Story
Meet Bao — Sweet, Loyal, and Ready for Her Forever Family!   Name: Bao Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Spayed: Yes Breed: Terrier Mix Color: Black/Brown/White Weight: 7.5kg Height (shoulder): 41cm   Rescue Story   Bao entered a city shelter in 2023 with her mother. She was rescued at around 4 months old and spent about 2 years in a foster home looking for an adopter in Korea, but without success. She joined AKR in mid-October to prepare for her chance at a forever home overseas.   ‍‍ Socialization with People   Bao lived with a single foster guardian for nearly 2 years, so she naturally forms a deep bond with one person. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly loyal and affectionate — a true one-person “velcro dog.”   At first meetings, she may be shy, but she warms up quickly with treats and gentle interaction. She has done well with children under 13 and can be picked up comfortably by placing arms under her belly. Once she’s comfortable, she happily shows her belly for rubs.   Socialization with Dogs   Bao is sociable and gets along well with other dogs.   Just like she bonds strongly to a favorite person, she may also become very attached to a particular dog friend. If that dog doesn’t want to play with her, she may whine a little to get their attention — it’s part of her sweet, clingy charm.   She plays well with both large and small dogs. If another dog barks or tries to provoke her, she does not react or fight back — instead, she runs to her guardian for safety. She generally prefers people over dogs.   Cats   She has shown interest and playful whining when seeing cats outdoors. A home-cat test is available upon request.   Energy Level   Moderate — she enjoys outdoor activities, running, and playtime, but settles calmly afterward. In her foster home, she enjoyed 1–2 hours of walking and play each day.   ‍ Walks   Bao has plenty of walking experience. She does not pull, follows her handler well, and loves going for walks and exploring new places.   Other Behaviors • No food guarding toward people or dogs • Not severe separation anxiety, but she may whine if her person suddenly leaves the room • Strong people attachment — wants to be near her person • May bark when hearing outside noises • Gets car-sick and may need to be monitored during rides • Prefers outdoor potty   If Bao sounds like the loving companion you’ve been looking for, please submit an application today Adoptmekr.org Currently in South Korea (available for international adoption!) Story
Under AKR Custody Review (Adoption temporarily on hold pending resolution of foster situation) Currently in Vancouver!!! Name: Mongmong Age: 4 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: JRT (Jack Russell Terrier) Mix Color: Black, tan, and white Weight: 9.5 kg (20.9 lbs) Height (at shoulder): 32 cm (12.6 inches)   Mongmong is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves people — whether you’re a familiar friend or someone he’s just met, he’ll happily come over for pets and attention. He’s especially gentle with young children and is comfortable being picked up with arms under his belly. Once he warms up, he’ll even show you his belly! He’s curious about other dogs and will approach them to say hello, though he doesn’t typically engage in play. Gentle with cats, not much interest in them. Mongmong has a moderate energy level and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, but settles down calmly afterward. He’s well-behaved on leash, doesn’t pull, and follows his human companion nicely. He is not food aggressive and remains calm in a kennel or during car rides. Mongmong was found injured, likely from a car accident, and was at risk of euthanasia at a municipal shelter. After being rescued, Mongmong had one eye removed due to phthisis bulbi, a condition that caused his eye to shrink and lose function and had hernia surgery on 25.05.01-but he’s recovered beautifully and is now ready for a fresh start Mongmong is a brave little survivor with a heart full of love. He’s looking for a forever home where he can feel safe, cherished, and loved — could that be with you? Story
Meet Vanilla   Name: Vanilla Age: 6 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Terrier mix Color: Beige/White Weight: 5kg Height (shoulder): 23cm   Her Rescue Story   Vanilla was found in a temple parking lot in late August 2025 and brought to a city shelter. Despite being gentle and calm, she was placed on the euthanasia list — but was thankfully rescued just in time. Now she’s safe, cherished, and waiting for a loving family.   ‍‍ Social with People   Vanilla is quiet, calm, careful, and incredibly gentle. When called, she approaches slowly, lies down, and shows her belly. She allows handling, being picked up, and enjoys quiet affection. She’s still a bit unsure around men, but has no avoidance or fear reactions. She is expected to do well with children under 13 due to her soft temperament.   Social with Dogs   Vanilla minds her own business and rarely engages other dogs. She tends to be intimidated by larger dogs and will politely move away. Even when getting attention from humans, she may relocate if other dogs crowd around. She currently doesn’t initiate play, but may become more confident once settled in a home.   With Cats   Likely to be fearful — cat testing can be arranged if needed   Energy Level   Low — she enjoys resting, relaxing, and peaceful indoor life. Perfect for a calm, cozy household.   Walks   She walks well and follows her handler, frequently checking in for reassurance. She enjoys quiet areas but may stop or hesitate in busy streets with heavy traffic. With patience and encouragement, she’ll continue to build confidence outside.   