Looking for a "very sweet" addition to your home? Jumanji is officially out of the game and looking for his forever teammate! Jumanji is ready to "level up" from shelter cat to beloved family member. Come meet him today and see why he’s the best prize in the game! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2670424##

Story
Sugar is just as sweet as her name!  She is a Terrier mix, born 9/23/24.  Sugar LOVES toys!  She's curious and playful.  She is going to need a lot of time to warm up to her people - so PATIENCE is a must - BUT her foster mom says after a couple weeks, she's become the cuddliest little sweetie and asks for tummy scratches like they're going out of style!  Sugar also loves running and playing with other dogs.  She's quick to make dog friends at all of her play dates.   Sugar needs a fenced yard to zoom around in.  We think it would be helpful for her to to have a confident dog sibling to show her the ropes.  It would also be beneficial for Sugar if her person is home most of the day and not gone for long hours.  Sugar is good at using potty pads, but she is learning to potty outside. If you're interested in meeting Sugar, please contact us or apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Sugar is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2608859##

Story
Meet Lucy, 1 year old as of this Feb, mix breed- we know Jack Russel Terrier but unsure of what else! We took her in 6 months ago and she’s looking for her forever home. We have her house trained, kennel trained, leash trained and semi off leash trained (she will get excited if there’s a lot around her) but can be off the leash and stay by your side without a lot of commotion around. Knows commands sit, drop, come. Is whistled trained to come on command. Loves fetch and is very treat motivated. All of her training was done over the course of the last 6 months, she’s a very smart girl, and learns quickly. No rehoming fee is necessary, we just want to find her a great home. She needs to run so a fenced in yard or a farm would be ideal. She does know how to use a doggy door as well.

Story
Meet Dixie — a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love and plenty of pep left in her step. This sweet senior girl was sadly abandoned by her owner in Louisiana, but she’s made her way to Iowa and is more than ready to start a brand-new chapter. Dixie’s face shows a little silver and her body has a few lumps and bumps that come with age (none of which are health concerns), but don’t let that fool you—she still has lots of good years ahead of her. When the mood strikes, Dixie loves to play! Warm days are her favorite, and she’s happy to prance around outside with her canine friends or even engage in a game of chase. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and does well with cats and kids, too. Indoors, she’s all about the cozy life: Dixie adores stuffed toys and will happily hoard them if allowed, and she’s an absolute glutton for attention. Pets, cuddles, lap time—she wants it all. Once she’s worn herself out, she’s perfectly content curling up right next to you for a well-earned nap. Dixie is potty-trained and crate-trained, though she may need a few extra potty breaks due to her age. She would thrive in just about any home that’s ready to give a happy, affectionate, and energetic senior girl a soft place to land and all the love she deserves in her golden years. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with personality, playfulness, and a whole lot of heart, Dixie just might be your girl.

Story
Daisy is a sweet, young pup with a heart full of love, but she’s had a rough start. Just under a year old, she was surrendered due to extreme separation anxiety and is going to need a little extra support at first. At the shelter, she has just started treatment for anxiety and will likely need continued care post-adoption.Daisy would thrive in a home where she can slowly learn structure and that being apart from her people is okay. This may include kennel training, extra exercise, and plenty of enrichment activities to help her build confidence and, hopefully, be weaned off her anxiety medication over time.Despite her struggles, Daisy is a loving, sweet girl who is ready to give all the affection she has to offer to the right person who is willing to help her along her journey. Our dog adoption fee is $150 and includes her spay, heartworm testing, up-to-date vaccinations and preventatives, and her microchip. You can apply at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or stop in to meet Daisy and our other adoptables Tuesday–Saturday from 1pm–4pm.
