Story
Andre is a 10-pound Japanese Chin with a shy, timid, but quietly curious personality. New environments can feel overwhelming for him at first, and he may need time to observe from a safe distance before feeling comfortable. With patience, gentle encouragement, and consistency, his curiosity begins to shine through. Andre is looking for a calm, peaceful home with predictable routines and an adopter who is truly committed to building trust and long-term stability. He does best when allowed to move at his own pace, given space when needed, and supported with kindness and understanding. A quiet household with plenty of downtime will help him feel safe and secure. We are still learning more about Andre and how he feels about other dogs. To ensure the best possible fit, any meet-and-greet with resident dogs is required to take place at the shelter. With a patient heart, a gentle home, and possibly the right canine companion by his side, Andre has the potential to blossom into a deeply devoted and loving friend. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