Other Notes   No resource guarding — toward people or dogs No separation anxiety No barking Calm & comfortable in a kennel/crate Currently potty trained outdoors   Ideal Home   A relaxed, quiet home with gentle humans who will offer patience, comfort, and security. She’s the perfect companion for someone seeking a peaceful, loving, low-energy dog.   If Vanilla sounds like the perfect match for your family, we’d love to hear from you! WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌿 Meet Olive — The 7-Pound Superstar With a Heart Bigger Than Texas! 💚✨ Move over, big dogs — Olive has entered the chat, and she’s here to prove that size is deeply overrated. At around 1–2 years old and a perfectly pocket-sized 7 pounds, this terrier mix is ready to take her rightful place as your resident tiny adventurer, blanket burrower, and professional bringer of joy. Found on the streets of San Antonio, Olive has mastered the art of being cautiously curious — she’ll check out new things, but she’s polite about it. Think: “Oh hi, I’m interested, but also… are you going to murder me?” Once she realizes you’re safe, she’s playful, friendly, and absolutely precious. She’ll thrive in a calm home or a small family with older children — younger kiddos move a little too unpredictably for her delicate nerves. (Relatable, honestly.) But let’s talk about her hobbies, because Olive is basically a tiny connoisseur of the good life: ✨ Crinkle toys: 10/10, very satisfying ✨ Soft blankets: the fluffier the better ✨ Butt scratches & gentle ear rubs: yes, please, forever ✨ Being part of the pack: lap dog energy = strong ✨ Fast walks & slow jogs: her favorite cardio routine Despite her petite frame, Olive is down for almost any adventure — neighborhood strolls, mild nature trails, camping, road trips, you name it. She’s good with cats, good with other dogs, and good at making you say “How does something this small have THIS much personality?” She’s the perfect combination of brave and snuggly, quirky and sweet, tiny and mighty. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in heart, charm, and comedic timing. If you’re looking for a little dog with a big spirit and an even bigger desire to be your best friend, Olive is ready to shine her way straight into your life (and probably onto your lap). 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — this pocket-sized princess is ready for her happily-ever-after!

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet Pickles — The Playful, Smart, 12-Pound Goofball You Didn’t Know You Needed! If you’ve been craving a dog who’s equal parts fun, snuggly, smart, and delightfully mischievous… congratulations — you’ve just found your guy. Pickles, a 1–2-year-old terrier mix weighing in at a perfect 12 pounds, may be small, but this boy has more personality than a whole jar of his namesake. Found on the streets of San Antonio, he’s traded pavement for playtime and is now ready to relish life with a family of his very own. Pickles is playful, gentle, and highly intelligent — the kind of dog who picks up on routines, learns quickly, and always tries to figure out what his humans want from him. (Treats. You want to give him treats. That’s the correct answer.) This boy LOVES his toys: - A good game of fetch? Yes sir. - Tug o’ war? Absolutely. - Wubba toys? His soulmate. But after playtime, Pickles is totally down for a solid cuddle—and he gives the warmest, floppiest snuggles known to mankind. A family who enjoys playing and relaxing will suit him perfectly. He’s a big fan of: - Belly rubs - Butt scratches - Gentle ear massages - Being told he’s a very good boy (because he absolutely is) He’s great with other dogs and critters, though he does enjoy a joyfully enthusiastic cat chase here and there—nothing serious, just a flirtatious little “Hey cat friend, run so I can follow you!” kind of vibe. And for the active folks? Pickles LOVES a good long jog. He’s the perfect mix of athletic and cuddly, with a side of comedic charm. Pickles is ready for a family who will laugh with him, love him, teach him, and let him finally feel like he truly belongs. He’s so ready to make your life brighter, funnier, and way more entertaining. Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Pickles is ready to add some crunch, charm, and cuddles to your home!

Story
Meet Loke — curious, sensitive, and looking for a soft place to land. Formerly shy, but becoming bolder by the day. Loke is an attentive and active household member. She is eager to hop on your work calls, distract you with a toy squeak or alert you of the slightest door closing. She’s a tender little soul who’s still learning personal boundaries with her humans and fellow dogs. She’s a little anxious and nervous, but also keenly curious! She will need a patient, and experienced home to build confidence and redirect her inquisitive energy. She is quick to learn new tricks and exists happily with other dogs. We expect with the proper training, she would thrive as an outdoorsy dog, or in the world of agility! Loke’s potty training has made a lot of progress but she still has the occasional accident inside. Her foster is giving her lots of love, and consistent bathroom breaks while she works through this phase. Loke is a high-energy and intelligent dog who is learning to be confident and walk on a leash. Her foster started training basic commands to help hone in her energy. She’s learned sit, come, and down already. She’ll need time, consistency, and a calm home to meet her where she is while helping her explore new tricks! If you’re looking for an active dog who also needs a slow and steady home to build their confidence, Loke may be the one who quietly steals your heart. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
