need work on house training, but seems to be doing very well with it as long as she is kept on a routine schedule. She does not seem to like other dogs much - probably a result of being a breeder mom, she had to always watch out for her pups! Typical of Huskies, she is a shedder, but she loves to be brushed, which makes grooming much easier! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Kavic arrived at NCCR in mid-November after he was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for him. He is an 8-year-old neutered male Husky. He is quite friendly and loves attention from people. He also knows how to walk on-leash, and is enthusiastic about playing with his toys – he always has a ball in his mouth! He will need work on house training, but catches on quickly with supervision and consistency. Typical of his breed, Kavic can be quite vocal at times, and he enjoys digging a good hole to lie down in when it’s warm outside. He may be able to get along with other friendly dogs if introduced very gradually 1-on-1, but may do best as the only dog in the home. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Story
This is a mighty special boy who is NOT special needs despite only having 3 legs.  Oscar is missing his front right leg and it does not slow him down at all.  His foster mom takes him on long walks daily and he loves them. If she gets busy and does not take him, he whines at hurt like his feelings are really hurt. He jumps into the van by himself and he loves to go on rides, really he barks if she loads up another dog and does not take Oscar.  The foster mom tries to give all of the dogs equal time in the love and attention area.  Oscar went riding in a subdivision where the Christmas lights were plentiful and he loved it, he rode and looked at the lights as if he were a real 2-legged little boy. So it is safe to say that Oscar's foster mom spoils him and gives him more attention and love because we feel he deserves it.  Oscar is 4 years old and 60 pounds.  All he knew all his life was being chained up in someone's yard.  Oscar got tired of it and chewed through his cable chain and got loose.  Something horrible happened to him but he made his way back home.  The foster mom lives on the same street so the owners called her over and begged her to help him.  She called me and Roxy's K-9 Rescue took him to the vet where they cleaned him up immediately and assessed the situation.  There was so much damage that they only option was to amputate his leg.  If you would like to see his wound pictures, I can email them to you. Oscar is now a Roxy's K-9 Rescue dog as the owners surrendered him not wanting a tri-pod dog.  But nothing is wrong with him, Oscar has no disabilities or special needs except to need love and a safe, happy home. He gets along with all of the dogs that are in the home, big and small.  He does not bother them and they do not bother him.  He is more focused on hanging out and following his foster mom around.  He is completely healed from his amputation, no medications or special instructions are required for him. Wouldn't you like a warm loving guy who is not destructive and appreciates a good home?  There is another video of him playing with a toy that I can provide. We transport across the United States.  Thank you.   ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         April 26, 2024, 10:28 am

Story
Freya This pretty lady is a sweet soul. She loves her people. She will definitely show you lots of love and attention. She loves kids and would make a great play partner. She is very dog and cat friendly. Although if your cat is runner or spooked easily, she will chase for a fun activity. Freya can jump high, so she requires a yard with a minimum of a 6 ft fence. She would do well with lots of room to roam and play. This chick is up for any adventure, as long as she gets to spend time with her people, her heart will be happy. She will be fully vetted, microchipped and is available to you via ground transport.
