Story
We have a 4 year old labradoodle needing to rehome, Ringo. We’ve had behavior issues with him and have a baby on the way in about 4 weeks. Unfortunately, we don’t want to take any chances with a baby being brought into play. He is a great dog, very intelligent and aware. He can be grumpy in the mornings, snappy, & on edge. He loves playing fetch, tug-a-war, and ear/butt scratches. He loves walking through your legs in the morning for his butt scratches. The best way to explain him is similar to a cat. Ringo wants to be messed with, when he does. He’ll come to you when he wants pets and such. We’ve had him since he was a puppy. We currently have him and a dalmadoodle as well. They typically play great together and get along, however I feel our dalmadoodle antagonizes him and Ringo likes to be left alone often. However, he loves attention in other ways and loves people/visitors. Ringo is very healthy and up-to-date on all vaccines/etc. Ideally no children, single dog home.

Story
Links is a long-term shelter dog. LIfe in an adoptive home with be a long-term journey. Here's what a new life with Links would look like:The first 3 monthsBonding with her new owner without introducing her to any outside influences or visitors to your home. If someone is coming over in that first 90 days, put her in a crate shut in a room. The focus will be on helping her feel trusted and secure with you. No visits to stores, dog parks, etc. 3-6 months+If you have visitors, put her on a leash and instruct them to ignore her under all circumstances. Do not let them approach her, make eye contact or talk to her. Hold the leash firmly, calm her down by using treats and instructing with basic commands no "it's o.k. Links or any other talk that will feed into her insecure behavior." Once she is calm and in a sitting position, have the visitor toss her treats but ignore her. Focus on confidence building and positive introductions without making her feel unsafe. Once she is relaxed, put her in her kennel so you don't overstress or overstimulate her. 6 months +Once she starts to become relaxed with people coming into your home with low stress contact, allow her to approach people at her comfort level but instruct them not to reach out to her to pet her or invade her space without making her feel uncomfortable. At this point, it's about Links taking life and getting to know people at her comfort level without pushing her limits. Links is a beautiful 4-year-old mixed breed dog who is looking for her forever home. She's house-trained, kennel-trained, and knows a variety of basic commands including sit, stay, come, uh-uh, wait, and ok. Links is a dream on a leash, making her an excellent walking companion. This lovely girl is full of energy and loves to explore the great outdoors, especially when hiking (she's great at "getting the zoomies"!) Links adores water and enjoys car rides, so she's always ready for an adventure. When she's not out and about, Links loves attention and belly rubs. She's treat-motivated, which makes training and bonding with her a joy.Links gets along well with other dogs and enjoys initiating play with her current canine foster sibling. While she may not immediately play with new dogs, she is always pleasant when meeting them. However, Links prefers a home without small kids or cats.Though she is people-selective, Links' loyalty and affection are unmatched once she trusts you. She prefers indoor lounging but is making great progress with spending more time outside. If you're looking for a devoted, playful, and adventurous companion, Links might just be the perfect match for you. Come meet Links and see if she's the missing piece to your family puzzle!

Story
Leroy had a bit of a reputation at the shelter as a "bad boy" but in foster, he's a love bug. We guess he thought he had a rep to protect in the shelter. In his foster home, he is loving and prefers to snuggle on the couch with his foster mom. He does well with his foster siblings, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, appears to be potty trained, all around great reports. But, no one is perfect, right? Leroy struggles with a strong phobia of being groomed and he gets angry and will bite if pushed. His foster family is working on desensitizing him but his hair cut is a little funky right now and his forever family will need significant work on this issue. Leroy is also starting to show resource guarding with people whom he is sitting with and food, he is learning this is not ok and getting better. Leash Manners: Walks well on leash Basic Commands: Sit, down, shake Cat introduction in a controlled environment: no reaction, walked up smelled and walked away Good with dogs? eligible for dog intro Special Notes. Leroy needs an experienced home without children and someone that is willing to work through all of his behavior so that he and the Adopters are successful. We are looking for a very specific home for Leroy one that will meet his needs and manage his behavior for him to be a great companion.Adoption Fee: $100Estimated Date of Birth: 1/29/22Intake Reason: Transferred from Peoria County Animal Protective Services, original intake owner surrender, no longer wantedAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Story
Rend Lake is a shy but sweet boy who was found dumped at Rend Lake in a crate. The staff has worked on building trust with him and while he can be understandably unsure and skittish, he's made a good amount of progress! He is VERY interested in being around other dogs and playing with them, but we are still trying to figure out his boundaries since he had some sort of issue with a Great Dane recently. That said, he is reported to enjoy people snuggles, playyard sniffing, and stuffed toys. He is easy to leash, easy to walk, and not quite potty trained. Leash Manners: acts scared and wants to pull to a door, a dog, or his kennel Basic Commands: seems to know sit Cat introduction in a controlled environment: afraid Good with dogs? Eligible for dog intros, he perks up around other dogs Special Notes : He is still very nervous her so this description may not be accurate after he has decompressed a bit more. Adoption Fee: $ 100Estimated Date of Birth: UnknownIntake Reason: Was transferred in from another shelter. Was dumped at Rend LakeAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption.
