Story
Meet Nami 🐾🐶 Nami is a beautiful 3-year-old Jindo mix with a stunning tiger-striped brindle coat. She was rescued from South Korea after being raised to be sold for dog meat, as brindle-colored dogs often “sell for more.” Nami and her brother, Namu, were discovered living in a small cage until a dedicated rescuer spent several months persuading the owner to release them. During that time, Nami accidentally escaped into the mountains, and rescuers worked tirelessly to safely capture her again. After rescue, Namu was diagnosed with heartworm and went through a full course of treatment. He is now completely heartworm-free. Through all these challenges, Nami remained resilient. Despite the hardships she faced while growing up, Nami still shows a sweet, gentle spirit. She smiles when people approach and is learning to trust more each day. She is a little more shy than her brother Namu, but she has already shown tremendous improvement since arriving in foster care. You can follow Namu and Nami’s journey on Instagram: @shkimhahaa 🐾 Nami is: • Spayed • Fully vaccinated • On monthly preventatives • Ready to find a loving forever home 🐾 Nami’s ideal home includes: • A family committed to providing monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention • A patient home willing to help her continue building confidence • A calm, loving environment where she can feel safe and secure Nami has overcome so much and is now ready to start her new life with a family who will love her forever. This dog's adoption fee is $500. Application for adoption: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FRE/Dog If you are viewing on Petfinder/Adoptapet and cannot see photos or would like to apply for this dog please visit our website, www.frecklesfoundation.org. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the exact age or breed of any animal in our care. The age and breed listed are based on information we may have been provided, and the appearance of the animal.

A spirited almost nine-year-old Korean Jindo currently in Ashburn, VA, whose quiet strength is matched only by the golden glow of her soft tan coat. Moxie’s journey began far from here, but today, she’s searching for a peaceful home where she can thrive as the devoted companion she was born to be. At 36 pounds, she’s a medium-sized girl with a gentle soul and a deep love for routine, calm surroundings, and her favorite thing in the world, head scratches! She’ll happily sit beside you, nudging your hand every now and then just to remind you she’s there and ready for more love. Playtime is an event for Moxie! She enjoys a good game of tug and takes great pride in disarming squeaky toys with expert precision. She also loves the great outdoors, especially when she gets to explore the neighborhood on long-leash walks or keep an eye out for backyard critters. Moxie is fully house-trained, does well when left alone for short periods, and knows commands like “sit,” “down,” and “find it.” That said, Moxie needs a guardian who understands her boundaries. She has a history of resource guarding, particularly around food and high-value toys, and there have been a few instances where she has bitten when those boundaries weren’t respected. For this reason, Moxie is looking for a confident, experienced pet parent who uses positive reinforcement and is comfortable supporting her continued behavior management. She does best in a structured environment where she can feel safe and understood. Moxie is not compatible with other pets and would do best as the only animal in the home. While she enjoys affection from older children and teenagers, she is not suited for homes with young kids due to her need for predictability and space. Thunderstorms can unsettle her, but a calm, reassuring presence helps her ride them out. Moxie is a loyal, affectionate girl who’s ready to be the center of someone’s world.
