Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ellie came to us from the city pound on 8/2/2026. We did learn a little bit about her from her former owner, who no longer care for her. Ellie is her real name and she is a "labradoodle" (lab/poodle mix) who seems to be around a year and few months old. She will be vet checked and spayed on August 11th. The vet staff will also work on cleaning her up a bit as she definitely needs to be groomed. Her fee is $150. Ellie will need definitely need basic training in all areas, but she's still an exuberant and friendly girl. She's young, very active, and incredibly bouncy, so she will require plenty of exercise. It would be helpful if her new home has experience with dogs similar to her because of their high grooming needs. A potential adopter should be prepared for the extra work and expense of this. Ellie should do well with other dogs that match her in size and energy level. Her enthusiasm might be too much for cats. She would do better with kids over 8 because she is so energetic and needs training. She has a lot of potential! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 10, 2026, 10:26 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tilly came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 7/31/2026. Her household had too many dogs to handle and had to downsize. We have taken in several of Tilly's family members over the past year and they have all been really nice dogs. Like most of her relatives, she is a lab/pit bull mix, but, to put it bluntly, she is quite chunky at around 100 pounds. She was born in March 2025, so she is still a young dog and really does need to lose weight to make her healthier in the long run. Tilly has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and her fee is $150. Tilly is a happy and loving gal. She's eager to please and loves attention. She has had a little basic training. Tilly has done well with other dogs, kids, and cats. She needs a home that will help her work on some weight loss (controlled food portions, gentle exercise). She's really a honey! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ahri came to the shelter on 8/7/2026 as an owner surrender. Her owners' lives underwent some big changes and they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. She is a mature 7 to 8 year old white German shepherd mix, although she looks close to a purebred. She could also be mixed with lab and husky. We will need to get Ahri vet checked and updated on her vaccinations. She is already spayed and microchipped. We'll also work on getting her groomed. Her adoption fee is $125. Ahri is an extremely shy and nervous girl right now. Her whole world has been changed so it's understandable. She is extremely sensitive and intelligent. She's looking for a very patient and secure home. She has had basic training and has done okay with male dogs. She has done okay with kids, too. Cats? We're not sure.
