Story
Jessie is a sweet, kind-hearted 10 year old black labradoodle. She is a velcro dog and just wants to be next to her owner all day. She walks excellently on a leash (no pulling and leisurely pace) and is in great health with all up-to-date shots and monthly fee & tick and heartworm medication. Her coat is straighter than a normal labroadoodle as she is a first generation rather than the typical second generation doodle. She requires a fenced in yard and regular grooming (every 8-10 weeks). Although she gets along with other dogs, she can be territorial of her owner and, therefore, should be in a home with no other animals to avoid confrontation. Although she would rather stay next to her owner, she has a lab's nose and needs a privacy fenced yard to keep her contained when squirrels and rabbits make an appearance. She is an absolute sweetheart and we wish we didn't have to say goodbye to her. We'll provide dog crate, bed, couch pad, leash, collar, bark collar, 3-6 mos. medicine, & food.

She absolutely loves to run and play, especially with other dogs, so a home with a canine companion could be a great match. We’re happy to set up a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along perfectly. She’s also a bit of a goofy girl who will keep you smiling, and despite her energy, she thinks she’s a lap dog and loves to snuggle up close. Birdie is treat-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for continued training and bonding time—and she already knows basic commands like sit and stay. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate, and active companion to share your days with, Birdie might be the perfect fit for you! She's available for foster or adoption at the Animal Protective League, located at 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. We are open every day from noon to 5 p.m.
