Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocky arrived at MCHS in September 2025 from the city pound after fulfilling the legal stray hold. We did know that his name was Rocky and that his owners were unable to keep him, which is why he went to the pound. He is an approximately 2 year old pit bull mix, maybe with lab. He's a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is loving and playful. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped and his fee is $150.  Rocky is a young dog who has had a little basic training. He needs a home that can provide him with the exercise he requires. He did live with kids in his previous home. We do think he could do okay with a female dog with proper intros. We have no way of knowing about cats. He really is a honey! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 28, 2026, 6:56 am

Story
Hey there — I'm Domino, a striking yellow Lab with energy to spare! I'm a smart, playful guy who weighs in at a solid 75 pounds, already neutered and ready for action. I'd do best in a home without cats or small kids, but I'm the kind of energetic companion who thrives on activity and engagement with my people. I'm waiting to meet the active family that can keep up with me — let's go on adventures together! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Ziegler (Ziggy) is a sweet, curious guy who loves being wherever his people are. True to his Shepherd side, he enjoys keeping you company and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of the action. He does great free-roaming the house when his fosters are out, but he can also settle nicely in his kennel after about 10 minutes if needed. Ziggy absolutely loves being outside—walks, playtime, and exploring are some of his favorite things. Because of how much he enjoys being outdoors, a fenced yard is a must for him. Ziggy gets along best with female dogs and would be happy to have a canine buddy to play with. However, he cannot live with cats. He would do best with kids 4 and up. Ziggy is a friendly, enthusiastic boy who sometimes forgets how big he is when he gets excited, but his heart is always in the right place. His fosters have started working on training and manners with him, and he’s been doing well! His future family should be ready to keep building on that progress—either continuing training at home or working with a trainer to help him become the best boy he can be. When the day winds down, Ziggy’s favorite place is right next to you (or on you). He’s convinced he’s a 72-lb lap dog and loves nothing more than a good snuggle. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts adventure buddy, playmate, and cuddle companion, Ziggy might be your guy. Adoption fee is $450+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
**Meet Freddie** Freddie loves napping in your arms like a giant, floppy baby. He's cuddly, curious, and always ready for the next adventure — hiking trails, long walks, backyard zoomies, you name it. He's got puppy energy for days, but he also knows how to settle once the fun is done. Freddie gets along great with other dogs and cats, so he plays well with others. He already knows "sit" and "down," and he walks like a total pro on a leash. A few honest notes: he's mouthy and nippy, and he likes to snap at the air when he's playing, so he'll need someone patient to keep working on his manners. He's working on potty training and crate training, and he gets a bit anxious when his person leaves. Translation: he just really, really loves you already and wants you around all the time. Freddie would thrive with an active family who wants a running buddy, hiking partner, and cuddle machine all in one. Give him structure, patience, and adventures, and he'll give you unstoppable loyalty and a whole lot of love. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $450 plus tax.

Story
Toby is a sweet, sensitive boy who loves being close to his people. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he’s a very cuddly dog who enjoys quiet time and gentle affection. He can be a bit anxious and unsure, especially in new situations or with unfamiliar handling, so he’ll need a patient home willing to go at his pace. Toby does best with calm, consistent routines and someone who can help him continue building confidence over time. Because of this, he would do best in a home with older kids who understand dog body language and can provide a predictable, low-stress environment. He may take a little longer to fully settle in, but as his trust grows, so does his affectionate and loving side. With time, understanding, and a little extra patience, Toby has the potential to be a very loyal and devoted companion. Toby does well with other dogs who aren’t overly pushy, and he tends to feel most comfortable with calm, respectful companions. Adoption fee is $450+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Pete is a 5 year old lab mix who came to us because he was chasing his owners sheep. He is a great boy with lots of energy and a high need for exercise. Too much chaos and strangers can cause him to be a bit shy, so a calmer household that can keep up with his need for speed would be best. He has been around children and other dogs most of his life with success. He is a great learner and has good manners inside, but would benefit from someone who has the time to train him to put his energy into the right places when out in the world. He is crate trained and lead trained.adoption fee $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax
