Story
When Bain first arrived at our shelter, he was completely shut down. He had been found by kind people at a local law office and safely trapped by our deputies, but the shelter environment was simply too overwhelming for him. Bain would stand frozen in place, his body trembling with fear. It was heartbreaking to watch. Then something incredible happened. Bain went to a foster home. With patience, quiet, and the comfort of a home environment, Bain has begun to bloom. The dog who once couldn’t move is now playing happily with his foster family’s dogs, seeking out affection, and learning that people can be safe and kind. He still has one medical hurdle ahead of him. Bain will need heartworm treatment. The good news is that this can be done right from his adopter’s home, and our team will provide the treatment and medications needed to get him through it. What Bain needs now is the final piece of his journey: a forever home. If you’d like to meet Bain, we would love to set up a meet-and-greet with his foster family, who are eager to help him find the permanent home he deserves. Sometimes the biggest transformations start with the smallest act of kindness. Bain is living proof.

Story
Colonel is one cute fellow! He is a three-year-old retriever/lab mix that was found running loose in a neighborhood! His owners either didn’t keep him at home or he escaped his yard on a regular basis. Either way his safety was what mattered most. Someone called Animal Control about him and a deputy came out to pick him up. His owners never came for him and he is now looking for a new home. Colonel has all of his vaccinations, he is heartworm negative, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. Colonel is a big boy weighing in at about 90 pounds! We think that he is “90 pounds of love and fun!” Make sure you have a secure yard for Colonel. We think he may be an escape artist!!

Story
Lime was found along with his brother Lemon on a busy street here in town. They fortunately chose a house and yard to “rest” in that had a very nice and caring family living there. Even though the “mom” at the house already had pets and kids, she took the time to make sure the Lime and Lemon got to the shelter! She knew that was the best place to reconnect with their owners or even find a new home. Lime has all of his vaccinations for his age, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. It would be great if Lime and Lemon could be adopted together, but they each definitely need good homes!

Story
Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications.  You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets.Rod is an 1-year-old male Black Lab Mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was brought to PAHS as a stray and his owner never claimed him.  Rod is black with some white markings; and he weighs 49 pounds so he is considered to be a large dog.  Since he is a stray, we are still learning about him.  Rod is friendly, affectionate, and he gets along well with children and other dogs.  He is just a great all around dog; and Rod will be a great family dog.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  *****Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications.  You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets.*****May 30, 2026, 4:57 pm
