Story
Meet Lucy, a three-year-old Lab/Husky mix weighing 56 pounds.Lucy is a beautiful, incredibly smart girl with piercing blue eyes and a personality that is sure to win you over. She already knows the command “sit” and is eager to learn more. Friendly, active, and outgoing, Lucy is the kind of dog who wants to be part of the action and involved with her people.Lucy has been in three homes that we know of, and we are sad that no one has committed to keeping her. She deserves the stability, consistency, and love of a family who will make her part of their forever plans.Lucy is an active girl and a bit of an escape artist when she’s bored or left unattended outdoors. She can dig under fences, so she’ll need a secure environment and supervision outside. Her intelligence means she can be quite resourceful when she decides she wants to go exploring! She has been around other dogs, including small dogs, and has done well. She has also done well with children ages 7 and 8.Lucy is smart, affectionate, adventurous, and ready for someone who will finally give her the commitment she’s been waiting for. Story
Meet Clara, a one year old Lab/Husky mix weighing 40 pounds.Clara is a sweet, gentle girl who is looking for a patient family willing to help her learn that the world can be a safe place. She came to Yakima Humane Society through Animal Control after being removed from a difficult situation, and she is still adjusting to all the changes in her life.Right now, Clara can be timid, flighty, and unsure in new environments. Because of this, we recommend keeping her on a leash indoors for the first few weeks, allowing it to drag behind her so she can be safely guided when needed. We also recommend leash-walking her in a secure yard until she becomes comfortable with her new family and surroundings, as frightened dogs may try to escape when they are unsure of where they are.Clara would do best in a calm home without young children. While she may not show her true personality right away, we know there is a sweetheart hiding beneath her shy exterior. With patience, consistency, and kindness, Clara is likely to blossom into a loving and devoted companion. If you have a quiet home and the time to help a deserving dog build confidence, Clara may be the perfect match for you. This pet is available for adoption on 6/20/2026 3:27 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Paul, a two year old Staffie/Lab mix weighing 44 pounds.Paul’s story started with a rough chapter—he was found abandoned at a park and arrived with us feeling unsure and scared. Thankfully, those days are behind him. Once Paul realized he was safe, his personality began to shine, and he has blossomed into a happy, outgoing, and incredibly fun dog.Paul loves to play and go for walks, and his energy has a way of lighting up the room. He may come bursting out of his kennel ready to take on the world, but give this boy a good walk or run and you’ll see his softer side emerge. Once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy, Paul is perfectly content to settle down and become a loving couch potato. He knows “sit,” is very treat motivated, and would likely enjoy continuing to learn new things with his family. At a great medium size, Paul is big enough to be an adventure buddy but manageable enough to fit comfortably into everyday life.Paul is simply a joy to be around. He’s playful, affectionate, enthusiastic, and full of life. His bright personality and contagious energy make it hard not to smile when he’s around.Paul has come a long way from the frightened dog who first walked through our doors. Now he’s ready for someone to give him the forever home where he can keep being the happy, loving boy he has become. This pet is available for adoption on 7/11/2026 10:49 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
