Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Jacoby, the sweet, shy, and mellow dog with a goofy side that shines brighter than his unique blue eye spot. We are told his mom is a husky and that little spot offers a glimpse into his past life. His owner was unable to care for him and surrendered him to our animal control. He was nervous and unsure of the noisy environment but began to recognize the faces/voices of the volunteers who hand out treats and quickly added those to his favorite friends list! Initially, he was fearful of the leash but has now learned that it usually brings something special.  He is adjusting well to life at the shelter and has become quite the curious fella. If you leave treats within his reach, he will investigate and feel absolutely no shame. He is also not a fan of baths but says mud puddles are ok! Jacoby is ready to bring joy and a touch of goofiness to a loving home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All PAWS cats and dogs are current on the vaccinations appropriate for their age. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm disease. Cats/kittens are tested (and are negative) for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. All are microchipped (for their safety and the adopter's peace of mind) as part of the adoption fee.  Learn more about our Adoption Information here and fill out an application here.   January 6, 2026, 9:08 am

Story
Meet Starling – A Gentle Spirit Learning What Home Really Means With her soulful brown eyes and tender heart, Starling is a sweet, sensitive young husky who is still figuring out what it means to feel safe and loved. She came into our care on 4/16, likely after spending most of her life outdoors, and the transition to indoor living has been a big change for her. Even so, she is showing steady, heartwarming progress. Starling is shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her gentle nature shines through. She watches the world carefully, takes her time with new people, and thrives when she has a calm, patient presence to guide her. Every day she becomes a little braver, exploring new things and learning the simple joys of home life. She does very well with other dogs and often looks to a confident canine friend for reassurance. Having another dog in the home would likely help her continue building confidence as she settles in. Starling is looking for: • A patient, understanding adopter who can give her time and space to bloom • A calm, secure home where she can continue to adjust at her own pace • A friendly resident dog who can help show her the ropes Starling may be shy, but her heart is wide open. With time, compassion, and a supportive home, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to learn more or schedule a meet-and-greet.

Story
Meet Arrow – A Gentle, Easygoing Husky Looking for His Forever Home Arrow is a 1-year-old Husky with a friendly personality and a calm, approachable nature that makes him easy to love. He’s social with both people and other dogs and has shown himself to be a great companion on walks — he walks well on leash and enjoys getting out to explore without pulling or constant fuss. Arrow has a sweet, attentive demeanor and connects quickly with his people. He’s playful without being overwhelming and settles nicely after activity, making him a great fit for someone who wants an active dog that can also relax and enjoy downtime. He does well with other dogs and would be happy to have a canine friend, though he’d also do fine soaking up attention as an only dog. Arrow is still young and will benefit from continued routine, structure, and positive reinforcement as he grows into adulthood. If you’re looking for a handsome, friendly dog who enjoys walks, companionship, and being part of a family, Arrow could be a wonderful match. Story
Meet Silver – A Wise, Gentle Husky Who Just Wants to Snuggle Silver came into our care on 4/16 and immediately showed us what a special girl she is. With her striking blue eyes and calm, steady presence, she has the kind of gentle confidence that makes people fall in love instantly. Although she likely spent much of her life outdoors, Silver also shows signs that she may have lived in a home before. She understands routines, settles comfortably inside, and absolutely adores human affection. More than anything, Silver just wants to be close to her people. She leans in, melts into snuggles, and has a quiet sweetness that makes her a wonderful companion. Silver is looking for: • A calm, supportive home where she can feel safe and secure • A family excited to welcome a gentle, affectionate dog into their daily life • A cozy place to relax, plenty of love, and people who enjoy snuggling as much as she does Silver is a beautiful reminder of how resilient and loving dogs can be. She has so much warmth to give and is ready to bring comfort, companionship, and quiet joy into the home of anyone lucky enough to adopt her.
