Story
Meet Asher, a one year old Lab/German Shepherd mix weighing 68 pounds.Asher is ready for his second chance—and we truly believe second time’s the charm for this smart, lovable guy. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy but returned because his energy level was more than his previous home could handle.Asher is full of personality—friendly, playful, and always ready to have a good time. He enjoys playing, exploring, and yes, sometimes digging when the mood strikes. He also does well on a leash and already knows “sit,” showing he has a great foundation to build on.It doesn’t seem like Asher had much training in his previous home, and he’s not fully potty trained yet, but he’s a bright dog who is eager to learn and a great temperment. With a little guidance, consistency, and patience, he has all the potential to become a well-mannered companion. He also lived with cats previously and did well with them.Asher is looking for an active home that will give him structure, continued training, and plenty of outlets for his energy. In return, you’ll get a fun, loyal companion who’s ready to grow right alongside you. Asher has met many other dogs while with us and has done well with all of them. He is a true joy to be around. Story
Meet Gurley, a one year old Lab/Boxer mix weighing 64 pounds.Gurley is a happy, leggy girl with a heart full of love and a personality to match! She was owner surrendered due to allergies, but she hasn’t let that slow her down—she’s still as friendly and outgoing as can be. This is actually her second time her because she was so loving of toys the WDOC took her for training but unfortunately returned her because she didn`t have enough `drive`. Their loss is your gain. This goofy sweetheart truly believes everyone is her friend. She has not a mean bone in her body and loves meeting new people, soaking up attention, and spreading her joyful energy wherever she goes.Gurley enjoys exploring the outdoors just as much as she loves hanging out inside with her people. She’s a smart girl who already knows “sit” and is always motivated by treats, making her a great candidate for continued training.Silly, sweet, and full of happiness, Gurley is ready to bring endless smiles to her forever home. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion, Gurley might be your perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 4.10.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Paul, a two-year-old Lab mix weighing 50 pounds.Paul is a one-of-a-kind pup with a look that keeps everyone guessing—our staff can’t quite agree on his mix! Maybe there’s a little Husky, maybe some Pit… but whatever he is, he’s 100% sweet and 100% lovable.Paul came to us through animal control after his owner, who was experiencing homelessness, was arrested. Despite the changes in his life, Paul has remained a happy, resilient boy who just enjoys the simple things—like a nice walk, a new place to explore, and time spent with people. He does well on leash and loves getting out to sniff and discover the world around him. His easygoing, friendly nature makes him a great companion for someone looking for a loyal buddy to share daily adventures with. He knows the command `sit` and is treat motivated. If you walk by his kennel you will probably see him holding his favorite toy. If you’re searching for a sweet, adaptable dog with a loving personality and a curious spirit, Paul might be your perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 4/18/2026 at 12:10 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
