Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emmett arrived from the city pound on 7/12/2025 when his legal hold was finished. He had been found tied to a table at a local park. He is approximately 2 to 3 years old and is a mystery mixed breed. Maybe some hound, shepherd, lab...it's a guessing game. He does have some crazy double dew claws on his hind feet that give him a unique quality. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Emmett is a bit unsure of himself and can be quite shy at first. However he's really quite loving and goofy. We think he has the potential to be a fun companion. He does appear to be okay with other dogs. We don't know about cats at all. We're not sure if he has ever been around young kids. He will require some basic training in all areas and will need regular exercise. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 9, 2025, 9:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sadie came to us as an owner surrender. Her family had to move and could not find a place that would allow a large dog. Sadie is a 6-7 year old black lab type dog and currently weighs 84 pounds. She is an absolute honey! She has been spayed already and will be updated on her vaccinations and blood work on Jan. 6th. Her fee is $125. Sadie is a good-natured gal who is very loving. She has had some basic training. She has done well with kids and other dogs. She has not had a lot of exposure to cats but with her sweet disposition, we think she'd be okay. She is pretty strong and will require some regular exercise.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spinner arrived from the city pound on Sept. 13 when his stray hold expired and no one had claimed him. To say he is exuberant is a gross understatement. He is EXUBERANT! We think he's an approximately 1 year old black lab (mix?) and the puppy is still strong within him. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped and his fee is $150.  Spinner will need a lot of basic training and a whole lot of exercise. He's a fun-loving guy who hasn't quite learned the concept of "chill". He does do well other active dogs of similar size but his energy might be way over the top for cats. Kids? No small kids for this guy, unless you want them to take flight. All kidding aside, Spinner has a heck of a lot of potential. He just needs a good home to harness it and give him the training he deserves and requires. Story
Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022. He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. Domino has some dog friends here, but isn't fond of others, so an introduction to your dog would be a good idea to see if they click. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Meet Rocco! ✈️🐾 From the beaches of Puerto Rico to the snowy trails of Minnesota, this adventurous pup is on a mission to find his forever home! Rocco is an energetic dog with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. He’s always ready to go for a walk, explore new sights, and soak up every bit of love and attention you have to give. Whether it’s a hike in the woods or just a jaunt around the neighborhood, Rocco is your go-to walking buddy. He does pull on the leash but is working on that. This sweet boy has already overcome a big hurdle—he was treated for heartworm and came through like a champ! To keep him healthy, Rocco will need to be rechecked for heartworms in September to ensure there are no new or residual worms after treatment, and he will also need to stay on monthly heartworm preventatives for life, but he doesn’t let that slow him down one bit. Rocco is looking for a home with an active person or family who will embrace his playful spirit and keep him moving. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of gratitude and paws ready for adventure, Rocco might just be your perfect match. Rocco isn't a fan of his kennel and does bark, if you have shared walls. He would LOVE a fenced yard to run. Let’s help this island boy find his Minnesota happily ever after! 💙 Rocco would do best as the only pet in the home Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.
