Story
Hero is a 9-month-old male Black Lab/Pit Bull mix who has already been neutered.  He came to PAHS after city animal control was called to pick him up at a local apartment building.  The landlord discovered Hero tied to a rail in a bathtub after the tenants moved out---weeks earlier.  This puppy was in terrible shape--at nearly 5 months old he only weighed 17 pounds.  Hero's condition was so poor that PAHS decided they needed the help of Animal Medical Clinic to try to stabilize and save him.  He stayed there for several weeks under a vet's care; and as you can see he is ready for a new start on life.  Hero now weighs about 40 pounds; and he has a gorgeous healthy black coat with just bit of white on his chest. Despite the neglect of his previous owners--he is happy-go-lucky and very loving.  Hero is playful, high energy, and just full of life!  He loves everybody at the shelter; and we believe he would be good with other dogs and children.  We think Hero will be a large adult dog who will weigh 50-60 pounds.  In case you are wondering--there is a court case involving Hero.  He will thrive in a home with a patient adopter who is willing to take up a lot of time with him; and make sure Hero gets lots of exercise.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  January 11, 2025, 4:57 pm

Story
Bubba is an 1-year-old male Black Lab/Cane Corso mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was found out in the county; and a nice man brought him in so he could be out of the weather.  Bubba is black with just a tiny bit of white markings.  He is magnificent--such a beautiful shiny coat.  Bubba weighs 82 pounds so he is a great big fellow!  The person who turned him in said Bubba was good with his children; due to his size we would not want him to be in a home with small children.  Because he is a stray, we are still learning about him. If you would like more info about him--come out and meet him or call our staff.  PAHS is open Monday-Saturday from 11-4; 334-358-2882.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  January 10, 2025, 2:36 pm

Story
Prancer is a 3-month-old male Yellow Lab mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He came to PAHS as a stray who was found in a neighborhood in the city.  No owner came to reclaim him.  Prancer has a yellow coat with white markings.  His adorable ears frame his gorgeous head.  Prancer weigh 12 pounds and we believe he will be a medium size adult dog who will probably weigh 50-60 pounds.  He is shy but very friendly once he gets to know you.  Prancer is playful and would enjoy a nice fenced yard where he could safely play.  We believe he would be great with children. Because he is a stray, we are still learning about him. If you would like more info about him---come out and meet him or call our staff.  PAHS is open Monday-Saturday from 11-4; 334-358-2882.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  January 10, 2025, 4:04 pm

Story
Salt is a 6-month-old female Lab mix who must be spayed before adoption. She came to PAHS with her sister, Pepper, after someone found them out in the county.  Salt has a white (or cream) coat; and she weighs 36 pounds.  She has a sweet personality; and she would be good with children.  Salt also appears to be good with other dogs.  This awesome girl would make a wonderful family dog.  Salt is ready for a new start on life.  It's no wonder that Labs are such a popular breed--they have such amazing personalities.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  January 15, 2025, 3:27 pm

Story
Brutus is an 1-year-old male Black Lab who must be neutered before adoption.  This incredibly beautiful guy was brought in after being found in a city neighborhood.  We were shocked no owner came looking for him.  Brutus is a picture of health with his gorgeous shiny black coat.  Just look at those gorgeous copper colored eyes!  Brutus weighs 55 pounds so he is a large dog.  He would be good with older children; and we would suggest a meet and greet with your dog if you have another dog.  Brutus is playful and would love a fenced yard where he could play and have fun.  This is a VERY nice dog!  Please consider giving him a home.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  January 15, 2025, 7:53 pm
