Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Casper is a little ray of sunshine wrapped in a soft, snuggly package. At just 1.5 years old and weighing 27 pounds, this Chihuahua-Jack Russell-Pit mix is the perfect combination of playful and affectionate. With his sweet temperament and soulful eyes, he’s the kind of dog that instantly makes you feel at home—and his favorite place in the world is right by your side (or more specifically, right on your lap). Inside the house, Casper is a total Velcro dog. He lives for human connection and will happily spend hours cuddled next to you, soaking up love and giving it right back. Whether you’re watching TV, reading a book, or just relaxing, Casper will be your loyal little shadow. He’s calm and content indoors, but once he gets outside, his playful side shines. He absolutely loves to run in the yard, often leading the chase with other dogs and showing off his surprising speed and agility. Trail walks, playtime with other pups, or just exploring the backyard—he’s ready to go wherever the fun is. Casper is a well-mannered boy who is housetrained in his foster home using a doggy door, and is crate trained for when you’re away or can’t supervise. He’s very responsive to supervision, goes right to the door when he needs to potty, and even knows a few basic commands like “Come” and “Sit.” He’s also great on leash and enjoys quiet neighborhood walks. Car rides? He’s all in—quiet and calm, whether it’s a short trip or a quick errand. Casper meets new people with friendliness and is always ready for attention and affection. He gets along well with other dogs and has even lived peacefully with cats. His favorite playmate right now is another dog named Batman, and the two love to run and chase each other in the yard. Casper came from a loving home where he lived with an older couple, several small dogs, and two cats. After his owner passed away, he found himself in need of a new beginning. While some things in the outside world are still a bit new to him (like wheelbarrows—he’s not quite sure what to make of those yet), Casper is adjusting beautifully and showing every day that he’s ready to love and be loved again. He would thrive in a home where he can be close to his people—whether it’s a single person, couple, or family. A fenced yard and another friendly dog would be a bonus, but Casper would also be perfectly happy as your one and only. If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly companion who’s as happy snuggled on the couch as he is out on an adventure, Casper might just be your perfect match. Interested in adopting? All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. May 3, 2025, 10:58 pm
