Hi there! My name is Basil and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I am a 8 month old, female, Labrador Retriever/Vizsla mix who came to SB Humane in search of a loving home to share my love with. Did someone say lets have tons of fun? I am the life of the party with my happy-go-lucky attitude and my silly smile. I am super smart and eager to please. I grew up with another dog in the home, and some tiny humans. I am still a young pup, so I would love a family who is willing to teach me how to be a great doggy citizen. If you are up for a lifetime of fun and adventure, then I would love to be your joyful sidekick. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. We have always had Labs. As our older lab aged, we got Jethro so he could be mentored by our senior. They had a beautiful relationship. When Toby died and then Covid hit, Jethro missed out on some important socialization. Jethro is now 4 1/2 years old. He is great with us and people. He is unpredictable while walking on a leash. Some dogs he is fine with and others he is extremely reactive toward. He's been known to lunge, and it makes it hard for us to enjoy a walk with him. We had a trainer help us a few times and she was able to keep him in line while walking, but we can't seem to employ the same techniques. We believe someone can train him; we're likely the problem here. He has been lovingly cared for since we brought him home from a local family breeder, all shots and vet care are up to date. We want him to be happy and healthy and believe it is possible. We think re-homing is his best chance at that.

WOOF! I'M HANK! I'm a 2-1/2-year-old Labrador Retriever-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. I'm a smart, mellow, loyal and loving dog who has been overlooked for far too long! I can be a bit shy when I first meet you, and when I go to my new home, will need some time to adjust with a patient person or people. Unexpected noises etc. scare me a bit, so I would do best in a quiet environment where I can feel secure, with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. I'm also independent and not super needy, and I love to go for walks. I am strong so could use a strong owner. I do get along with other dogs (see video with my brother Holt, who also needs a home), but would probably do best as an only dog or with a submissive dog, possibly a female. I weigh about 60 lbs. I have plenty of puppy energy so will do best with someone who can give me the love and exercise I need. I was rescued from a shelter, and per my previous owners I did not do well with cats, and didn't always do well meeting other dogs (I'm just a puppy after all!). I walk well on a leash, respond to corrections well, and am eager to listen when on a walk. I am also very treat motivated and would respond well to further training.
