Name: Lime ***CURRENTLY IN VANCOUVER!!! Age: 2 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Terrier Mix Color: Black / Brown / White Weight: 7.5 kg Height (shoulder): 40 cm   Rescue Story Lime was rescued from a municipal shelter.   Personality & Socialization   With People ‍‍‍: Lime tends to bark at new people at first — not so much out of fear, but more like a habit (similar to a yard dog alerting to newcomers). She is very vocal initially, but this settles quickly once she becomes familiar.   Within just a few days, she transforms into a cuddly, affectionate companion who loves attention   Once comfortable, Lime enjoys being close to her people — she will nuzzle between your legs, ask for pets from anyone she trusts, and happily show her belly She can also be picked up comfortably by supporting her belly.   With Other Dogs : Lime is friendly and social with other dogs, both familiar and new. She approaches politely, initiates play, and gets along well regardless of size.   She generally avoids conflict and will walk away if another dog is pushy. While she enjoys social time, she is also independent and relaxes well on her own.   With Cats : Not yet tested, but can be assessed upon request.   Energy Level : Low energy. Lime enjoys calm environments and prefers lounging and relaxing She also likes playing independently with toys.   Additional Notes :   No food guarding No separation anxiety Calm and well-mannered Crate trained Outdoor potty trained ‍ Minimal demand barking   Note: Lime’s main challenge is her initial barking at unfamiliar people. With a bit of patience during introductions, she warms up quickly and becomes very affectionate Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Meet Hiro   Name: Hiro Age: 5 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Jack Russell Mix Color: Brown Weight: 12.5 kg Height: 41 cm   Rescue Story   Hiro was rescued from a municipal shelter at the end of 2023.   When Hiro first arrived at the private shelter, he would occasionally grab onto clothing when he became overly excited or happy. It was determined to be playful behavior rather than aggression, and after over a year of consistent training, this behavior is now very rare.   Because of this, Hiro has spent over a year in professional training focused on impulse control, obedience, and handling skills He has made tremendous progress and now only shows this behavior very rarely (about once every few months). These days, he is much more likely to express affection through cuddling and leaning into people instead   He has also earned a Dog Fitness Level 3 certification with his trainer   ‍‍‍ Socialization with People   Hiro absolutely loves people He is affectionate with strangers, men, children, and familiar people alike. He loves cuddling, climbing into laps, showing his belly, and being close to his humans   He can be picked up comfortably and enjoys physical affection. While he is very sweet-natured, he is also energetic, playful, strong, and intelligent — very typical of a Jack Russell mix   Because of his playful intensity and energy level, Hiro would do best with an adopter who understands active working-type breeds and can continue providing structure, boundaries, and mental stimulation   Socialization with Other Dogs   Hiro is social and friendly with other dogs and enjoys greeting and playing with unfamiliar dogs However, people are always his priority.   He especially enjoys playing with dogs similar to or larger than his size. Smaller dogs do not interest him much. If another dog behaves rudely, Hiro may give an appropriate warning, but he has never fought with another dog.   He enjoys social time but is also perfectly happy relaxing alone in the sun after playtime   Cats   Cat testing has not yet been done, but can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Hiro has bursts of high energy and loves active play, but after about 30 minutes of exercise he usually settles nicely and relaxes.   He especially enjoys training and learning new things, so mental enrichment and structured activities are very important for him   Walks   Hiro is very experienced on walks and generally walks well. However, he is smart and tends to test handlers at first. If boundaries are unclear, he may pull or try to make his own decisions.   With calm but firm leadership and structure before walks, he listens very well and becomes an excellent walking companion   Other Behaviors   Hiro does not guard food or toys from people or other dogs He has no separation anxiety and is calm in a kennel.   He may bark excitedly when greeting people he loves, especially when his owner returns home   He rides very well in the car, can jump in and out on his own, and is currently outdoor potty trained   Hiro is an affectionate, intelligent, funny, and active dog who forms strong bonds with people He would thrive in a home that appreciates the lively personality and clever mind of a Jack Russell mix while continuing to provide structure, exercise, and love. Story
Under AKR Custody Review (Adoption temporarily on hold pending resolution of foster situation) Currently in Vancouver!!! Name: Mongmong Age: 4 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: JRT (Jack Russell Terrier) Mix Color: Black, tan, and white Weight: 9.5 kg (20.9 lbs) Height (at shoulder): 32 cm (12.6 inches)   Mongmong is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves people — whether you’re a familiar friend or someone he’s just met, he’ll happily come over for pets and attention. He’s especially gentle with young children and is comfortable being picked up with arms under his belly. Once he warms up, he’ll even show you his belly! He’s curious about other dogs and will approach them to say hello, though he doesn’t typically engage in play. Gentle with cats, not much interest in them. Mongmong has a moderate energy level and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, but settles down calmly afterward. He’s well-behaved on leash, doesn’t pull, and follows his human companion nicely. He is not food aggressive and remains calm in a kennel or during car rides. Mongmong was found injured, likely from a car accident, and was at risk of euthanasia at a municipal shelter. After being rescued, Mongmong had one eye removed due to phthisis bulbi, a condition that caused his eye to shrink and lose function and had hernia surgery on 25.05.01-but he’s recovered beautifully and is now ready for a fresh start Mongmong is a brave little survivor with a heart full of love. He’s looking for a forever home where he can feel safe, cherished, and loved — could that be with you? Story
Meet Pixie *Currently in Victoria 3 years old | 8.5 kg | Spayed Female | Mixed Breed   About Pixie Pixie is a gentle, sensitive girl with a quiet and sweet nature. She can be a bit shy at first and takes time to build trust, but once she feels comfortable, she forms a strong bond and shows her affectionate side. She enjoys relaxing nearby and will happily nap while you work, and sleeps peacefully in her own bed at night.   With People Pixie is naturally shy and may take some time to warm up to new people. She tends to bond closely with one primary person and feels most comfortable once a routine is established. She may be more reserved around men and can find busy environments or young children overwhelming, so she would do best in a calm and predictable home.   With Dogs & Cats Pixie does very well with other dogs and has great social awareness. She prefers calm, respectful dogs and may avoid overly energetic ones, but she enjoys gentle play with smaller, easygoing companions. She is also cat-friendly and typically keeps to herself around them.   Energy & Walks Pixie has a medium energy level. She enjoys walks, especially in quieter areas where she can explore and sniff. She walks nicely on leash and generally does not pull, though she may feel a bit unsure in busy or noisy environments. In calm, open spaces like beaches or forests, she really relaxes and enjoys herself.   Ideal Home Pixie is looking for a calm, patient home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace.   Adult-only home preferred (older, calm children may be considered) Quiet, low-traffic environment Ideally with a calm, well-balanced dog companion Someone who understands that she may need time to fully open up   Why Pixie? Pixie is a sweet and loyal companion who will truly blossom in the right home. With patience and understanding, she will reward her person with quiet affection and a deep bond.
