Story
We were asked to take Sadie and her brother, Tucker, in when their owner went into hospice care. Their owner took great care of them until her health declined and she was forced to give them up. They are 8 (almost 9) year old labradoodle siblings whose mom had to go into hospice care. We have only had them a short time so we are still learning about them and they are still figuring life out here, as they have spent their whole lives (from puppyhood) in their former home. They are usually good with other dogs but Sadie, the female, can get jealous of attention to other dogs and tends to be a bit more dominant than her brother, who is more timid. Vet stated Sadie has Horners Disease, which develops from a trauma or injury usually to the nerve in the face. The nerve will partially regenerate but does not fully come back. You can notice this by her lip pulling up some on one side and the eye being a bit smaller on that same side. Vet said it does not really affect her health overall but she seems to be somewhat sensitive on that side and vet said she really didn't like them looking in her ears, especially on that side. Because she has probably had this injury for a long time, there is nothing that can be done to help or fix it. Mostly cosmetic as it's visibly noticeable but otherwise she appears to be fine and vet found no health issues. Both dogs are head shy and will shy away from touching their heads. You can pet them but initially, they seem to be wary of hands near their heads. Overall, both of these dogs are in good health and their owner maintained their vet care regularly. They are ready to find quiet, retirement type homes where they can be the only dog(s). That is the lifestyle that they are used to and the lifestyle that would benefit them the most, we feel. They aren't terrible with other dogs or kids but we just think they would prefer not to have to deal with them very often. Both dogs walk on a leash and love to ride..they will jump right in ready to go. They seem to be crate trained and housebroken (although we do not guarantee that). A secure fenced yard is highly recommended unless you want to walk them. Sadie saw the vet on 9/25/26 and was found to have no major issues noted. She was noted to have the Horners Syndrome mentioned above but no other issues were noted. She has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention with us and tested negative on her heartworm test. She also tested negative on her fecal. Sadie weighs around 48 pounds. She is ready to find her forever family. If interested in giving Sadie her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Sadie's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Sadie based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

Story
We were asked to take Tucker and his sister, Sadie, in after their owner went into hospice care. Both dogs were well cared for by their owner until she could no longer do so because of her declining health. They are 8 (almost 9) year old labradoodle siblings whose mom had to go into hospice care. We have only had them a short time so we are still learning about them and they are still figuring life out here, as they have spent their whole lives (from puppyhood) in their former home. They are usually good with most other dogs but Sadie, the female, can get jealous of attention to other dogs and tends to be a bit more dominant than her brother, who is more timid. They both seem to be dog selective. Both dogs are head shy and will shy away from touching their heads. You can pet them but initially, they seem to be wary of hands near their heads. Tucker has no health issues, other than some old man cysts that old dogs can get. Vet stated they felt like benign cysts and of the type older dogs can develop. She was not concerned with them. Overall, both of these dogs are in good health and their owner maintained their vet care regularly. They are ready to find quiet, retirement type homes where they can be the only dog(s). That is the lifestyle that they are used to and the lifestyle that would benefit them the most, we feel.
