You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. * *This is a courtesy post in efforts to help a wonderful local family rehome their pup.  Please complete an adoption application to express interest and you  will be connected directly with Riker’s owners, as he is not currently in rescue.**   Meet Riker, an approximately 2.5 yr old, small terrier mix (about 15 lbs). He has seen a behavioral vet (full report available for adopter), and has been assessed as friendly and workable; however, he does not like small children. Riker’s family describes him as loving and friendly, but he prefers to be the one to initiate greetings with new people. He would do best in a quieter home with NO KIDS.   Riker is dog friendly and currently lives with other dogs. His family believes he would thrive in a quieter home with no small kids, and understanding owners that will embrace that Riker may not want to interact with everyone.    **This is a courtesy post in efforts to help a wonderful local family rehome their pup.  Please complete an adoption application to express interest and you will be connected directly with Riker’s owners, as he is not currently in rescue.** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 11:30 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Julia is still on the hunt for her forever home!! She is a mature adult at almost 6 years old, which means you don't have to deal with any of that puppy behavior! How nice!! Julia is a Terrier / Chihuahua mix, and is not very big. She's actually the most perfect size, easy to pick up, but big enough to snuggle without crushing! This sweet and shy girl came from a very difficult life, thankfully 4LD and her amazing foster Holley has changed her life. Its taken her quite some time to grow an attachment to her foster family, and mostly prefers Holley. She never had love before, and is learning that humans are OK. Julia is food and treat motivated, which will be the key to her heart! She is also very dog friendly, having a confident fur friend in her new home will help her adjust. Julia is not much for leash walking, she likes her backyard to do her business. We’ve given Julia the most time in foster of all the dogs she came in with, as she had the most to learn about trust. We are so very grateful for her foster Holley for giving her ample amount of decompression time. It’s been a big adjustment for Julia given her past life - being HW positive, but with help from the Pet Resource Center she is done with treatment and will go on to live a happy and healthy life. At her age we will not place her with small or young children. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 3:45 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You can find a turn-key house, ready to move in with no repairs necessary, but can you find a turn-key dog, a dog that requires no house training or introductory period upon adoption?  Why yes, you can!  Please meet Juno, a 4-year-old 13-pound Jack Russel mix.  Juno will join your family and you will believe he has always been a member of your household.  He is house-trained, crate-trained, loyal, adaptable, and just a genuinely happy soul. Juno is an owner-surrender.  His previous parent loved him dearly but was assigned to work outside the U.S. and could not take Juno. Foster parents say Juno... Wags his tail eagerly wanting to be part of any action going on in the house. Has the cutest head tilt like he is really trying to understand your every word. Is a cuddle and nap enthusiast!  Sneaks kisses when being held.  Loves food! Could become chubby, but that is combatted by the fact that he loves numerous walking. If he meets another dog, he will gradually warm up. Loves, loves, loves toys and balls! He will make you laugh throughout the day at his antics with toys.  Juno needs to be the only dog living in the house because that is what he is used to. He gets along with other dogs at social settings or at boarding facilities but prefers the place where he lives permanently to be just him. Juno tends to get jealous of other dogs who want the attention of his owner because he wants it all for himself. 4LD has discovered that Juno prefers living with adults that do not have younger children. He is the type of dog that likes his “alone time” and likes to come to people and play when he wants to and nap when he wants to. The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Juno’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep him for around 11 more years so he will not have to move to a different home again. Juno’s adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested. He is currently being fostered in the Valrico/Tampa area.   From Juno’s previous owner… Meet Juno, a charismatic little furball who is always ready to steal the show! He is a 4-year-old 13-pound Jack Russel Terrier mixed with Chihuahua. Juno thrives on attention and affection, eagerly welcoming pets and cuddles from everyone he meets, including strangers. With his small stature but mighty bark, Juno likes to make his presence known, especially when it comes to meeting new friends. He's not just vocal for the sake of it; he's really just trying to say hello! Juno's spirit is unmatched; he's friendly, playful, and an absolute cuddle enthusiast. It's important to note that Juno has a strong personality and may show a streak of defiance. He will do best with a family that can provide firm, loving guidance to help him become his best self. Napping is one of his favorite past times. He loves to go in his kennel and nap throughout the day. He can be snappy and grumpy at times when he wants his way - just stand firm and he will be ok. He sometimes can be clingy because he loves you so much. One of Juno's lovable quirks is his undeniable love for food. There's no opening a bag or container without him being right there to investigate. This little guy is sure to be a loyal companion, eagerly offering his friendship and protection to his future family. He loves multiple walks per day – each about 15-20 minutes. He can walk for much longer sometimes for three miles. He is very curious of strangers – he will bark at them but once he sniffs, he is generally fine. Juno is used to being the only dog in the house. He loves to equally play so a short visit or playdate with a calm dog would be OK. He has been around small dogs but if the dog was overly playful or assertive, he did not like that. And he does not like bigger dogs. Juno is waiting to bring his boundless energy and love into your life! ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 3:45 pm

Story
This is Buttercup. She is a 15 year old Jack Russell mix. She has been with us since a puppy. Our lives have changed a lot in the last year or so and time/attention have become a real issue. We decided as a family that Buttercup seems to have some time left to enjoy life (you would never guess that she is 15 years old) and that we are not giving her the attention that she once had and deserves. She is an extremely owner-loyal dog. In most of our children's photos through the years, there she is in one corner or another of the photo just watching over. She deserves to enjoy and be enjoyed. I think someone who can give her attention would truly enjoy her loyal companionship. She needs more people time, more walks, a little more of everything. As difficult of a decision as this is, I am doing what I feel and hope will be the best for her. She is crate trained. She also lived most of her life with another small dog.

Story
Hi, I'm Gigi! I am super smart and really playful! I love people and kids. My idea of a perfect day is going outside to play with my toys, lay in the sun and get lots of loving from my owners. I was rescued from someone who made me have lots of babies, but that's all behind me now, and I just want a home where I can love and be loved.
