Story
MEET SHENZI!STATS: 1 year old old, neutered, Jack Russell Terrier Mix, 21 lbsAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: I am the cutest little jumping bean you have ever seen! I bounce around the yard like a bunny, playing chase with all my friends. I absolutely love people (there is no such thing as too much) as well as other dogs. I have friends of all sizes! I have quite a bit of puppy energy, but that’s what makes me ME! WHAT I LOVE: I am full of love and exuberance and always leave my personality on full display. I absolutely love to play, run, jump, chase toys, play tag (I always win!) and just enjoy life. When I get my energy out, I am such a cuddle bug. After a nap, I am ready to go play some more!KIDS: While I haven’t been formally tested with kids at the shelter, the staff thinks I would be good with kids who understand my energy level, and are kind and respectful towards me!OTHER DOGS: I am dog friendly and go to playgroup every day at the shelter!CATS: UnknownHIS MATCH: I am still learning how to “dog” and am still in the puppy phase, so I would love someone who will teach me as I grow. I am such a love bug, so I would need someone who is going to baby talk me! I do have a lot of energy, so a way for me to meet that need (walks, playing in the yard, enrichment, etc.) is a must for me!SPECIAL NOTE: I was recently mistaken for a giant rabbit.Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in.Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. Adoptions are matched based on best placement and require no negative animal history.

Story
I’m Eclipse, an adorable border collie/Jack Russell terrier mix who absolutely rocks the shaggy look!I was surrendered by my owner to the Humane Society of York County and to be honest, I’ve had a tough go of it settling in. I would love to find my forever home where I can snuggle up with my person or family for TV night.I’m a medium-size girl of about 40 pounds and my estimated birth date is December 2024. I get along with other dogs though I’m much more interested in being with people. I’m a classic “Velcro dog” and love getting attention, petting and snuggling. I’m ready to be with my forever people so please come meet me!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
Meet Uno! *Please read full bio before inquiring.* Cross-posted. Breed: JRT/chihuahua mix. Age: approx 2 years (8/25/23). Weight: est 24ish lbs. Training: crate trained, it's his safe place. House trained when on a schedule. He isn't leash trained. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to dogs, no to cats. Good with adults/kids? Adults/kids he knows, yes. Only kids 10+. Personality: loves his people. He loves sunbathing and being a couch potato, and overall snuggling. He is scared of thunderstorms. Reason for rescue: Uno has been much loved, but unfortunately it is best for him to find a home with kids 10 years +. Uno loves his people with his whole heart. He is very loyal to his people. He doesn't do well with strangers coming into his home/yard. He would do best with a fenced yard. He has been trained on an invisible fence and it works well for him. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding Uno to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75.March 7, 2026, 4:10 pm

Story
Meet Lady! This sweet girl’s story starts with heartbreak - dumped in a neighborhood and too scared to let anyone near her for three long days. It’s clear life hasn’t been kind to her. She’s had babies, probably been let down more than once, and learned the hard way that not all humans are safe. But even after all that… she still chooses love! Now safe in a foster home, she’s showing her gentle, loyal heart. She loves her people (especially older kids) and once she trusts you, she’ll love you with everything she has. She’s laid back, crate-loving, respects our cats, and just starting to believe she’ll never be left behind again. We think she is around 6 years old, and a Jack Russell terrier mix of some sort! We will continue working on her confidence and sharing love with other dogs - but one things for sure: she’s already a keeper. Quiet, gentle and learning to trust again - she is going to make an amazing companion. Interested parties must complete an adoption application on our website. Breed, age, and size are not guaranteed.

Story
Oh how Chase is just the most adorable Jack Russel/ Chihuaha mix! This love bug is 2yrs old, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Chase is a very sweet boy and dog friendly. He would do better with dogs bigger than him. He loves to play with his foster buddy who's a Golden Retriever! Because he can play rough (typical Jack Russel) other little dogs might not like his play style. Chase is true to the Jack Russel breed with having a lot of energy. But once he gets some exercise he settles right down. We will require a fenced in yard for Chase so he can run around. Also, if you're a walker, that's a great way to get a dogs enery out! If you think this sweet boy would be a great fit for your family, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.pawsitiveimpactncdogrescue.org ##1744393##
