Lady is a 3 year old spayed, microchipped Jack Russell mix. She is housebroken, good with people and most dogs. She's on a diet and exercise program and has lost some weight. Lady loves to go on car rides. She is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $450 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please Contact Us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted. Here is the adoption process: To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $100 fee for any county animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier. Thank you for considering a homeless animal.January 1, 2026, 1:09 pm

Cookie is a 1.5-year-old dog who had originally been spayed and vaccinated and was scheduled to be put back on the streets as part of Puerto Rico's trap/neuter/release initiative. But the person who fostered her during her recovery realized how wonderful she is and wanted to give her a real chance — Cookie is such a good girl and truly deserves a forever home. She is a little girl, about 28 pounds who gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and is very, very affectionate. She’s gentle, loving, and ready for a family who will give her the stable, happy life she was meant to have. She is alittle reserved at first but once she knows you are safe she is a velcro dog, loving her human companionship and cuddles! Our adoption fee is $400 and unless otherwise stated all dogs and puppies have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, 4DX tested(if age appropriate), Put on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked and flown from Puerto Rico.
